To wonder...how many of you who say "I'd have smacked her" would actually do it?

I see loads of women on here announcing to everyone that "I'd have smacked her" or using the "C" word with impunity as though it were every day language. Also "I'd leave him" is also common.

Just wondering how much of this is internet bravado and how many of you are sitting behind your computer screen being the master of a world that doesn't actually exist.

The fact is, women don't use the C word in common usage and we don't go around smacking each other. What's the deal?

Curious.

Some people do

BonkeyMollocks · 24/05/2012 20:46

Depends on the situation!

There are circumstances where i would have and did smack the bitch! Grin

Vagabond · 24/05/2012 20:46

Yes, I see it on crime watch.

Women don't use the C word?? Only men are allowed to do that and 'get away with it' now are they? Hmm

Empusa · 24/05/2012 20:48

I use the C word, but I'd never hit anyone (I've never said I would either)

EchoBitch · 24/05/2012 20:48

I say cunt when i want.

I don't go around 'smacking' people and neither does DP.

Vagabond · 24/05/2012 20:50

Really Bonkey....do tell...I'd really love to know what would drive you to that and what you think the consequences would be? Or what they were!

I was chatting to a woman in my local pub the other night who I often meet as a fellow regular. She said the same thing to me "I almost smacked her". I could understand the urge but, hell, she'd be banned from her local and what a disaster that would be! Now I'm stressed every time the two women meet accidentally in the pub.......it's gonna happen!

If you mean cunt then yes I do say the word when the need arises but I wouldn't use it on the Internet unless making a point about the fact that I do say it in RL but not on the Internet.

Wouldn't smack anyone - very childish. Or say it. Or type it.

lazilou · 24/05/2012 20:51

no its chavvy behaviour

Dprince · 24/05/2012 20:51

Depends on what situation you're talking about. I have never called anyone a cunt on here or told anyone 'to leave the bastard'. I wouldn't in real life so i don't here. I am not above smacking someone, but it would have to be an extreme circumstance. I have smacked anyone since i was about 17 (very angry teenager). Even then it was more self defense, she swung first.

EclecticShock · 24/05/2012 20:52

Agree :)

ObiWan · 24/05/2012 20:53

People don't mean it literally, it's just an expression. A kind of short hand.

Vagabond · 24/05/2012 20:53

Do you actually use the C word with your friends and family in the open? At coffee mornings? I know....dreadful things but they're a part of life.

Again....very curious to know.
BTW, I'm quite judgey of the C word - doesn't matter if it's a man or a woman. I think it's really bleugghg and I would judge someone as soon as they said it as being very low rent. My mum swears like a trooper but if she said the C word, I think I would faint!

Babylon1 · 24/05/2012 20:54

I absolutely abhor the c word and don't use it EVER.

It doesn't offend me seeing/hearing it on here or in RL but it's not a word I can bring myself to use.

Hit someone?? Yeah maybe if I'm riled enough. Sad

DaenerysTargaryen · 24/05/2012 20:55

I have smacked people, I've had fights, and I very occasionally use the word cunt.

Nothing has ever come of me smacking someone or having a fight (can't remember the last time it happened though, I'm older and more tolerant these days)

BonkeyMollocks · 24/05/2012 20:56

I was 15 in my defence and she tried it on with my bf at the time. Drink induced, she threatened to start something, so i got in there first.

I wouldn't 'just smack someone' there would have to be a bloody good reason and I would never start something now but I sure as hell wouldn't just take it!

Some women do do the things you say they don't, some people don't. Simple.

Not everyone is a saint.

Fwiw, I wouldn't say 'leave the bastard' (in a serious way) unless I would actually leave the bastard.

Same way I don't often use the word cunt on here, because its not a word I say very often.

I have also never said 'smack the bitch' and have never seen it anywhere else on here, unless in a jokey way!

DaenerysTargaryen · 24/05/2012 20:56

I don't go to coffee mornings so maybe that's my problem Grin

StrawberrytallCAKE · 24/05/2012 21:04

I see what you mean. I have used the c word in very very exceptional circumstances when it is truly deserved but no, not regularly in front of friends or family. My dsis on the other hand is quite a respectable lady but has no problem in calling her dh a c when she is annoyed with him.

TroublesomeEx · 24/05/2012 21:04

I have said "I would contact SS". That's because I have.

I don't ever say the C word in RL, and so wouldn't on here.

I wouldn't ever smack someone and would never tell someone on here to either. I really hate confrontation so I wouldn't even challenge somebody politely about most things Blush

I wouldn't give any advice on here that I wouldn't be prepared to follow myself because I assume that when people are asking about serious stuff they are doing so because they really do want to know what other people would do and to get a bit of perspective.

RandomNumbers · 24/05/2012 21:05

no no no they wouldn't say I'd have they say I'd of.

youtalkin2me · 24/05/2012 21:24

Cunt is in fact my favourite swear word, I use it a few times every day, without fail. My boss & I have a great time talking about all the cunts out there & all my family use it a lot. I do have a 1yr old now so am going to have to stop myself in front of her, as much as I enjoy saying it, I would be mortified if my little princess repeated it!!! i do not have double standards much

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 24/05/2012 22:04

I don't use the c word - not sure why but it irks me offends my tender ears like no other word does, I never say it in r/l and I don't use it here. (But I do use just about every other swear word there is).
If I ever said I would slap someone, then in r/l in the same situation, I would slap them.
I have also "left the bastard" twice in my life Grin and whilst I might not be Queen of the World yet I am Queen of my world, and it revolves aorund me because I have arranged it to do so Grin

mynewpassion · 24/05/2012 22:19

I rarely use the c-word in RL or online. However, I did say that I would have been driven to smack a poster who used her young daughter's identity to obtain a credit card. And, it would have driven me to smack her.

I post what I would say in RL on the internet.

manicbmc · 24/05/2012 22:20

I see these people at school. They use the c word and I'm pretty sure they would lamp someone if they looked at their pasty funny.

redrubyshoes · 24/05/2012 22:23

I just slap them and shout MOSQUITO!!!! afterwards. They are then grateful.

Malaria is rampant in these 'ere parts.

I saved them you see.....................Wink
