to drink Lapsang Souchong in the afternoon? (light hearted)

I visited a certain upper-crust Grocers in London last week, and did the whole afternoon tea with scones thing as a rare treat (normally I am in the wilds of Scotland and kept well away from such luxury!).

I have never been a tea drinker (I love my coffee!), but DH suggested the Lapsang Souchong and I LOVED it, so much so I bought a huge tin of it and have dragged my dusty old tea pot out of the back of the cupboard and have been having a daily pot in the afternoons while DS is sleeping.

Is this unreasonable? Might I become posh?

YABU tea is vile

TiggyD · 16/05/2012 16:09

I like Ceylon in the afternoon. Assam to wake me up in the mornings.

Bumblefeck · 16/05/2012 16:09

Well the fact you already owned a teapot makes you posh round my way

OrmIrian · 16/05/2012 16:09

It's lovely stuff. My granny used to drink it. The smell of lapsang and the taste of finely sliced white bread with unsalted butter and really thin smoked bacon at breakfast time is my abiding memory of her house. That and the smell in the pantry - sort of tea and cedar wood smell. No-one else in my family with drink it though.

UnChartered · 16/05/2012 16:10

it pisses all over that Earl Grey shite

you, OP, might become posh drinking tea, i will never Grin

MrsChemist · 16/05/2012 16:11

YABU because Lapsang Souchong makes the house smell like it's been set on fire

SuchProspects · 16/05/2012 16:14

Sorry but YABU for drinking it. That tea is vile!

However, you are posh if you are drinking out of china cups with your little pinky sticking out :)

SCOTCHandWRY · 16/05/2012 16:21

Manicbmc tisk, no alcohol before the sun is over the yard arm, PLEASE! Wink

OP posts:
TiggyD · 16/05/2012 16:22

What's the smoky taste like? It it a subtle hint? Or does it taste like somebody has dipped bacon in it?

manicbmc · 16/05/2012 16:23

I can't see the yardarm. Curtains all closed.

SCOTCHandWRY · 16/05/2012 16:23

Gin, no china cup here, just a coffee mug!

SCOTCHandWRY · 16/05/2012 16:25

TiggyD, very pronounced smoky taste, complex. And the whole room smells of it. Gets stronger the further down the pot you go!

OP posts:
Gin30 · 16/05/2012 16:28

Yes, definately go fancy cup shopping! Grin

You have a teapot so you are undoubtedly posher than me anyway.

I have been known to drink wine out of mugs (mainly because I am extremely clumsy and break glasses a lot)

wheniwishuponastar · 16/05/2012 16:35

Hey! I love earl grey :(

UnChartered · 16/05/2012 16:40
