to drink Lapsang Souchong in the afternoon? (light hearted)

I visited a certain upper-crust Grocers in London last week, and did the whole afternoon tea with scones thing as a rare treat (normally I am in the wilds of Scotland and kept well away from such luxury!).

I have never been a tea drinker (I love my coffee!), but DH suggested the Lapsang Souchong and I LOVED it, so much so I bought a huge tin of it and have dragged my dusty old tea pot out of the back of the cupboard and have been having a daily pot in the afternoons while DS is sleeping.

Is this unreasonable? Might I become posh?

YANBU for enjoying lapsing souchong (delish and now have kettle on to make myself a pot). However, YABU to drink it in the afternoons. Darjeeling (the champagne of teas) should be your tea of choice in the afternoon.

My recipe for morning tea bliss: 2 spoons of assam, 1 of ceylon.

Tea should always be drunk from a china cup or mug (it DOES make a difference, I am certain) and you should always warm the pot before adding the tea leaves.

Agree Earl Grey is rank.

This thread had made me really want to buy a teapot! Grin

I won't be drinking Lapsang poopong though!

Gin30 - there is something marvellous about a tea pot. It just feels right and more comforting somehow.

ScotchandWry you may find darjeeling a little light if you are usually a coffee drinker so have it without milk. It is really refreshing.

is darjeeling that manky stuff they put orange oil in?

see, i might not be posh, but i knows a little bit about Brew

I am a hardened coffee drinker Ujjayi, I like proper fresh ground - probably why I liked the smoked tea! It does seem to be a bit of a marmite flavour - people either love it or hate it.
