To question WHY DH needs 7, yes 7 shirts ironing?

So DH is off out tomorrow night to wet our newest arrivals head, DS1 was born just two weeks ago today.

He has managed to round up most of his oldest and closest friends apart from one who married a dragon who will never in a million years let him come out to play to join him for an evening of fun and frolics in the local boozer...... All good so far!!

Then he asked me to iron a couple of shirts for him, still ok with me.......

He came downstairs with SEVEN, yes SEVEN shirts requiring the attention of the iron, with me on the other end of it!!!

Why??? I mean two I could understand, but 7?????

Startail - I have a separate iron for Hama beads BlushBlush

He's not taking all bloody seven, they'll only end up creased!!! Grin

Cheshire we can both be lone oddballs then as I do all the ironing in our house and I'm 33!!

Put them in a suit carrier :)

Beckamaw · 12/05/2012 00:11

You should have ironed only one. Then DH and his friends could all swap shirts in the toilet between pints. He gets to wear 7. Everyone's a winner!

YourFanjoIsNotAHandbag · 12/05/2012 00:20

Tell him to ring his friends to see what they are wearing before he decides, don't want a clash of colour :)

LadyBeagleEyes · 12/05/2012 00:24

Grin Fanjo.
Now that's a brilliant idea.

Babylon1 · 12/05/2012 14:34

Ha ha, brilliant ideas there!! He'll be off up the wooden hill to get ready soon, he's going out early so he's not back too late apparently!!! Hmm

But in the meantime, has told me to put my feet up for a couple of hours and he will take care of DCs. AND he took us all out for lunch so I don't have to be messing about cooking dinner later, we can just snack!!! Grin

Actually if all I had to do was the seven shirts, he can go out more often!!!

for you OP

minimisschief · 12/05/2012 14:50

who gives a fig if she gave birth 2 weeks ago its irrelevant. Also their situation may be that he does certain jobs and she does others. he may well be able to iron, he may not. But their system could be she irons and he Hoovers because they have divided up the jobs.

why is it always assumed that partnerships where someone does something for the other they are being controlled or demeaned in some way. this board is really ridiculous sometimes.

SoupDragon · 12/05/2012 14:54

"who gives a fig if she gave birth 2 weeks ago its irrelevant"

It certainly isn't irrelevant.

Babylon1 · 12/05/2012 15:09

Love it catgirl!! Thank you!!

As for giving birth just 2 weeks ago, really I'm fine!!

If he'd have asked me to iron these shirts 2 weeks ago, well this thread would have been VAIR different!!!!!

Seeing as I'm currently sat with a fresh cuppa, cadburys dairy milk and total control of the sky remote, I feel I have nothing to complain about!!!!

Enjoy your evening Babylon :)

blackeyedsusan · 12/05/2012 18:42

ahhh if ironing is theraputic, can I send round dd's school polos. I eally ought to extract the ironing boad and wash the coverr so that i can iron them for summer. perhaps i shall iron one and check its crease status afterr she has beeen to school in the car and taken her jumper or cardi off to see if i really need to iron.

I got really excited by getting a five way ladder for christmas last year. [needs to get out more emotion]

CheshireDing · 12/05/2012 19:13

Enjoy your evening OP, sounds lovely! I personally think ironing is ok as you can watch tv at the same time.

Ironing duvet covers is evil though Grin

BlackEyed sorry but that is NOT exciting. Did you buy it from QVC? Isn't that where random things like that usually come from Grin

KitCat26 · 12/05/2012 19:27

Enjoy your evening in Smile.

(We don't iron anything in this house )

Lexie1970 · 12/05/2012 20:36

babylon i iron all DP stuff with the exception of jeans.

Having read countless posts where the fact you actually do things for your husbands is enough to have the majority up in arms is missing the point of being in a relationship.

When you work perhaps part-time or not at all then ironing, cooking and cleaning tends to take up a fair proportion of your day. It doesn't mean your husbands/partners are taking the p**s.

Enjoy the chocolate, cuppa and sky knowing your husband will now have 7 shirts to choose from :)

Babylon1 · 12/05/2012 23:59

Well I've had a lovely evening Smile

No tv, no chocolate, but a lovely chinwag with my favourite cousin and her children!!

DH back home now, has had a top night out too, pretty sober Hmm don't know how he managed that, but he is also planning to get up and take DDs to do the local village fun run in the morning Grin

He was happy with his choice of shirt, and even happier he still has 6 to go at!!!

All in all, good result!!!! Smile

My bloke irons his own shirts as well. I can't imagine him having 7 unironed shirts sitting in a pile though as I get annoyed at laundary piles.
"Tryingon" 7 shirts sounds mad as well, as once you try them on and tuck them in they are creased.
He definitely sounds as though he needs to do his own ironing if he values the time spent ironing that little and leaves all his shirts in a crumpled pile.

Babylon1 · 13/05/2012 13:55

7 shirts = less than 20 minutes with a steam generating iron!

I really don't get all the fuss about him doing/not doing his own ironing!! That's just such a non-issue in this house as I actually enjoy ironing Blush

The issue was the number of shirts to choose from!!!

Anyway he had his night out, he looked very smart and he still has 6 ironed shirts to wear whenever he should like to!! Grin

More importantly, DH did indeed get up this morning and dud the 2 mile fun run with DD1, and the weather was so nice I also did the 2 mile fun run complete with DD2 (2.8) and DS1 (2 weeks & 2 days) - so all in all a great wknd here!!!!
