To question WHY DH needs 7, yes 7 shirts ironing?

So DH is off out tomorrow night to wet our newest arrivals head, DS1 was born just two weeks ago today.

He has managed to round up most of his oldest and closest friends apart from one who married a dragon who will never in a million years let him come out to play to join him for an evening of fun and frolics in the local boozer...... All good so far!!

Then he asked me to iron a couple of shirts for him, still ok with me.......

He came downstairs with SEVEN, yes SEVEN shirts requiring the attention of the iron, with me on the other end of it!!!

Why??? I mean two I could understand, but 7?????

OP, give him a tutorial and let him at it, he's a man not a... goat without any thumbs.

marriedinwhite - I'm so sorry to read about your experience, and about the insensitive responses.

lolajane2009 · 11/05/2012 21:17

tell him to do them himself

NovackNGood · 11/05/2012 21:19

To be honest had read the last sentence. Must remember not to skim read in the future.

Oh and anyone can teach the boys to iron instead of letting them be molly coddled.

NovackNGood · 11/05/2012 21:20

insert not between had and read.

LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 11/05/2012 21:24

Not sure that constitutes an apology

redwineformethanks · 11/05/2012 21:25

No Loopy Loops I agree that it does not..............

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 11/05/2012 21:31

I don't think it does either.
Shocking comments.
Pleased to see it deleted quickly.

PorkyandBess · 11/05/2012 21:36

Hahaha OP. I can't fathom why any woman would iron her h's shirts.

What is the matter with him that he can't do this for himself?

I am amazed these cavemen still walk the earth.

I'd iron it, but iron it badly. Then when he complains, say 'I'm rubbish at it, you'd better do that yourself from now on' Wink

Snowboarder · 11/05/2012 21:45

MN is mental tonight Sad

LadyBeagleEyes · 11/05/2012 22:00

OP started a light hearted thread about why her DH needed 7 shirts for a night out.
It wasn't about ironing.
She loves ironing.
Her Dh seems to do other stuff around the house and both are happy with the arrangement.
OP. He obviously Needs A Choice.
Have a lovely night in with your baby and dcs Grin

Babylon1 · 11/05/2012 22:02

He seriously would do them himself, but he knows I do them properly better!

I really don't mind, but I might just make him layer them all up for the comedy effect.... Winder if hd can get 7 pairs of jeans on too!!!!! Grin

Thank you LadyBeagleEyes, I'm looking forward to my night in very muchly!!

We are happy with our arrangement, DH does LOADS around the house as well as being very hands on with DCs, and so he ought to be seeing as he was a SAHD for 3 years Wink

marriedinwhite I'm so sorry to hear that.

ChaoticismyLife · 11/05/2012 22:08

Tbf To the OP she did say she found ironing therapeutic Confused I still say she's weird Grin

marriedinwhite · 11/05/2012 22:35

Thank you for kind words and all the pms. Am fine.

I was very irked by Bibbity which is why I posted a very truthful response. The OP was light hearted and I tried to make my responses light hearted too. Let's not forget we none of us know each other in rl, it's a forum and often a place to say things we wouldn't dream of in rl. I am sorry if I have rubbed bibbity or anyone else up the wrong way - I am who I am and I'm certainly not pretending on here which sometimes offers a little light relief from a cheerful smile and rl caution conscious always of the potential to upset.

Very much hope the op has a nice night in tomorrow with the baby and that it is a night of sleeping and feeding for both, inhaling the last of that new born smell. Hope DH treats you to some lovely ironing water Smile

redwineformethanks · 11/05/2012 22:36

married in white I stand in awe of you. You are so gracious.

YourFanjoIsNotAHandbag · 11/05/2012 22:38

Marriedinwhite, I really admire you.

Babylon1 · 11/05/2012 22:41

Thank you marriedinwhite and I do apologise most sincerely for what you were subjected to at the hands of a thread I started in light hearted jest.

I shall suggest my DH gets me some lovely ironing water though Grin

I love the smell of ironing water

Babylon1 · 11/05/2012 22:58

Well done fanjo Wink

For those of you still slightly remotely interested, he STILL hasn't chosen which of the 7 to wear!!!

Maybe I should suggest he comes home for an outfit change between pints!!! Grin

Iron, oh yes device for sticking Hama Beads together.

I've no idea what it's connection to shirt is???

CheshireDing · 11/05/2012 23:20

I am now wondering if I am a lone oddball because I iron all the clothes in this house and I am 35 Hmm

DH does the cooking though Smile

YourFanjoIsNotAHandbag · 11/05/2012 23:30

Or he could take all 7 with him, and have a few "changes" throughout the night?
