To question WHY DH needs 7, yes 7 shirts ironing?

So DH is off out tomorrow night to wet our newest arrivals head, DS1 was born just two weeks ago today.

He has managed to round up most of his oldest and closest friends apart from one who married a dragon who will never in a million years let him come out to play to join him for an evening of fun and frolics in the local boozer...... All good so far!!

Then he asked me to iron a couple of shirts for him, still ok with me.......

He came downstairs with SEVEN, yes SEVEN shirts requiring the attention of the iron, with me on the other end of it!!!

Why??? I mean two I could understand, but 7?????

He would do it himself if I said no!! He knows ironing is one my guilty pleasures - no seriously!! I find it very therapeutic!!

All you giving me Biscuit would be horrified if you knew he bought mr a steam generating iron for mothers day last year!!! I was totally over the moon!!!!

Novack, why should mothers teach their sons to iron? surely it makes more sense for the fathers to teach, while they are ironing their own shirts anyway.

marriedinwhite · 11/05/2012 20:07

NovackNGood Oddly enought that's what the midwife said too Angry. Not very pleasant when a woman had a dying child in her arms.

Babylon1 · 11/05/2012 20:07

Ha ha at messy eater!!!

I doubt it's a date either, he'll be in the local boozer and seeing as we live in one of those cliquey villages where you can't even fart without someone reporting it to neighbourhood watch, the chance of him getting away with mtg an OW is about as likely as me getting in a pair of size 10 jeans ever again!!! Having a baby 2 weeks ago means she shouldn't iron and should sit down with a biscuit and cuppa instead? Alrighty then!

I agree with you op, it wouldn't be the ironing that riled me, it would be the sheer amount of it for one night out. I'd iron two and let him choose.

Babylon1 · 11/05/2012 20:09

I'm actually dreading the fashion show tmrw night!! I hate the "which jeans go with this shirt" conversation!!! Confused

I wish mine gave a shit. He would go out with a creased shirt and be happy about it. No fashion sense whatsoever.

Babylon1 · 11/05/2012 20:14

DH going out for the night also means I get ALL of the baby snuggles to myself for a whole night too, which is a bonus for me!!

I'm already excited for cuddles on the sofa with all 3 DCs munching chocolate and watching BGT final!!

I've also got a whole week of 'Enders to catch up on!! Ooh I'm excited!!! Grin

Oh BelieveInPink Blush

Sometimes I wish he would just throw any old thing on and walk out the door!! But unless he's at work where he looks a total scruffbag he likes to look half decent!!

Oh and my DF and bro are going too, so definitely not a date, unless you count Stella Wink Grin

He has 7 shirts that need ironing because he hasn't ironed them earlier! In my house, he wears them - he irons them

Babylon1 · 11/05/2012 20:36

I'm lucky IThinkItsJustMe - he's got 50+ to choose from so it could've been much much worse!!!

Is dh wanting to layer up on all 7 shirts so he doesn't need to take a coat or jacket?
