to think that the keeping of dogs for domestic purposes should be banned.

That?s it really. I am sick to death of having to watch my feet to make sure I don?t accidentally tread in dog muck left to steam by some selfish, lazy dog owner. I resent not being able to take 2yo DS to the park directly opposite my house because it?s used as a dog exercise ground and you can?t play toddler football without the ball and toddler falling into said dog muck. I hate that every time we go to the slightly nicer park there?s at least one dog without a lead who decides to come and sniff DS and that while he backs away the owner stands there laughing that ?he?s only being friendly?. I loathe and detest the particularly ?friendly? dogs who lick DS while I drag him away, probably just after eating another dog?s poo or a dead rat or some other disgusting thing they just found. I have personally seen the scars left on a young child by a ?friendly? dog turning savage and ripping the toddler?s cheek off. The problem of people getting bored of their dogs and dumping them in rescue centres is sickening. The stories of dogs being bred to fight, being neglected, being bred for ?beauty? despite the ?beautiful? characteristics causing the animals pain and suffering are beyond belief.

IMO domestic dog owners as a general class have proved that they are irresponsible and selfish. Fear of treading in dog poo on a pavement or in a park is common to everyone and I am so, so sick of people blaming it on a tiny minority. Domestic dog owners can?t be trusted to be responsible so they shouldn?t have them, end of. People should only be allowed to keep dogs for working purposes ? guide dogs, sniffer dogs, police dogs, sheep dogs etc. - if they are licensed.

I agree re: the poo bins. People are lazy but are likely to be less lazy if the poo bin is staring them in the face. I have to be honest, carrying a bag of stinking dog poo on a nice stroll makes it a lot less pleasant, so more poo bins please! Cheap and easy.

Have you ever had a dog? I can't help but feel you can't possibly have loved an animal as I love mine. Mine are part of the family, period. Dogs as domestic pets will never be banned.

People are lazy but are likely to be less lazy if the poo bin is staring them in the face. It's just common sense, isn't it?

Some salient points for you to take away from the thread, OP. Why don't you start a campaign and petition for more poo bins/pick-ups in your municipality? Not just good for dog waste but human litter as well. It seems that those of us on the thread who don't have this problem in our towns have all mentioned there being lots of bins available. Just a thought Smile.

This has to be the most unreasonable Aibu I've ever seen. And that takes some beating. OP YABVVVU.

Obviously domestic dogs should be banned as their owners put/let them out the house all day (and all night sometimes) unsupervised to wander around shitting in others peoples gardens and in public areas with no effort made to clean up the crap. Oh no wait...thats cats.
Well maybe dogs should be banned because other people dogs repeatedly climb through my open windows and trash my house and scare me senseless in the middle of the night. Oh no wait...thats cats.
Perhaps dogs should be banned because they routinely go out and kill small creatures and attack people who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Oh no wait...thats cats. (Ok I am biased due to years of visiting a friend whose grumpy cat attacks anyone who visits, drawing blood - if my dog did that it would not be tolerated!)
Seriously, I know there are some rubbish dog owners but generally dogs are not pets that wander around unsupervised imposing their will to kill and crap on the rest of the community....that would be cats!!!

Happy - Hehe you would really hate my cat then - she loves scaring people & attacking their pets in their own homes - it's her hobby. I have warned all my neighbours & said i will keep her in if she causes too much trouble.. but they say 'oh but she's really cute so we don't mind'.
Basically she acts like a pitbull but because she's a cutie fluffy wuffy cat with lots of pretty fur & big eyes - so she gets away with everything.
