out of the people i know, the working class ones have spotless homes.

the middleclass ones seem alot more messier and nowhere near as spick and span.
they also tend to dress their children in odd socks etc.

anyone else noticed this?

i actually think there is alot of truth in the OP if my family is anything to go by. I have obviously moved up a class Wink as my house is a shitheap and the family start wiping down my sides if they visit Blush

dovebird · 09/05/2012 17:54

hilly thats true.

Whatmeworry · 09/05/2012 17:55

Didn't Jilly Cooper say that the lower middle class had the tidiest homes. Mind you, is there still a lower middle class?

FioFio · 09/05/2012 17:55

Mind you, is there still a lower middle class?

no because they are actually working class

NameChangeaGoGo · 09/05/2012 17:56

Dunno why you're getting such a lot of stick OP.

dovebird · 09/05/2012 17:56

oh yes not ironing is def a middle class trait imo

I told my grandpa to go home a few weeks ago because I needed to hoover before the HV came round. He said 'Hoovering your house for a health visitor is terribly lower class, you know. Leave it'.

Confused
chandellina · 09/05/2012 17:57

I'd say it breaks down more by race. Oh wait, is that offensive to say?

dovebird · 09/05/2012 17:58

don't worry name change, doesn't bother me a jot

Pooka · 09/05/2012 17:58

Ds2 always in odd socks. I've given up trying to pair them now. And think he looks rather snazzy.

House not spotless. Untidy rather than unclean.

Am middle class. Clearly ;)

BumpingFuglies · 09/05/2012 17:58

Well I'm totally confused by stereotyping now Grin

And odd socks? Shocking. I expect the working classes have been nicking them, one by one.

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 09/05/2012 17:58

Oh I must have moved up to the upper class then

Fucks up your theory then op, sorry.

imnotmymum · 09/05/2012 17:59

wow I have been bumped up to MC !

dovebird · 09/05/2012 17:59

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 09/05/2012 18:00

What about the unemployed

dovebird · 09/05/2012 18:00

oh yeah, leaving washing on the lline for several days, also a mc trait

lol

signet2012 · 09/05/2012 18:00

Looking at my odd unpaired socks, my mismatching underwear, my shit tip of a house and the dog laid on my clean washing I am overjoyed this means I'm middle class!!!

I thought I was a skint working class underclass scrubber!

Would someone mind telling my bank I am Middle Class please. TVM.

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 09/05/2012 18:02

What if you are a SAHM with a messy house but your DH is a milkman?
Where does that fit in your theory?

dovebird · 09/05/2012 18:02

depends why they are unemployed, if they are the sort that actually don't want to work, they probably have v messy homes.
a sortof symptom of their depressive ways

if its just because they actually can't find work atm, probably v clean homes.

OP posts:
FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 09/05/2012 18:03

The people with the tidiest houses are the people with cleaners IMHO

My oven is spotless, I pay someone to clean it
But I am most definitely working class with a messy house
Go figure?

tethersend · 09/05/2012 18:04

What about the coal in the bath?

FarSideOfFuckingBalloons · 09/05/2012 18:04

Dovebird I was being sarky, not seriously asking

BumpingFuglies · 09/05/2012 18:05

I'm so glad we have you to clarify all this for us OP. Class explains perfectly why some have messy houses and some don't. No other factors need to be considered.

imnotmymum · 09/05/2012 18:05

Actually on reassessment of the shite scattered around my house I am positively upper class-that is going to be my excuse now. If my house too clean then I will be working class and how awful that would be Darling.

dovebird · 09/05/2012 18:05

lol yeah yeah
