to think people shouldlet a severely disabled little girl get off her school bus and walk across a tight lane to home with her escort without being verbally abused by members of the public?

some of whom are our neighbours Angry

someone has just tried to force her off the lane and back onto the bus ffs.

If I knew who it was I would be reporting them (for what who knows) The escort had to jump in front of her to guard her as the car wasn't going to stop :( it did obviously...maybe they saw the high viz Hmm

as a disclaimer I will say the lane is clear when they start to cross but she is physically disabled, she cannot do quick

what a shame, i imagine her escort must have been frightened also. wouldn't the duty of care of the council for its employees and the children for whom it is in loco parentis overwhelm any neighbour complaint? i'd try to get them to deal with it, get the cooncil transport people to write to them and say 'we've tried it your way but it's putting lives in danger so, we're sorry but you're going to have to take this one for the team'. cos you don't want to be speaking to neighbours about this, i think.

landofsoapandglory · 10/05/2012 10:18

Christ on a bike some people are right wankers, aren't they?

I think the bus should just stop in the middle of the lane to let your DD on and off . If that puts your neighbours out, for what, 10 minutes a day, then tough IMVHO.

inabeautifulplace · 10/05/2012 13:16

Outrageous! WTAF are they complaining about to all these people? Surely they cannot be saying " there's a disabled girl in the middle of the road who moves too slowly". If they are and the bloke has lost his temper while driving due to his selfish expectations, I'd speak to the police about harassment. Dammit, now I'm furious!

GrimmaTheNome · 10/05/2012 13:38

I'm getting furious too now. Where we live, the whole B road is quite often blocked by slow moving bodies - cows. Car drivers know they just have to wait till they are out of the way. Cows are big and could damage a car so the drivers stop and wait and don't harrass them (they may fume, but they wait). The difference with your DD is she's small and vulnerable and isn't liable to damage their precious paintwork if they get too close.

Birdsgottafly · 10/05/2012 13:42

I wouldn't allow this to continue any longer.

The driver is breaking his guidelines trying to accomodate the neighbours.

There has now been an incident that has put your DD and the escort at risk, so good reason not to continue, if there had of been an accident, questions would have been asked and the driver at least disciplined, doe she realise this?.

Is your landlord threatening you with any action?

Birdsgottafly · 10/05/2012 13:43

Just to add the council should name and shame these people in the local press.

It's a pity it cannot be 'leaked' Wink

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 10/05/2012 14:19

The driver shouldn't be disciplined! Possibly she should be told to stop in the middle of the lane, but seeing as she's been put under pressure by the OP's arsehole neighbour it's understandable that she's tried to accommodate him. Whatever, she is NOT the one in the wrong here.

Birdsgottafly · 11/05/2012 23:19

Unfortuately the driver is in the wrong, because their only duty of care is to their passengers.

The driver is breaking guidelines by not stopping in the most convienient placefor the passenger. The neighbour doesn't have tobe accommodated andshould be stood up to.

As a parent of a disabled child you have to put your trust in the LA having the rules in place to keep your child safe and that the staff stick to those rules.

maddening · 11/05/2012 23:39

Have you ever spoken to the neighbours?

mumeeee · 12/05/2012 00:10

YANBU. Your neighbours are vlearly bonkers and selfsh. I agree with other posters just ask the driver to stop the bus in the midle of the road,Aslo coplain to the council
