to think people shouldlet a severely disabled little girl get off her school bus and walk across a tight lane to home with her escort without being verbally abused by members of the public?

some of whom are our neighbours Angry

someone has just tried to force her off the lane and back onto the bus ffs.

If I knew who it was I would be reporting them (for what who knows) The escort had to jump in front of her to guard her as the car wasn't going to stop :( it did obviously...maybe they saw the high viz Hmm

as a disclaimer I will say the lane is clear when they start to cross but she is physically disabled, she cannot do quick

That's shocking, some people are animals when they get behind the wheel (although animals are much nicer!)

MrsMuddyPuddles · 09/05/2012 16:32

WTF! Is this a regular occurance, or did she just get unlucky with one knob-head?

lisaro · 09/05/2012 16:33

??? It seems like what you're saying is that she can't cross a road safely and stepped in front of a car(that stopped). If that is then she is a danger and should travel home by a safer method. If that isn't the case then tell us what is.

AnnoyingOrange · 09/05/2012 16:33

Poor dd. hope she is ok.

Thumbwitch · 09/05/2012 16:34

Of course YANBU - did you get the registration of the car?

Poor child, what foul people there are in the world. :( I hope she's all right.

twolittlemonkeys · 09/05/2012 16:34

:( and Shock There are so many eejits out there behind the wheels of cars. Angry

Sirzy · 09/05/2012 16:34

Is there no way the bus can pull in the other side of the road so she doesn't have to cross somewhere dangerous?

FioFio · 09/05/2012 16:35

yes, it's a regular occurrence

the bus pulls into the lane and it's only really a single track lane but there is enough room to squeeze a car through at a push. Escort gets off the bus, helps my dd off. Checks for traffic (it's always clear, she wouldn't get her off otherwise) starts to cross the traffic free road at slow pace BECAUSE SHE IS PHYSICALLY DISABLED. cARS COME BOMBING DOWN LANE AND BEEP, SHOUT AND TRY TO RUN HER OVER.

i SHIT YOU NOT

god that is awful
was it your dd
I would love to say it suprises me but sadly it doesn't

SinicalSanta · 09/05/2012 16:36

Poor wee girl
Maybe it was just a near miss type inident with the accompanying high temper, understandable rather than bigotted. Am I clutching St straws

lisaro · 09/05/2012 16:36

Ah, I get you now - did you get the number?

2shoes · 09/05/2012 16:36

sorry X post.

FioFio · 09/05/2012 16:37

It's not dangerous, it's outside our house. The only people making it dangerous are the brain dead morons who obviously have somewhere to go in a rush :(

OP posts:
SinicalSanta · 09/05/2012 16:37

Crossed with your last

Assholes

2shoes · 09/05/2012 16:38

shame you didn't get their number
(how are you havn't seen you in ages)

IAmBooyhoo · 09/05/2012 16:38

lisaro op explained that the road was clear when she started AND she was with an escort wearing a high vis jacket!! and what if this is her only way home?? what does she do just avoid going to school so that idiots with no patience have to stop for 1 minute to let a disabled child cross teh road?

op that is a fucking disgrace. do people have no patience at all? did escort gt a reg number? so sorry for your dd. i hope it hasn't put her off going that way again.

Bumply · 09/05/2012 16:39

Lisaro, the op said the lane was clear when her daughter started crossing, but a car that turned up while she was in the lane didn't want to stop and expected her to go back off the lane into the bus.
There's no excuse for that kind of impatience and it sounds like it was accompanied by verbal abuse.

FioFio · 09/05/2012 16:40

the escort didn't get the number and was really quite shaken. She told me the type of vehicle but there are two people up the lane with the said vehicle description and I don't know which one it was.

2shoes, I am fine thanks :)

Fio - perhaps you could get a road cone or 2 and stick them out on the road just opposite where the bus stops - that would stop the bastards speedsters by narrowing the lane so they couldn't do that.

A year or so ago I would have suggested you make representations to your council about some road safety measures - but I doubt you'd get anywhere in the current climate :(

FioFio · 09/05/2012 16:42

It makes me wonder whether if someone fell over on the lane it might be too much hassle to stop and they might just run over you to save time :o I am laughing now, why are people such knobs

Hear, hear OP. I work in a special secondary school and we have to unload 5 minibuses and (roughly) 7 taxis each morning with about 10 students (out of 70ish) who can get to class independently. I have seen some absolutely unbelievable driving outside the school (it's a very narrow road leading to a short cut through some estates and we have a little driveway/taxi rank for our transport)). It's only so long before there is an accident but there is little we staff (school staff and escorts) can do about it whilst people are so cretinously selfish.

Thumbwitch · 09/05/2012 16:45

Fio, I know you shouldn't have to, but can you provide the escort with a lollipop? Might slow the buggers down, although I have heard tell that there are some insane twats who actively aim at lollipop people! Shock

FioFio · 09/05/2012 16:48

how can they not realise that these children/people are disabled though?

I have some issues with overtaking of my other sons bus but at least he neuro typical and non physically disabled, so he can be quick, watch the traffic and look after himself. She can't. She is like a toddler in an almost teenage body that isn't working very well and she has a lady holding her hand to cross a very small bit of lane. I wouldn't even attempt to overtake it myself, it's so narrow. Surely people can see she cannot hurry up and something is amiss

OP posts:
saintlyjimjams · 09/05/2012 16:49

It's not your next door neighbours again is it?

I have occasionally had twats impatient people drive on the pavement around ds1 as they won't wait the 10 seconds it takes to get him on the bus. (He isn't physically disabled so it takes seconds - the bus is clearly a special school bus though). If they beep they get my biggest glare (and I go slower).

Thumbwitch · 09/05/2012 16:51

Ah Fio - you're making the assumption that they care. They don't. All they care about is getting where they want to be as fast as possible. Think about all the people who come roaring up behind horses and beep at them to get out of the way. Think about the ones who find it amusing to yell "10 points for a granny!" as they whizz past them on pelican crossings as soon as the lights change, regardless of whether said elderly person is out of the road yet or not (Honestly, have seen it happen).

These people are pig ignorant selfish twats who couldn't care less.
