To put an old plastic toilet seat in the recycling bin

Well it's white and plastic. Can it go in the recycling bin or should I throw it at the end of the garden? It's actually already in the bin, so if it goes in the bin truck will it make a loud sound when it gets crushed? Will the bin men knock on my door and tell me off fr putting it in there?

Where does one dispose of an old plastic toilet seat?

If I throw it at the end of the garden it wil join a broken toaster a broken grass trimmer and various other broken household appliances and other shit. I thought I'd do the right thing this time.

well i wouldn't bother myself. we had an old computer out the front under a tree for three years, i think mice nested in it in the end

Our recycling doesn't take "hard" plastics. Check your council's website.

They won't take it.
Our recycling service takes old clothes but NOT PANTS. As we found out to our cost Blush
Anything involving bums is a no I think.
I'd sling it in the normal bin.

End of the garden it is then. Might dust it over with some soil so it doesn't look blatantly obvious

YY that's the way

You need to cushion it with normal rubbish under and hidden under normal rubbish on top.
Don't know why, but that's the method.
Loads of plastic goes out in the bin, yours is just more boggy.

While we are on the subject...we have just had a new loo fitted because the old one was a silly expensive round effort which wasnt comfy at all and errr wasnt really shaped for purpose.We went out to the bin a while ago to find the plumber has jammed said round toilet into our black bin!!We cant get it out-what will the bin men do???

Is it heavy?

If it's not too heavy you could try putting a normal bag of rubbish on top and putting it out and then crossing your fingers.
Hopefully the vigorous shaking the lorry does will dislodge the porcelain.
Around here if they don't like it for some reason you get a label on saying why not and they leave it.

HIDING the naughty things under a normal bag of rubbish is KEY.

I have no idea why, I just feel it in my waters.

We have had a LOT of building work done recently. That is all I am going to say.

Before that I was a bin puritan, now I have gone to the dark side...

The pants incident was not to do with the builders BTW, but a normal pants based overhaul which left DH red faced when his pants were left out for all on the road to see with a big refusal sticker on them Grin

There was a thread a while back about getting rid of a vibrator and which bin it should go in.

It was decided to post it to Dave Cam as I remember......

Vibrator needs to have batteries removed and put in appropriate recycling.

Then wrapped and tied carefully in multiple bags like a super-duper pass-the-parcel.

Then conceal in with normal rubbish in normal bin bag, and put in the centre of the rest of the rubbish bags in the outside bin.

Sardine - your posts are reminding me of my childhood when I used to pick the top layers of the bin and throw my uneaten dinner in the middle so my Mum wouldn't notice. Very sneaky!!

I really do Blush. But in my defence, we have a very long garden and the junk is hidden by a small wall and two trees. It's hardly noticable really as there's swings and a trampoline in the way. The rest of my garden is more or less clean. Honest.

I don't know...don't judge me! I'm not a hoarder or anything! I have a very clean house! You can't put a broken toaster in the bin...or can you? The council tip is too far away.

Not judging, just intrigued! (And Envy because I love gardening but have a miniscule garden!)
