To want some bugger to notice that I've lost nearly two stone?

Narcisistic I know but I've worked so hard, lost nearly two stone and getting on for two dress sizes. I have two new holes in my belt, the last one two and a bit inches from the original hole I was using. Shouldn't someone have spotted this by now? A teeny compliment would be nice ( humph!)

You look ace!

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 01/05/2012 21:16

Who said that??

Oh it's you, come out from behind the lamp post Seuss :o

squeakytoy · 01/05/2012 21:16

YANBU, but some people would take offence at a comment, even if it was a compliment... you cant win these days...

DogEared · 01/05/2012 21:17

Oh! Seuss! Sorry I didn't say owt, but I though Angelina Jolie had come in, and I was being aloof...

Lovelynewboots · 01/05/2012 21:18

I have found the two stone that you lost, btw you look fantastic!

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 01/05/2012 21:18

Seriously though, that is an amazing loss!

Well done.

Are you mostly still wearing the same clothes though? Maybe you need to get some new outfits to compliment your new figure?

emsyj · 01/05/2012 21:20

YANBU - when I lost 2 and a bit stone on WeightWatchers a few years ago, the only people who noticed and commented were:

  1. A lady in my aerobics class who I'd never spoken to before, but bless her she came over at the end of class one day and said, 'Have you lost an awful lot of weight??' and
  1. A repulsive partner at the firm I was working at, whom I did not work with but who worked with a friend of mine, who commented to said friend, 'That emsyj has lost a truckload of weight'. Hmm

Goodness, DrSeuss - have you lost weight?

Thanks! I suppose it depends on the phrasing; "wow! You used to be such a bolster" might be problematic but "you look great," couldn't hurt.

I think some people see complimenting people on weight loss a bit like saying 'you were really fat before'.

I lost 5 stone a couple of years back and it wasn't until the very end that people started complimenting - I think they were wary of doing it before then.

DontmindifIdo · 01/05/2012 21:21

Well done!

Definately look at your wardrobe, if you aren't wearing new clothes it might not be as obvious.

DrSeuss · 01/05/2012 21:23

I have some of the same clothes but hope to lose another stone so don't want to splurge just yet.

It took ages before anyone made remarks to me about weight loss as well...perhaps when you get to the 2 stone mark you could treat yourself to a fabulous new outfit and a haircut? That might help.

technoduck · 01/05/2012 21:27

Ohhh your looking slim, have you lost some weight? Grin

PurplePidjin · 01/05/2012 21:29

I lost 2st over about 9m and the only people to notice were people I don't see often. Regular friends and family saw such a gradual change there was no point at which the huge change (16 to 12) was obvious

Congratulations!

QueenMaeve · 01/05/2012 21:39

Dr Suess you look fabulous!

buttonmoon78 · 01/05/2012 21:41

Whoa! Had to do a double take there! Grin

PoppyWearer · 01/05/2012 21:43

Wow, is that you, DrSeuss? I didn't recognise you at first, you look amazing! Have you lost weight? What's your secret?

I've lost 1st 10lbs and counting since the start of the year. No bugger has noticed that either, apart from DH. Sad. And I'm back in all of my old pre-pregnancy clothes now, not my fat clothes.

WorraLiberty · 01/05/2012 21:43

Well done! Grin

I don't mention any bugger's weight cos the last time I mentioned someone had lost weight she replied with, "Are you having a fucking laugh?"

I wasn't! Shock

treadonthecracks · 01/05/2012 21:44

You look fab!

How'd you do it?

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 01/05/2012 21:44

Gosh, you're looking thin DrSeuss I didn't see you there behind that lamp post Grin

BonzoDooDah · 01/05/2012 21:45

No buggers do notice until around 2 stone (depending on how much you had to lose) and how often they see you.
I've lost 2.5 stone in the last year but hardly anyone has said anything. Then I wore a new bra this week and a fitted top and loads of people asked if I'd lost weight. So that's the trick ... perk up your norks and the compliments will roll in Grin

DaenerysTargaryen · 01/05/2012 21:52

Well done, I've lost nearly 8lb so far, its really hard! 2 stone is massive!

DaenerysTargaryen · 01/05/2012 21:53

I mean a massive amount to lose Blush

See! Maybe that's why people don't say anything Grin

hatesponge · 01/05/2012 21:58

I lost nearly 5 stone last year, and I had to get to nigh on 4 stone lost (and go from a 22/24 to a 14/16) before people commented. Pissed me off a bit tbh, I was buying smaller & smaller clothes and no-one was mentioning I looked any different!

Weirdly though in the 6 months since then (in which I haven't lost any more - should shift another 2 stone ideally but am a bit lazy!) people keep asking me how much I've lost this year (nothing!) and telling me how much thinner I look than in January (when I was the same as I am now...)

People are weird. Be proud of yourself, you've done brilliantly :)

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 01/05/2012 22:02

Dr Seuss
Fab effort well done.

hatesponge you too.
