I hate regular tea. Does it taste like regular tea or just fruity?

I have never found one that isn't horrid. Sorry. Sad

Tanyaaah · 01/05/2012 20:54

Tastes nothing like the smell, but nothing like regular tea.....

PrisonerOfWaugh · 01/05/2012 20:58

Fruit teas are usually weak and insipid and taste mostly of boiled water.

Herbal teas are usually a much better bet - fennel is particularly nice. I also like Chamomile and Spearmint as a pre-bed drink.
And green teas are delicious and refreshing - but don't over steep.

try before you buy :)

ManicPanic · 01/05/2012 20:58

Perhaps start with something like earl grey tea, then move on to a redbush tea? Unless it's the fruity stuff you want to try (can be very acidic, though). Prefer the herbal ones to fruit anyday - apart from chamomile - yuck on it's own, fine with honey.

Teapigs the liquorice and mint is yummy.

NettoSuperstar · 01/05/2012 21:02

I think it's horrid, all of it.
I like my Earl Grey with milk (full fat) and sugar.
Herbal/fruit tea, isn't tea.
It's someone's cheap old piss masquerading as tea.

NormanTheForeman · 01/05/2012 21:04

It's nothing like real tea. I love real tea and think herbal teas = boiled bush. But if you hate real tea you may like them.......... Hmm

confusedpixie · 01/05/2012 21:06

Oo, Yogi do a delicious 'choco' tea, in fact I like most of yogi's range (that I've tried) but the choco is my favourite. It smells very chocolately and rich but has quite a delicate/subtle taste :) Clipper do a good white tea with vanilla too, and lightly brewed green teas are quite nice, as is a good peppermint in the morning (my boss makes me one for when I go in on a Monday morning, always wakes me up!)

for yogi, they seem to have changed the packaging though!

RevoltingPeasant · 01/05/2012 21:06

Three words:

Pukka. Pukka. Pukka.

Try McHappy's link. Seriously, I order them by the boxload. Not fruity, just yummy! Try vanilla chai, the peppermint and fennel one, the licorice one, and the sicilian lemon green tea is amazing!! I have converted my colleagues at work. Also the ginger one.

MarySA · 01/05/2012 21:06

Can't say I like herb tea very much though I have tried quite a few of them. Fruit teas I'm not keen on at all. They don't taste of anything much. I quite like Earl Grey with milk. And used to like red bush with milk but haven't had it for ages. I hate green tea.

confusedpixie · 01/05/2012 21:07

Ah, the EU site Blush

RevoltingPeasant · 01/05/2012 21:08

Also, before I discovered Pukka, I only drank Assam or Twining's 1708 (strong breakfast) tea. Also hated herbal tea, esp fruit. I had to give up caffeine after renal surgery for a bit and discovered these - get through about a box a week now.

Sparklingbrook · 01/05/2012 21:08

What Netto said. I have no idea who buys it. Confused Liquorice tea?

McHappyPants2012 · 01/05/2012 21:09

sorry you can only enter the code once :(

confusedpixie · 01/05/2012 21:09

McHappy: You need to buy a box before you can get them to send samples by the looks of things :(

mosschops30 · 01/05/2012 21:09

I love green tea with lemon.
I started drinking it because its supposed to speed up metabolism and burn fat quicker Hmm

Kladdkaka · 01/05/2012 21:10

My daughter loves them but I think that's because she makes them with milk and honey and that's all she can taste..

I like green tea with orange, or Jasmine or anything really to perk it up. Also bought it for weight-loss/health reasons in the beginning but now I just like it. Never found a nice fruit tea .

pointythings · 01/05/2012 21:13

I love Twinings Honeybush and Lavender, tastes a bit like Earl Grey but without the tannin - unfortunately very few shops stock it so I bulk buy direct online.

I do like the fruit teas too, probably because I learned to love hibiscus tea in Egypt. The advantage of fruit teas is that if work runs away with you, you can drink them cold.

NettoSuperstar · 01/05/2012 21:16

I like the smell of green tea, well in an air freshener anyway.
It tastes like someone pissed in a cup.

supernannyisace · 01/05/2012 21:18

I find fruit teas a bit - meh! One is okay now and again.

Rooibos tea is nice - I always have tea without milk. I also like nettle tea (tastes better than it sounds) and the strong flavoured teas like licorice.

Oh, and green tea is okay too.

SmethwickBelle · 01/05/2012 21:21

Peppermint is pretty much the only one I bother with. The fruity ones look like they'll taste of hot ribena, but instead they taste of sour hot water.

PurplePidjin · 01/05/2012 21:24

With fruit tea you have to leave the bag in the cup all the way through.

Experiment by diluting squash with hot water, if you like it you'll like fruit tea

Most herbal teas taste like horse piss and smell worse.
