Just out of curiosity really. Interesting to know how other children are getting on compared to DD.

puds11 · 28/04/2012 11:37

pigletmania · 28/04/2012 11:39

yabvvvvvu and you know it. Shameful behaviour from an adult. no not everyonme has done this

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2012 11:40

I know, it's awful isn't it? Just shows that some people are v interested. I would imagine book bag rummaging was done too.

pigletmania · 28/04/2012 11:42

my dd has (sn) so would be thoroughly depressed if I did that, tbh it never occured to me to look

Noqontrol · 28/04/2012 11:44

No I wouldn't do it. It wouldn't even cross my mind to do it tbh. It seems like a real invasion of privacy. I wouldn't be happy if someone did it to my dd either. If someone is worried about their own child's reading, or want to be reassured that their child is ahead of mine, I would rather they just asked me.

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2012 11:46

They could always ask the teacher Noqontrol. Grin

Noqontrol · 28/04/2012 12:54

Lol, that would be a better option Grin

musicismylife · 28/04/2012 13:40

Op. It is creepy & strange behaviour. Now pack the fucker up.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 28/04/2012 13:46

I just don't understand why you'd want to do this? Confused Aside from pure nosiness. Because you must appreciate that there are always going to be children who are reading at a higher level than your own child, and children who are reading at a lower level than your own child.

cory · 28/04/2012 13:54

To me, it's like looking into somebody's handbag in case they've left their bank statement in there.

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2012 13:55

It's like people who have a nose in other peoples' bathroom cabinets.

I did this once - by accident, DS brought the wrong book bag home, the other boy had the same first name and their surnames began with the same letter.
God, it was depressing!

ilovesprouts · 28/04/2012 14:27

i used to be a reading mom at dds old j&i school for 5 years i loved doing it as well.

Being a teacher I often had to go into book bags and more than once have come out with a handful of mouldy banana from which I had to extract coins for lunch money, clean youghurt off reading books and hunt down homework. There should be little in there to compare abilities of your child and I never went into them without asking the child as I feel it is good to show common respect, they would not go through my bag!
