DD does tennis. The courts belong to the posh public school and the tennis club rents them for lessons/games etc as the town doesn't have courts for us commoners.

DD has just phoned me to tell me the posh kids are refusing to leave and the teacher is taking them on.

I hope it doesn't end in fisticuffs.

I know i'm not unreasonable at all but as we all love a private vs state controversy i decided this would be the ideak place for it.

Off you go.......

Re musical instrument -

what are you if DS plays drums -posh, common or middle class ?

SunflowersSmile · 27/04/2012 19:13

Just very brave and possibly with no neighbours Whoopy.

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2012 19:14

My DC also have lessons on courts belonging to a "posh" school. (Actually, it's very posh)

All the pupils I have ever encountered at this school are incredibly polite. I cannot for a minute imagine them refusing to do anything an adult in authority told them to do. If you want DC with impeccable manners, I can let you know where you can pay £25Kpa (last time I looked, it may be more now) for great results. (I hear their academic results are non too shoddy, either)

My guess is, this school isn't proper posh, it just independent.

And yes, the DC at the school I send DS1 to would certainly leave the court if requested by an adult (although they may then sit and watch you play tennis, with smoking a few Marlborough Lights Hmm)

SunflowersSmile - you just transported me back in time to my school playground with your shout of 'Buuunndddle'! Oh happy days Grin!

Marilyn1980 · 27/04/2012 19:16

that'll be "the street pain in the arse" Wink

My neighbour's son plays the drums and he is shite, I was lying in the garden sunbathing studying in the summer and actually shouted, will you shut up!

Mrsjay · 27/04/2012 19:16

SunflowersSmile · 27/04/2012 19:17

And the shout of 'teacher' and everyone scatters apart from couple of squashed victims who get the blame...

HotPinkWeaselWearingLederhosen · 27/04/2012 19:19

I didn't know what it meant. I am innocent..

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 27/04/2012 19:20

What if your ds plays No Musical Instrument At All?!?! Confused

Maryz I got into trouble on a thread here recently for saying that rugby in Wales isn't posh and ignoring rugby league, which is northern and not posh. Even though I come from a fairly posh southern town where all the boys (including the common ones, but excluding the ones from all backgrounds who went to my shitty comp) played rugby. It's a minefiled, I tell you.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 27/04/2012 19:21

I played cello and recorder (several different recorders) and my DCs now at the school I went to play ukulele, ocarina, and do samba drumming... perches on centre line at end of net on folding stool and hopes for the best

Mrsjay · 27/04/2012 19:22

MorrisZapp · 27/04/2012 19:23

So what, a bunch of kids are mucking about on a tennis court. Why make a class issue of it?

SunflowersSmile · 27/04/2012 19:26

Shuffles feet and looks to ground..

DameHermione · 27/04/2012 19:26

I'm back. The poshos were defeted. Hurrah! A victory for the common(ish) kids

Whoopydofoxpoo · 27/04/2012 19:27

Our drums have those 'silent' practice pads on them - only aloud off when drum teacher comes to the house ( does that rate us as a bit posh as teacher comes to us ? Grin )

dexter73 · 27/04/2012 19:28

Hurrah!!

crazynanna · 27/04/2012 19:28

Hurrah!!!

SunflowersSmile · 27/04/2012 19:28

Did they just shuffle off or did they put up a fight.. anticlimax?

DameHermione · 27/04/2012 19:28

I feel it is a class issue morris. It is important. And i hatte to miss an opportunity for unreasonableness.

The creme de la creme de la creme. Ad infinitim.....

Maryz? Maryz! Is that gum you chewing? 10 points from FruitShoot!

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2012 19:28

Posh kids have drum kits, which sit in the corner and gather dust.

Middle class kids have drum kits, usually the dyslexic ones who have given up on piano or whatever as reading music was really challenging. Their parents put up with it because it's an "instrument"

Whoopydofoxpoo · 27/04/2012 19:28

Jolly good show !
