OP posts:
eurochick · 22/04/2012 19:05

TBH, I wouldn't relax as I would be waiting to be thrown out.

notaniphoneownerjustabadtypist · 22/04/2012 19:08

The 5* hotel must be wise to this or everyone would be doing it??!

StealthPolarBear · 22/04/2012 19:08
Hmm
YouAREworthIt · 22/04/2012 19:10

If you do it you need to be prepared for the embarrassment when they catch you and ask you to leave...

MardyBra · 22/04/2012 19:10

YABU. The 5* guest are paying extra to have a pool which fewer guests are using.

scuzy · 22/04/2012 19:11

if you want to use the pool and cant stand "food thats not cooked fresh" Hmm why didnt you just book the 5* ye cheeky mare!

nothingoldcanstay · 22/04/2012 19:17

Who cares really, you're all on holiday.

Who says the five star people paid more for a better service? There are so many prices paid for exactly the same holiday I don't think that's an issue. If the five star can't be arsed to control who uses the hotel then that's down to the hotel.

scuzy · 22/04/2012 19:19

nothingoldcanstay what kind of attitude is that??? low security so its a free for all and hotel to blame?

StealthPolarBear · 22/04/2012 19:21

So should the OP sneak in the door of any luxury hotel in this country to use the facilties?

scuzy · 22/04/2012 19:22

apparently so Stealth as long as no security sure they are just asking for it!!

out of interest OP will you be bringing any kids to the next door free for all pool?

ilovesooty · 22/04/2012 19:25

It's more than a bit cheeky.

MardyBra · 22/04/2012 19:26

Would you go into a cinema or theatre you hadn't paid for?

Imo, this is the same thing - you're getting a leisure experience without paying for it.

nothingoldcanstay · 22/04/2012 19:27

Still see don't why it matters. She's not stealing anything is she?

Lots of hotels have deals with other hotels or gyms. You can go to other hotels and buy drinks or eat in their restaurants. It's not criminal in my eyes.

Teeb · 22/04/2012 19:28

yabvu.

You want to stay at the 5* then by all means book yourself a room and lounge around by the pool with the drinks you like.

MardyBra · 22/04/2012 19:28

Actually I do equate it to stealing. She's using facilities when she hasn't paid for the right to do so - like my example of going into a cinema without paying above.

Teeb · 22/04/2012 19:29

nothingold would you not be a bit pissed off through if you came down to the pool and there were no seats or sun loungers because people from outside the hotel had snuck in and taken all of the room?

nothingoldcanstay · 22/04/2012 19:30

Sneaking into a cinema is one thing. Using the cinema toilets is another.

Crashing a five star room -not on. Using the pool - who cares.

Sassybeast · 22/04/2012 19:30

You seriously think you can just waltz into a five star hotel and no one will bat an eyelid?
Jeez - chat about brass necks Shock

crazyspaniel · 22/04/2012 19:30

If it doesn't matter, then there's no problem with being upfront with the hotel and telling them you'll be using their pool when you're not a resident, is there? Just to make sure.

MardyBra · 22/04/2012 19:31

nothingold - complete aside, but have you considered capitalising.

Are you "NoThinGold" or "NothingOld" (or even "NotHinGold" as I first read it).

nothingoldcanstay · 22/04/2012 19:32

I would be pissed off if I couldn't sit by the pool yes. If the hotel (and a five star one) can't control who comes in that would annoy me. If they don't care I'm not sure why the op should.

MardyBra · 22/04/2012 19:34

"Crashing a five star room -not on. Using the pool - who cares."

Sorry but that doesn't stack up. The pool is part of hotel experience the guests are paying for.

What about a swimming pool that's not part of a hotel then? It's not reasonable to sneak into the pool at the local leisure centre and have a free swim.

Teeb · 22/04/2012 19:34

Who say's the hotel doesn't have security out of interest op? Is it a hotel you've freeloaded from before, or is there some secret network where freeloaders can tell each other which fence they should crawl under and which hotels don't have security?

VivaLeBeaver · 22/04/2012 19:35

I saw this happen in a 5* hotel I was staying at in France. Some local French people clambered down a banking and stopped by me in the outdoor hottub and asked me in French where the changing room was. I was a bit suprised and directed them to the changing rooms by the indoor pool. They then sneaked in the back door between the pool and the outdoor hottub.

Then had a bit of a think and realised it wasn't on. Large group of French lads sticking out a mile in an English guest, only hotel. Plus the pool wasn't very large so diidn't want riff raff clogging it up. Grin

I told reception and they were botted out and for the rest of the time I was there there was a hotel worker manning the hot tub door.

ilovesooty · 22/04/2012 19:35

I think it's stealing as well. It's different when one hotel has an advertised deal with another to allow non residents to use the facilities.
