Went shopping this morning. Always check my receipt as been strung lots of times with offers then don't get properly reflected when you pay.

Anyway bought some steak and kidney pies for DP. should have been £2.14 but when i looked at the receipt they had scanned through at 54p!

Not exactly a fortune but felt so happy!! Was tempted to go back in and buy up their stock but mum was due to bring DS home so i had to get back

lifesalongsong · 21/04/2012 21:52

You saved £1.60, bet you feel even better now Grin

AgentZigzag · 21/04/2012 21:52

You should tell them, it's people like you who'll end up bankrupting them Hmm

Yeah right Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/04/2012 21:59

Maybe they were on some sort of special offer you hadn't noticed.

Morph2 · 21/04/2012 22:02

they were on special offer 2 for £3 thats why i first noticed when i checked my receipt as they hadn't adjusted for the deduction, then i noticed it was because i'd only been charged 54p

I went to buy a summer jacket the other day for £20

Then I realised when I got to the till that it was half price

The woman scanned it and said it was coming up as £6 and couldn't understand why.

Then she cancelled and scanned again and it came up as £4 so that's what she charged me Shock

I was tempted to ask her to scan it again to see if I could get it free Grin

AgentZigzag · 21/04/2012 22:09

Kept it going and they'd have been paying you worra Grin

WorraLiberty · 21/04/2012 22:13

That's what the woman at the till said Grin

Then the Security guard gave me that 'Get the fuck out' look Sad

Morph2 · 21/04/2012 22:54

Actually that reminds me of something that happened to my uncle. He used to buy nearly at its date chicken for the cat (spolit thing). He bought quite a few packs one day that had been reduced and prior to being reduced they had been buy X get £Y off. When they scanned through they still took the money off, he was also buying some other stuff at the time and didn't take alot of notice and still paid on his card but when he checked his receipt after the total had only come to 10p

Nah just kidding Grin
I bought some shorts the other day and they came up as £7 instead of £19.99, was well chuffed. Tis the little things in life don't ya know Smile

WorraLiberty · 21/04/2012 23:00

You can get half price pot??

Tell me more....

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame · 21/04/2012 23:08

In my Tesco delivery last week I'd ordered a small bottle of own brand vodka . It was obviously out of stock but instead of substituting it for a same size branded bottle which would have been worth a couple of quid more they sent me a full size bottle and price-matched it! I was smiling all day and my evening tipple has tasted all the better for being on Mr Tesco :)

AliceInArcadia · 22/04/2012 02:50

On Thursday I sent a stroppy email to an online store to let them know that according to their courier, my goods had been delivered however they had not yet shown up.

The next day I received:

  1. A package containing my order; and
  2. An email from the store with a discount code for the £35 order.

Moral dilemma?

marathonrunner · 22/04/2012 08:10

No dilemma in my opinion. Just treat the voucher as compensation for keeping you waiting. It's not like they can't afford it anyway.

ibizagirl · 22/04/2012 08:35

I had two days last week like this. Bought a dvd from Sainsburys for dd and it didn't work as it had massive scratch right across it so i changed it. New one didn't work either so took it back and asked for refund. Customer services gave me 5 pounds more than i paid for it. Great! Next day at Tesco i bought some sellotape in sale (not very exciting i know) which was marked as 39p so got two. When scanned at self service i noticed it said £1.97 (it was Scotch tape). Took it to customer services who had a look at shelf and came back with ticket. My item was put in wrong place but as they give back double difference i had 6 pounds odd back plus tapes! Maybe i should have got about 10 packs! Done well those two days.

hairylemon · 22/04/2012 09:23

yanbu I love it when this happens.

Later on though there will be an influx of sanctimonious "its dishonest" "people like you push the price up for the rest of us" "how can you sleep at night" zzzzzzzzz

hairylemon · 22/04/2012 09:23

Alice the only dilemma there is what to buy with your voucher Grin

Debsbear · 22/04/2012 09:28

Diet Pepsi 600ml bottles are 27p each in our local Tesco and they are on the Buy One Get one free!!
Firstly, YANBU at all, secondly, if that is the price they scanned at then that is the price they are. I work for Tesco and there s no way that anyone would have charged you more even if you pointed it out. The most they would do is change the label so future customers know what the price is. Don't worry (and go back and buy the rest!!)

hermionestranger · 22/04/2012 09:28

Well in my tescos they have stumbled across a carte of Christmas gear. So ended up with 40metres of wrapping paper for FREE! My friend who is chair of the PTA has managed to get loads for the Xmas fair! Grin

Cheers Tesco!

Well I'd feel like a selfish git, gonna hide this now.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/04/2012 12:53

Morph - a similar thing to what happened to your uncle, happened to dh. He went into Tesco late on in the day, and, in passing, picked up three bunches of flowers for me, because they were reduced. They'd also been on BOGOF, and when they went through the till, they came up as owing dh 2p! The lady on the till was Confused, as was dh, so they got an equally Confused supervisor to have a look. In the end, they kept the receipt for their black museum/staff noticeboard and dh got the flowers for free without the 2p.

I do think there is a moral difference between benefitting from something that's gone through the till at a different price than you expected, and benefitting from something not going through at all. I'm sorry, Warren, but I think you should have told the store of their mistake and offered to pay the £50. Quite apart from anything else, if anything goes wrong with the chest of drawers, you will have no way of getting any sort of action from the store as you'll have no proof of having purchased it.

I have gone back into Sainsburys to pay for a 40p sherbert fountain that I found under my handbag when I went to put the trolley back.

tinkertitonk · 22/04/2012 14:41

I am a major shareholder in Tescos. You owe me you naughty people.

valiumredhead · 22/04/2012 15:05

I live for moments like that OP, they really make my day too Grin

sparkle12mar08 · 22/04/2012 15:14

I got £20 worth of fruit in Waitrose for £6 the other day because of the way the offers go through the tills. I always go in at about 4:30 or 7:30 to pick up reduced stock, and offers like bogof's etc always get taken of the end and are based on the full price not the reduced price. If there's a situation where they'll end up owing me money I always make sure I buy something else we'll need too as they won't give you the money otherwise. I'm the queen of this sort of bargain hunting!
