To knock on the door of every house we overlook to find out who sent this?

Dh found a note hat had been put through the door last night/this morning:

"To the pervert!!!

Just to let you know we can see you. you're lucky my wife would rather get the police involved otherwise I would hit you. if I catch you perving again I will be round to knock you out and shut your dog up when you let it out at night"

Whoever has sent it (assuming it is someone we overlook) has walked a long way round to post it and would have had to work out where to post it.

I wouldn't have thought it was meant to be for us except we are the only people around here with a dog.

So am planning on knocking on every door this morning to find out who is threatening to knock someone out. Bad idea?

Maybe that's why he hates your dog? Grin Probably has cream carpets throughout, dontcherknow ...

A few years ago I had a visit from the Police. Apparently, I had been showering and displaying my body to the old witch who's house backs onto ours. Bearing in mind that her house runs at right angles to ours if that makes sense! I have an end of terrace and hers is on the next road.

Showed police that not only did I have frosted glass in the bathroom window, I also have a shower curtain that hangs across the window.

They weren't amused, and she got cautioned for wasting police time.

For some reason she just loved complaining about several neighbours, and yet if you bumped into her in the street you would have thought butter wouldn't have melted in her mouth.

Luckily she is now no longer with us. Probably giving Satan hell..Grin

(LOL I love it here! When things are bad, someone always manages to make us have a giggle :)).

Sorry OP you are having this problem, I also say go to the Police.

RoxyRobin · 17/04/2012 09:01

Think you've coined a new phrase there, Graham - it's definitely going to catch on chez Robin Grin.

Have you not even got a dog, anchovies?

RoxyRobin · 17/04/2012 09:04

Oh, sorry - see you have.

DH is always frisking about our house ungarbed. Anyone peering through the window could see him (if they have a pair of binoculars!).

I think people who send this sort of note tend to be cowards afraid of confronting you face-to-face, but I'd be happier logging it with the police to be on the safe side.

Nancy66 · 17/04/2012 09:06

Does your dog bark at night? Because that is bloody annoying.....

doctordwt · 17/04/2012 09:09

Feckless, if he makes a habit of shitting on his own feet, he's hardly going to have chosen cream carpets surely Grin

mercibucket · 17/04/2012 09:15

Pmsl

But back to the op ...

Yes, report to police

I would then type a short note explaining that you have been troubled by anonymous threatening letters and have reported it to the police and if anyone has received similar letters could they please also pass them on to the police. Much obliged

And go stick that through all the neighbours doors

Make sure the police go door knocking too - they can prob send a community bobby rou d sometime

Shit himself in the foot has cheered me up no end!

Our dog sometimes does a little woof when he wants us to open the back door but big gardens so can't believe it would annoy someone that much.

Groovee · 17/04/2012 09:17

I'd take it to the police.

mrstiredandconfused · 17/04/2012 09:27

Deffo police - if nothing else it can be kept on file so if anything else were to happen there is already something there to identify that there is a problem with one of the neighbours.

We had a threatening note on our car once - told us to stop parking on a particular street (never parked in front of anyone's house iyswim) and to take our litter with us. Dh and I are the most anti-litter people you can get (to the point of picking up offending item and handing it back with a sweet "i think you dropped this!" Blush ) Reported to the police and apparently there had been lots of problems with a couple of the residents. It never happened again.

Graham that is officially my new favourite phrase! Grin

QuintessentialShadows · 17/04/2012 09:30

Police.

"shit himself in the foot", is in fact a Norwegian expression ; "bæsje på egen legg." But it has a more runny, than bullet-like quality.....Grin

as you were.

Nancy66 · 17/04/2012 09:31

keep your dog in - a yappy/barking dog at night is an awful thing for anyone to put up with.

the size of the garden is irrelevant, the noise will carry.

Flightty · 17/04/2012 09:37

I've always admired the Norwegians Smile

Vixxen · 17/04/2012 09:37

This definitely sounds like one for the police. Although my initial response would be to find out who it is and leave a nice big dog turn on the front doorstep for them!!

I'd hate to be accused of something like that. I'm always having a look out the window too (but my front window is practically next to the pavement - always getting people having a look in too!)

Hope you get it sorted out soon OP

Fecklessdizzy · 17/04/2012 09:39

doctordwt Grin Thinking went thus ... OP's dog's doings + Note-Sending-Weirdo's tootsies = carpet Doom and Neighbourly Discord.

On a more sensible note, I'd say let the police know. Actual police, not the community lot, who are all mouth and trousers in my experience.

villagegossip · 17/04/2012 09:41

Keep the dog in? Ridiculous - but you would be better walking it last thing at night or go out in the garden with it to stop it barking.

What's your partners thoughts on this? Did he look outraged or embarrassed?

CurrySpice · 17/04/2012 09:43

If you do report it to the police I expect they'll just log it. I doubt they will carry out house-to-house enquiries as Merci suggests Grin

Mrskbpw · 17/04/2012 09:44

My mum's best friend objected when the neighbour at the bottom of her garden put in a planning application for an extension as she worried they'd be very overlooked. Her objection was over-ruled, the extension was built and it's not as bad as she thought. BUT she can see everything that happens in the neighbour's bathroom. She has four kids and they watch the neighbour instead of TV.

But anyway, yes I'd go to the police. Maybe it's like in Friends when Joey can't find the hot girl and they've got the wrong house?

Bucharest · 17/04/2012 09:44

What'sthe dog got to do with anything?

Is it a pervy dog? Confused

We lived opposite a house that had a frosted glass bathroom window......made not a jot of difference. Could see him shaking his willy dry, scratching his bollocks, rubbing his hands down his pants. everything.

AwkwardMaryHadAnEasterLamb · 17/04/2012 09:45

We had an odd note once...the police took it very seriously and were great. Turned out the man who sent it was mentally ill and had stopped his medication. they really helped me not to feel scared by explaining that it was random...

LentillyFart · 17/04/2012 09:48

Nancy why are you banging on about the dog? If you've got aggro with a barking dog start a thread about it - don't keep harping on here. Very boring.

Nancy66 · 17/04/2012 09:49

The note mentions the dogs - if it's barking at night then I do understand how annoying it is

NowWeKnow · 17/04/2012 09:49

Yes Merci's suggestion is good. If you go to the police before they do it'll reinforce the fact that you've done nothing wrong but they certainly have delivering threatening notes.
