To knock on the door of every house we overlook to find out who sent this?

Dh found a note hat had been put through the door last night/this morning:

"To the pervert!!!

Just to let you know we can see you. you're lucky my wife would rather get the police involved otherwise I would hit you. if I catch you perving again I will be round to knock you out and shut your dog up when you let it out at night"

Whoever has sent it (assuming it is someone we overlook) has walked a long way round to post it and would have had to work out where to post it.

I wouldn't have thought it was meant to be for us except we are the only people around here with a dog.

So am planning on knocking on every door this morning to find out who is threatening to knock someone out. Bad idea?

Personally I'd take it to the police rather than go knocking on doors. It's threatening behaviour and you could make matters worse by trying to sort it yourself.

CrystalMaize · 17/04/2012 08:39

Very bad idea. Contact the police.

FizzyLaces · 17/04/2012 08:40

Police here too!

ChickenSkin · 17/04/2012 08:40

Why would they send that though? do you make a habit of "watching" the neighbours?

doctordwt · 17/04/2012 08:41

Police, definitely. A much more effective way to solve the issue!

paddlepie · 17/04/2012 08:41

Contact the police. Is your DH definitely not perving btw Grin

anchovies · 17/04/2012 08:42

No we don't watch the neighbours! Although I did have a panic cos one of them has got a very cute lab puppy that I admired playing in a neighbours garden the other morning (dh pointed out that's hardly perving!!)

Would the police do anything?

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 17/04/2012 08:43

Police unless you want even more trouble.

ChickenSkin · 17/04/2012 08:43

Maybe it was meant for the neighbours with the lab puppy?

Bucharest · 17/04/2012 08:44

It sounds like they are getting the police involved anyway, no? (as the wife has persuaded the husband not to thump your dh) so I guess you'll find out sooner or later!

Catsmamma · 17/04/2012 08:45

is there any possible pervert behaviour that might have been misconstrued??

I am often out taking photos of sunrises/sunsets/star trails and hanging about with a camera on a tripod in the dark gets some looks. There are only a dozen houses in the whole village so they are used to me now though!

Ditto binoculars, we are a field away from the sea and I often scan for dolphins, watch boats, and then wave at the neighbours when they see me!

...godsake, I am that nosy old neighbourhoodwatch woman, aren't I???

anchovies · 17/04/2012 08:45

Can't believe it, they live opposite so don't know how they could be perving sideways IYKWIM. Plus it's tiny so can't believe anyone could hear it barking outside

ajandjjmum · 17/04/2012 08:46

Tbh Chicken, I doubt the OP would have bothered posting if they made a habit of 'watching' the neighbours.

I'd go to the Police too - would make me unsettled.

GrahamTribe · 17/04/2012 08:48

I think you have a result here! The idiot has shit himself in the foot - he's threatened your DH and your dog and then identified himself to the police! Way to go, smartass!

So the culprit you're seeking is a dog-hating coward, married rather than cohabitating, who is not very bright at all. With luck that should narrow it down some.

GrahamTribe · 17/04/2012 08:50

PMSL, sorry, I meant he has hit himself in the foot, not shit himself there. Though that would be good too.

SarahStratton · 17/04/2012 08:50

Shit himself in the foot. Grin

SarahStratton · 17/04/2012 08:51

That's better than Judy rutting and shaking her jowls at me Graham

Catsmamma · 17/04/2012 08:51

hahha shit himself in the foot

:o :o

GrahamTribe · 17/04/2012 08:51

SHOT! SHOT! Shot himself in the foot, not hit or shit!

Catsmamma · 17/04/2012 08:54

you're not making this any better grahamtribe :o

ZillionChocolate · 17/04/2012 08:55

I'm goimg to adopt "shit himself in the foot", just have to learn to say it without laughing.

OP, go to the police.

GrahamTribe · 17/04/2012 08:55

Ilovedaintynuts · 17/04/2012 08:56

Are you sure your DH is flashing the neighbours when you're not around? I don't trust anybody when it comes to sex, to be honest.

helpyourself · 17/04/2012 08:56

Grin Graham.

But seriously OP, take it to the police.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 17/04/2012 08:57

Yes. Go to the police. Anyone cowardly enough to send an anonymous note, won't reveal themselves on the doorstep.
