To think Ben and Jerry's ice-cream is crap

I love ice-cream, we've always been good friends, hardly ever fallen out. We go through periods of losing touch but always get back together in the end. But I just have no love for Ben and Jerry's, any of their varieties. There's always too much going on. There'll be caramel, chocolate bits, marshmallows, brownie bits and God knows what else, plus it's too sweet. Their pudding is well and truly over egged.

For me there's little that can compare with a soothing scoop of Haagen Dazs strawberry cheesecake although my keen eye did spot that they've a new mint choc variety out. I'm saving up that encounter till I'm most in need of an ice cream fix.

Yanbu, Brucciani ice cream is the only one worty of mention, we're fortunate enough to have a Brucciani ice cream parlour a few miles up the coast, their hot fudge sundaes are to die for.

Close 2nd is McKays clotted cream ice cream and the lakeland cream one, don't need none of these fancy chopped up bits.

YABVU! I love B&J's! When we went to Vermont last year we went to the factory and I tried to have some everyday! They have a million (or so it seems) more flavours that here, creme brûlée or red velvet anyone? I can't wait to try Oh my!
Oh and I also have an ice-cream machine I love too! Grin

kiwijesta · 16/04/2012 16:16

Than here, sorry have ice-cream fingers!

belgo · 16/04/2012 16:16

Haagen daz has a creme brûlée flavour. Although real creme brûlée is a lot nicer. It's not supposed to be ice cold.

BonkeyMollocks · 16/04/2012 16:17

YABVVU!!!
Ben and Jerrys is the monkeys bollocks of all ice cream Grin

minipie · 16/04/2012 16:17

YANBU. It's way, way too sweet. As is most Haagen Dazs. But then I'm very fussy about ice cream and only really like bitter chocolate or "natural" flavours.

TheProvincialLady · 16/04/2012 16:20

It's over sweet, over sickly, nauseating and full of poor quality ingredients. I can't bear it.

TinkerSailerSoldierSpy · 16/04/2012 16:30

YABU, ben and jerrys have Phish Food, officially the best ice cream in the world XD

ragged · 16/04/2012 16:58

Had a brief Love Affair with Phish Food 7 years ago.

CremeEggThief · 16/04/2012 17:08

YABU! We had the Karamel Sutra one for the first time yesterday and it is delicious.

squoosh · 16/04/2012 17:19

Love the idea of people trotting off to Vermont on their hols to visit the home of Ben and Jerry's :) That's true love.

Reminds me of the Chinese tourists who have their photo taken at the Clark's shoe factory, wherever that is in the UK.

YANBU Luca of Musselburgh is the best ice cream.

PeppaTwig · 16/04/2012 17:29

YABU Phish food is the most amazing thing and now they do it in a frozen yoghurt variety so its practically one of my 5 a day...

ElephantsAreMadeOfElements · 16/04/2012 17:30

Full Vermonty is back? I'm not fussed about the rest of Ben & Jerry's but I really like that one.

Nicest ice cream is Laverstoke Park licquorice. It sounds a bit Hmm but you'll have to trust me.

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 16/04/2012 17:30

The only one I like is tge brownie choc yogurt yun

chocolatecheesecake · 16/04/2012 17:33

Oatmeal cinnamon was the best Ben and jerry's. Cant understand why they stopped doing it. Cherry Garcia a poor second.

LittleMissMcFartyPants · 16/04/2012 17:34

YABVU to mention B+J when my freezer is empty and I'm in my pjs

Cherry Garcia

AutumnSummers · 16/04/2012 17:36

YABU. The Cookie Dough flavour is a guarenteed foodgasm.

janelikesjam · 16/04/2012 17:36

I dont' really like any commercial ice creams that much, which is annoying. So cheap as chips ice-cream is pretty much as good as expensive stuff.

Are there any good ice cream "parlours" near you? Have you ever tried home-made, yum.

squoosh · 16/04/2012 17:42

A new Nardini's has opened in Glasgow. I lick the wondow as I walk past but haven't yet sampled their wares. I think ice cream is the most efficient and tasty way to quickly consume 156,545,879,234 calories. I just find B&J an unsatisfactory way of doing this.

kitcatcandy · 16/04/2012 17:42

Lemon curd ice cream sounds nice. Nigella lawsons margarita ice cream is similar, but not one for the children. I think if you like lemon you will like nigella limey boozy ice cream too.

Meglet · 16/04/2012 17:44

yabu.

Haagen Dazs tries to be sexy and grown up, when IMHO it's very boring.

Give me a tub of cookie dough or chocolate brownie B&J and I'm happy.

howhardcanthisbe · 16/04/2012 17:47

Ooooo, where's the nardini's in Glasgow. Now THAT'S the best ice cream. Fact

Starwisher · 16/04/2012 17:47

I love the brownie frozen yoghurt they do

Im on weight watchers so i love a scoop of that in a bowl with stawberries, blackberries and pomegranete. Heavenly and only 3pp

kickingKcurlyC · 16/04/2012 17:47

Tesco chocolate-salted caramel-hazelnut ice cream is nice.

Slightly, very slightly, too sweet. But only if I'm pretending I'm judging masterchef.
