Pushed over the edge by benefit cheats!

I'm getting increasingly annoyed with my neighbours family, we're very close and have been for a long time, but they are just so loose cheeky it makes me want to do something! But at the same time I don't know if I should just mind my own!!

My neighbour has three daughters;

Daughter 'A' lives in a council property with her children and claims all her entitled benefits as a single parent. Her long term boyfriend also lives with her, and he works full time earning a lot of money. He owns his own property which they rent out to make more cash for themselves!

Daughter 'B' lives in a council property with her son and claims benefits as a single person, although her partner also lives there and works full time.

Daughter 'C' (this is what's really pissed me off today!). She is married and lives with her husband and children in their own (mortgaged) property. They both work and earn good money. She however has made a dodgy application to the council housing list and has been offered a property which they are goin to accept! They plan to sell their home!

It annoys the hell out of me that so much money is being fraudulently claimed, and that it is clearly so easy to do. I really want to dob the cheeky bastards in, although am abit scared they'll find out it was me! And don't know if I should just mind my own beeswax!

I'd give up if I were you, sleepy

JosephineCD · 09/04/2012 18:55

No, they were evidence of the same people committing fraud time and time again, on an almost weekly basis.

Serialkipper, you would have a job reporting me to the police for theft from my employer, I own my own business.

Maybe working for the Fraud dept did give me a negative view of the benefits system in general, and benefit fraudsters in particular. It just makes me angry that so much of our money is just given away like that, to people who contribute very little towards society.

LadyBeagleEyes · 09/04/2012 18:57

Arf at somebody accusing someone of making friends on the internet who's on

PerryCombover · 09/04/2012 18:58

I AM REAL

SerialKipper · 09/04/2012 18:58

Oooh, so you might be committing tax fraud then? I'd best report you to HMRC, just in case. I hear they're lovely people!

Anniegetyourgun · 09/04/2012 18:58

I haven't noticed anyone here denying that claiming benefits fraudulently is wrong. I doubt many people are opposed to an effective method of rooting out such practices. The anger, disbelief and (highly amusing) derailment on this thread is due to a disagreement about the extent to which benefit fraud affects the economy - and really, the official figures don't suggest it is enormously significant in the scheme of things - coupled with a high degree of scepticism as to whether the family mentioned in the OP actually exists is genuinely acting illegally.

PerryCombover · 09/04/2012 18:59

Everyone does illegal stuff they just forget it whilst saddling up their high horse

IamTheSandInYourVagina · 09/04/2012 19:00

It's true though sleeepy. I do find it hard to make real friendships. Maybe this is why I like being the queen here on Mumsnet, it validates me in some way.

God. What a realisation. I've just realised that my time here has all just been a massive waste of time. Oh god. Oh god. I could have been curing cancer or something.

I repent! I REPENT!

Thanks sleepy. You've changed my life!

FAREWELL MUMSNET, FAREWELL FOREVER!!!!

LineRunner · 09/04/2012 19:01

Josephine, It's just not coming across as a very effective fraud department, really.

catgirl1976 · 09/04/2012 19:01

Ah

I do hope her vagine is less itchy out in the real world

PerryCombover · 09/04/2012 19:01

I dunno who you are sandyvulva

Anniegetyourgun · 09/04/2012 19:02

Hush, child. It's not like you really exist or anything is it.

SuePoiblybilt · 09/04/2012 19:02

Be free, Sandysnatch. I shall think of you often...........

they NEVER stopped my money when investigated

Obviously the op was a set up,even so maybe i missed it but why has this turned into the usual DLA/ESA thread when these things havent been mentioned

cant we keep to the original posting (not that it seems real) debate whats been written and them circumstances otherwise its always descends into something else

catgirl1976 · 09/04/2012 19:03

When I was at college there was a girl nicknamed "Sandy Crack" as she shagged someone on the beach in her lunch break on the first day.

Glitterknickaz · 09/04/2012 19:04

It's not just about ESA/DLA.
Stats listed here are for other benefits too.
Thing is DLA/ESA/Carers ARE affected by this like it or not.
People on those benefits are getting hit worse than many others on benefits.

LadyBeagleEyes · 09/04/2012 19:04

The difference being Sleeepy that Sue's banter is funny Grin.

catgirl1976 · 09/04/2012 19:04

fishing it out?

Is that anything like dishing? Or is it just more fishy?

Hands LadyBeagleEyes a new straw as her previous has been oversucked.

Anniegetyourgun · 09/04/2012 19:08

The estimated fraud rate for DLA is much lower than 2 - 3% isn't it? 0.8% I read the other day?

Anniegetyourgun · 09/04/2012 19:10

OK, I probably shouldn't encourage the bee-hater but "oversucked" is a marvellous word.

thekidsrule · 09/04/2012 19:10

Glitter i get what your saying but shouldnt we stick to the example of op and them circumstances

there has been many threads on DLA/ESA where those affected can explain the changes, discuss etc i dont see why it has to come into every thread on benefits unless stated

not that there has been much debate on this one but as many threads it just diverts from the actual ops topic

mind you these threads nearly all turn out the same,i have had good debates and learnt things from the other boards especially for the given topic, peeps seem a bit more civil sometimes

Glitterknickaz · 09/04/2012 19:11

I thought it was 0.5% allowing for DWP error AND fraud.
