School Runway- To think that Easy Living mag have alientated their readers with this junk

This is not a joke. Each month they visit a school and detail some of the Mums outfits. I mean I am living in the centre of Paris and am not encountering this ridiculousness

I'm going to share an anecdote with you:

Years ago a friend and I were snapped for one of those "What the Folks Are Wearing These Days" things.
The format was that they'd then ask you a ffew questions. The question they asked us was "What do you think of our magazine?"

I gave a bland sort of answer but my friend said: "You're a pile of overpriced shit that knows fuck all about nothing."

They didn't print our pix. [busad] [bugrin]

Actually, I think they've totally missed a trick there. they could have caused an internet furore, an internet tsuanmi, as well as a whole load of snurking, if they had gone for "School-run fitties" ... and maybe gone to a school a month and rated it out of ten for male eye-candy.

It just doesn't come across as realistic in any way at all. I know it's a fashion mag (which I've subscribed to for the past few years) and these women are sporting high fashion/style, but it's not in the slightest bit representative of the school run in MY rural, Wiltshire world...

I enjoy looking at the garb but take it with a pinch of frustrated salt.

this is a total setup. Louise Galvin is pretty well known. Her PR agency set this up for sure.

And the photos were obviously taken in winter so what's with all the bare arms?

Have never heard of or read Easy Living. Have a 17 year old and a 13 year old at two very expensive schools. Have never particularly noticed what anyone is wearing and oddly amongst parents paying about £18k per child nobody seems to care much. I'm usually on my way to work. On my odd day off, I must confess I have pulled on a coat and boots over my nightie. Have only put the boots on in case I might have had to get out of the car

It's dire but hilarious.

1. I think a lot of the women featured wear the same style- so look naff next to each other.
   
2. It is a PR stunt and a lot have individual businesses to promote.
   
3. I'd bloody love them to come to my school- we'd have exercise gear, boot leg jeans, goretex, uniforms, tiny bit of boden, possibly a PJ or two- it would make far more interesting.

Having semi-lurked on school run threads over the years (I am already IN a school by then, swearing at a photocopier) this made me laugh out loud. But as much as its looks silly, there are still threads on MN where women appear genuinely concerned about what to wear, so I suppose there's a market.

By chance I saw several school runs in Melbourne a few days ago.

Black, grey. More black. And black.

Everyone has sunglasses, all year round. Not as twattish as it sounds because the moment the sun is out, it's dazzling so you always need them. More importantly it means you don't need eye make up on.

I think the ones that have been printed so far have been taken by EL not ones that have been sent in; I think they are on their website/facebook. I agree they are all waaaayyy too styled to be spontaneous shots. I think I prefer the new EL, but would not pay more than £2.50 for it.

The concept of "school run" makes me very twitchy. It's the implication that it's the highlight of the day/something to "dress up" for and that's a bit tragic and sad really.

Might as well have pics of "who looks good at Verbier this year" or "BA First Class Lounge lady pics". The women are wearing clothes which most of us can only dream of affording.
