AIBU?

To think Tesco Finest Ready Meals are Rubbish

I should have learned my lesson with these by now. But again at the weekend I bought another ready made meal from Tesco Finest range thinking - oh that looks nice. But it wasn't. Every single one I have ever had has that false ready meal taste that is horrible. I had to promise my DP to never buy Tesco Finest again and to stick to M & S ready made meals instead, which are far nicer, taste of the actual ingredients and are the same type of price.

So AIBU?

The tesco finest Spaghetti Bol is nice but only bought when on offer as it's normally £4. Shock (It's £2 ATM!)

Had M+S £10 Chinese takeaway for 2 last week- two mains, two sides and bottle of beer. A lot for the money compared to a normal takeaway and it was lovely :)

Stick to M&S. And, it's a Dine in 2 for £10 weekend, this weekend!

I really like the tesco low fat meals. Always take them to work.

Spicy beef pasta and tandoori chicken are the best.

I agree that Tesco's chicken, prawn and chorizo paella is lovely. Also, their scallop filo tartlets, salmon en croute and guyere cheese and leek filo parcels. Dessert wise-salted caramel pudding is lush.

That's about all that's decent, though.

All ready meals are disgusting and most make me vom. I think I must be allergic to some kind of preservative or something.

Don't like Tesco ready meals finest or not, only M&S do decent ready meals imho. Prefer them to Waitrose.

Tesco has relaunched its Finest brand last year, and I was recently invited to try some of its ready meals (for free) via the Tesco Orchard programme.

On the menu: Tesco Finest Moroccan Spiced Lamb Meatballs, served with Tesco Mediterranean Roasting Vegetables.

The meatballs themselves were lean and had the chunky texture of homemade meatballs, rather than the over processed mushiness of some competitors' products. I was pleased to discover that Tesco is using British lamb to make these meatballs, although I would have preferred this information to have been more prominent on the packaging given that the source of meat is something I take into account when choosing which products to buy. It was, however, the sauce that really earned this dish its Finest label: fragrant spices that gave the dish its quintessentially Moroccan flavour without being overpowering, complimented by apricots that added a delicate sweetness, and whole chickpeas which livened up the texture and really made this a hearty winter warmer.

Yanbu, they look very unappealing in the first place.

Can't speak for all of them, but the ones I've tasted are not good at all.

I had a very nice Tesco Finest curry the other day actually.

I was expecting a microwave curry, and that's what I got - a microwave curry. It had tasty sauce, a decent amount of chicken, the right amount of rice.

I had reasonable expectations, and my expectations were met.

I agree with PP about the finest paella - lovely for a ready meal. They also do a 'serves two' chicken, chorizo and potato thing which is tasty. Quite often buy that for DH and me with some garlic bread serves two my arse!

The spaghetti Bolognese is weird and they do that annoying thing of putting Parmesan on it.

M & S ready meals here, if I buy them. Love their family sized lasagne. It can easily feed all five of us, with some garlic bread to go with it.

Not keen on Tesco for that sort of thing.

May I please ask on this forum why? I had put a vegetable mix in my top oven (it wasn't worth spending the money on fuel by using the main oven). When doing this, I usually wait until it's finished before grilling (in the same oven) a salmon steak. Last night, I thought Oooh I'll use the microwave for the salmon. After 40 seconds, it exploded. I had, luckily bought one of those Aldi covers so the explosion did not involve a huge clean up of the microwave.

For how long should I microwave a salmon steak, please?
