does it matter?

it's a phone Confused

ilovesooty · 25/03/2012 21:19

Whoever said that is talking a load of bollocks. But presumably you knew that.

MyLittleMiracle · 25/03/2012 21:19

Glad i am not the only one, so i wasnt being unreasonable, and oh god the new series. I think we should reclass them as GIRL toys. NO MEN ALLOWED! I should also add he was trying to get me to sell it to him for pittance!

Oh...and if you already have a functioning phone wouldn't it be a good idea to put that money by for emergencies?

MyLittleMiracle · 25/03/2012 21:21

I just saw the new series and thought why are they men's phones, what just cos they are high tech! OH YES SO AM I!

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 25/03/2012 21:23

well, the only people i know who own an HTC are women, and most blackberry owners I know are men

it doesn't mean anything. it's a fucking phone. there is NO gender divide.

why am i even replying to this?

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 25/03/2012 21:23

Are you actually kidding? After all you've posted in the last few months about being homeless and not having a penny to your name? Really???

MyLittleMiracle · 25/03/2012 21:24

I dont have a fully functioning phone or i would have put the money to the side for emergencies, in fact i have about 500, so not going to spend it all, BUT 200 is my upper upper upper limit! I have my head screwed on, and i should also say i will have no home phone, so this will be my LIFELINE in an emergency!

oh really... there is a back story??

you can get a cheapy mobile for your lifeline surely? it doesn't have to be a £200 phone.

MediumOrchid · 25/03/2012 21:27

This really winds me up - I had someone from a call centre when I was renewing my contract tell me that, when they didn't have the phone I wanted in stock, that women liked this other (inferior) one because it was small and pretty. Grr!

Roseformeplease · 25/03/2012 21:27

Just bought my husband a new phone for £15 which does all the things a phone is supposed to do. Are you mad? £200 on a phone out of £500 savings.

thisisyesterday · 25/03/2012 21:27

here you go £25

ilovesooty · 25/03/2012 21:27

Why do you need a £200 phone as a lifeline in an emergency?

MyLittleMiracle · 25/03/2012 21:28

I was homeless, and was putting money to the side for furniture etc, i am fortunate i found somewhere FULLY furnished as in needs nothing that i dont already now have, HENCE I HAVE MONEY LEFT OVER and have sold my wedding rings, no need for them! Any one have issues with that? I was lucky, I SAY THIS AGAIN I WAS LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So yes, i have some money now, and i deserve it, I said goodbye to my engagement ring and wedding ring in desperation to find somewhere to live. But i did it right, and didnt need to, i am now happy, and yes i want a nice phone, but i dont want to spend mega money on it. I do need one though even if its only like 20pounds or something!

No one has disputed your need for a phone.

I personally can't understand anyone wanting to spend £200 unless money is no object.

thisisyesterday · 25/03/2012 21:31

you'd usrely be better off getting it on a contract?
i get unlimited texts and minutes with my deal and it's £20 a month I think... so not that much more than buying the phone up front and then having to top up with credit all the time

MediumOrchid · 25/03/2012 21:32

I missed the backstory - OP, if you're having financial problems, just get a cheap pay as you go phone for now - there'll always be nice phones out there and they're only going to get better! Wait until you're in a position to afford it - and remember, you really need a data plan with smart phones which means a monthly commitment.

MyLittleMiracle · 25/03/2012 21:32

I dont desperately NEED one, just really really want one! There is nothing wrong with that, i will probably end up with a three own make or something, but at least let me dream, fantasise etc!

I was homeless and had no rent in advance/deposit or furniture, i found via gumtree a chap who is moving in with his partner and who wants someone to pay the mortgage really, and he is leaving everything, apart from a few bits, but all the major furniture, so the money i have been saving away etc, and seeling my wedding rings means i now have money i have never had before! I already have a sim on contract (shock horror to you all, its 10pounds a month though so not mega money, and i felt was desperately needed with all what was going on and mum was paying it until i got this place)

I am now getting sorted!

I want to get a new phone - should I wait for the iphone 5 to come out? I thought the HTC phones were for people who couldn't afford iphones.
