....and from the age of 50.

Other public sectar workers get nothing remotely resembling that.

OK, for the pedantic

GPs in Private Practice

You have to cover every pedant here!

Confused if they are in private practice then they are not government funded, they are private. As far as I'm concerned they don't come into the equation since they are private.

TapirBackRider it's sad isn't it? My FIL reads the Daily Fail and thinks that if they print it then it is fact. Confused

TapirBackRider · 26/03/2012 14:47

DeepPurple Yes, very sad, along with a total refusal to listen to any other information, because the Fail is the font of all wisdom... Hmm

badgeroncaffeine · 26/03/2012 14:51

You know what I meant..not strictly private practice, but opted out in some way of the mainstream.

The "Daily Fail" illustrates the point well.

Doctors' Pay

We can definitely group the police and Doctors together when it comes to well over the top pay!

DeepPurple · 26/03/2012 14:53

Oh yes. Last year FIL was banging on about how Mohammed was the most popular baby name for the previous year. I pointed out that it was actually Oliver not Mohammed. He told me I had my facts wrong because it was in the Daily Fail. I showed him the Office of National Statistics website. I was still wrong apparently Hmm

DeepPurple · 26/03/2012 14:53

Thanks for proving mine and Tapir's point Badger Grin

TapirBackRider · 26/03/2012 14:54

Bingo!!

Police, pensions, nurses, Daily Fail, posters immune to rational arguments... I won Grin

badgeroncaffeine · 26/03/2012 14:57

It's not made up in the Mail/Fail...you'll find it's in other papers about police and Doctors' pay & pensions too. It's a regular news story for obvious reasons! Grin

Badger - you haven't answered my questions. What are your source materials regarding everything you've written about police pensions? What are your statistics regarding the employment of certain groups within the police?

It is remarkable that you have compared police pay and conditions to premiership footballers AND doctors in private practice in the space of a few pages.

Your posts have been rather lacking in facts pertinent to the original discussion.

TapirBackRider · 26/03/2012 15:04

It's a regular story because they love to print half truths.

hth

DeepPurple · 26/03/2012 15:07

Doctors would include brain surgeons and heart doctors yes? Maybe we should open these jobs to the mass of unemployed people who'll be happy to work for half the amount?

The Daily Fail do not print the truth. Anyone that thinks they do are fuckwits simple.

jellybeans · 26/03/2012 15:07

YABVVVU. The police deserve every penny of their pension and many of them won't get as good pension as in the past due to changes. I have friends/relatives who retired at 50 and got a lump sum and I am glad they did so as they worked extremely hard and were stuck in the miners riots and many other dangerous situations aswell as havign a job of extreme stress and missing out on many nomal family things due to the hours etc. WHY are people so mean and selfish these days that they are jealous of what others have got? Your life is an awful lot easier than most people in the world that is for sure! be grateful for what you have and be happy that others have what they have, it really isn't that hard.

BarryNormansSofa Oh dear..I didn't say that police and Drs' pay are anything like the same. I said, "We can definitely group the police and Doctors together when it comes to well over the top pay!". Please read posts properly in future.

Yes, that's about as intelligent a response as I could have expected really! Grin

Hecubasdaughter · 26/03/2012 15:53

Both the police and doctors need training and take a lot of responsibility in their career. We turn to both in bad times, I think they work for their pay.

OP YABVU and also making yourself look ridiculous. Please read up on this subject because you really do seem to be void of all the facts here.

And no I'm not in the police either- thanks though to Plomino for their post and their work.

McHappyPants2012 · 26/03/2012 16:14

I don't care about other people's pension. I couldn't do a police job no matter how good the pension is.

whencanigohome · 26/03/2012 16:20

Badger - if you wish to 'win' a fact based discussion at some point you are going to have to provide us with the facts that demonstrate the unreasonableness of police pay and conditions.

If you wish to 'win' an opinion led discussion by arguing that the work of police officers is without much value or worth you will need to present some coherent justification
