....and from the age of 50.

Other public sectar workers get nothing remotely resembling that.

OP posts:
agnesf · 25/03/2012 23:30

Oh and have just spotted that Taken's 6% pension is £5k which means she earns £83k. Surely that's not the case.

Codandchops · 25/03/2012 23:31

And why would we want to pay anyone "half the price" for such a thankless job as the police have.

ThatVikRinA22 · 25/03/2012 23:32

your points are wrong. flawed. a work of pure fiction. you asked for a counter argument and i explained where you could find one. and now im going to ignore you, because there are plenty of counter arguments if you only bothered to read them. which you wont.

now back to the important stuff. like home bargains. i like a good bargain, not had a mooch around home bargains in aaages....might attempt a trip out on my days off.

DeepPurple · 25/03/2012 23:32

2.5 million on the dole, many would do the job for half the price. Then why don't they apply? Hmm

I agree. premiership footballers do have ridiculous wages. I wonder what their pensions and contributions are?

badgeroncaffeine · 25/03/2012 23:33

Codandchops You might as well say that anyone voicing an opinion on anything has an "empty life". Is your life really that empty that you have to type out such a post in response? Clearly so...

NurseJennyLee · 25/03/2012 23:33
Grin Of course in more upmarket areas it is called Quality Save. You can buy online now too.

Oh yes badger I'm sure people would be clamouring to receive the abuse and crap our police officers put up with on a daily basis. Absolutely, you are right. Hmm

Codandchops · 25/03/2012 23:34

Premiership footballers don't lay their lives on the line in the way the police do.

scurryfunge · 25/03/2012 23:34

Days off Vicar? - you are lucky!

badgeroncaffeine · 25/03/2012 23:34

DeepPurple Why don't they apply? Let's just say with the massive wages and pensions, there are very few vacancies and each one has dozens or hundreds of applicants...simple really.

Codandchops · 25/03/2012 23:34

I just wonder why you are so bitter....

badgeroncaffeine · 25/03/2012 23:37

I could write it out in full VicarInaTutu, but I don't need to do I? Grin

A retired PC gets about 20k a year for life, potentially from late 40s on!

More than many (equally qualified) working people get...

Codandchops · 25/03/2012 23:37

Badger I am serious, my life is too full to stress about someone having something I might not. So what?

As I said further up the thread I am sure PC Rathband would have enjoyed his pension had he lived. Likewise PC Olds and a the others who have been killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.

Why would you want to pay them "half the price"?

Plomino · 25/03/2012 23:37

Its absurd, I agree . How dare we take a pension of 19k a year for 30 years of putting ourselves on offer . For everyone . Including people like you, who, I suspect are straight on the phone demanding we assist you immediately for every call , no matter how minor .

Tell me, have you ever uttered the phrase ' I pay your wages' ?

And can I point out that in most counties, there are more retired people in total, than there are working . The population is ageing as a whole, so there will be more retired nurses, doctors, teachers , shop workers , bankers , delivery drivers , than there will be working ones at any given point . So why use that as a stick to beat police officers with ? When you get some toe rag in your house, do you want a fit and healthy officer to turn up , or a 60 year old one , whose knees are shot because of 30 plus years rolling around on the floor with violent suspects ?

badgeroncaffeine · 25/03/2012 23:39

Codandchops..you just have to be in the police or closely related to someone who is.

ThatVikRinA22 · 25/03/2012 23:39

i have learnt, in my job, that there really is no reasoning with the unreasonable.

almost as much as there is no reasoning with someone if they are totally and utterly pissed.

im now trying to decide, on balance, who i prefer to deal with. i reckon, pissed people are easier to deal with....and in the morning they are often ok. in badgers case, in the morning, he/she will still be an arse. here. have a Biscuit

quality save? not seen those...got a home bargains next town along but i always end up picking up stuff that i think is a bargain and then realise i dont actually need....thus making it not a bargain.

Codandchops · 25/03/2012 23:41

No I am a nurse and last time I checked had no police relatives or friends. Hope that clears things up.

I just don't waste time moaning about these issues - that is just what this Govt wants.

whencanigohome · 25/03/2012 23:41

Badger - are you honestly talking about the British police? Really? The average constable is on an income and pension comparable to Wayne Rooney? Are you absolutely certain?

ThatVikRinA22 · 25/03/2012 23:44

i have a theory that badger is Dave in disguise...is samcam on mumsnet?

badgeroncaffeine · 25/03/2012 23:44

whencanigohome Oh dear...discussions here always go this way when people start losing the argument...

...they twist and contort what you've said as they can't argue the facts.

Read again:

Only premiership footballers have such ridiculous wages. That does not mean in pure monetary terms, but in relation to what they should be paid.

Plomino · 25/03/2012 23:45

vicar you're right .

I spend my working days reasoning with the Unreasonable . I'm not doing it on my day off .

Be careful out there . And to all our public sector colleagues too, who do their best in the face of fuckwittery . No matter how much pension they have .

badgeroncaffeine · 25/03/2012 23:45

VicarInaTutu You're ignoring me, remember. You did mean 6 posts up, not 5 didn't you? Yes, I thought so...

Codandchops · 25/03/2012 23:46

What would YOU suggest should be their wage Badger (curious)?

Codandchops · 25/03/2012 23:47

You are also a tad aggressive.....are you the OP in disguise?

whencanigohome · 25/03/2012 23:48

Badger - so what financial remuneration do you think would be fair for the police officers who were savaged by a dog in east London last week?

badgeroncaffeine · 25/03/2012 23:49

No simple answer Codandchops, but a PC outside London, 15-20k. Pension paid when everyone else gets it, ie at 67 or around then.
