Think that eating pineapple will make up for the entire packet of kinder chocolate?

lostboysfallin · 20/03/2012 21:25

why do I buy these things?
I have eaten DS's easter chocolates 4 times over, so bought some little kinder chocolate for myself

Why have I eaten the whole packet?

Can't you keep your son's Easter things somewhere else until Easter?

NettoSuperstar · 20/03/2012 21:31

Why don't you just buy what you want to really eat?
I can't be doing with food for someone else.

HappyCamel · 20/03/2012 21:35

It's still Lent, why have you bought Easter chocolates already? Maybe you could try giving up chocolate for 40 days, it might not seem so appealing afterwards. Pineapple is full of sugar and won't help at all. Eat more veg and less fruit to reduce your sweet tooth.

Pagwatch · 20/03/2012 21:36

Pineapple is also mostly sugar/carb too. So don't eat that.

I buy my dc treats when we are out of the house and they then have them in their hand iyswim - so they are not sitting in a cupboard looking at me

lostboysfallin · 20/03/2012 21:39

I did, I wanted the kinder bars, I like them.
I'm just useless if I have chocolate in the house. I can't stop myself from eating it all

I never buy it, and just had some little choc eggs that I would eat a handful, but then had to replace.

Happycamel, are you not allowed to buy chocolate if you have given it up for Lent? I'm not religious.

I dont really have a sweet tooth, like I said I don't usually buy it.

YANBU, its a well known fact that the acid in pineapple means you spend more calories digesting it than are in it, so if you eat about 2,000,000,000 pineapples it should balance out Grin
hth!

Pagwatch · 20/03/2012 21:53

Ok. I don't understand a bit...I think...

Your op was all 'why do I do this. Why do I buy this stuff'

And now you say 'i never buy this stuff. It was just a small amount'

Is it a non problem really. Or am I being dense ? Confused

WorraLiberty · 20/03/2012 21:54

If you've eaten them 4 times over, perhaps you should leave replacing them until nearer Easter Sunday, or asking someone else to mind them for him?

PacificDogwood · 20/03/2012 21:56

YANBU.

Eating lots of chocolate followed by lots of fruit is called 'Off-setting' Grin (my mortgage works like that too): if you eat lots of fruit and veg you are allowed a lot of chocolate and other crap treats.

And all you other non-chocolate eaters, be that for religious or other reasons: you just don't understaaaaand

Pagwatch · 20/03/2012 21:57

I love chocolate. My off set is the fucking gym.

PacificDogwood · 20/03/2012 21:59

Ah, yes, exercise can work too, I've heard. But it sounds too much like hard work.

rhonda, I did NOT know that about pineapple Shock

rhondajean · 20/03/2012 22:03

I didnt make it up!

negative-calorie-foods-diet.blogspot.co.uk/2008/06/pineapple-great-negative-calorie-food.html

I think celery is the same.

malinois · 20/03/2012 22:05

Isn't pineapple basically just sugar, water, a bit of fibre, and more sugar?

I always wonder whether you could sell sugar cane as a healthy snack to people... - but it's FRUUUIIIITTTT so it must be good for you!!!

I like the odd bit of fruit but it's best eaten in moderation, just like anything else full of sugar.

MadameChinLegs · 20/03/2012 22:05

I can't NOT finish a packet of either Cadbury Chocolate Fingers or Malteasers. So....I buy them once in a blue moon knowing that I will eat them all in one sitting. This stops the guilt.

PacificDogwood · 20/03/2012 22:09

I give you negative calorie foods Grin

I can just feel my whole life changing.
Hahahahahaha!!

MadameChinLegs · 20/03/2012 22:12

nevermind. The thought was there.

malinois · 20/03/2012 22:16

PacificDogwood - it's a lovely thought, but utter bollocks I'm afraid. I suspect the only thing that you can eat that will use more calories to digest than you can release from it would be a lump of coal :)

rhondajean · 20/03/2012 22:19

Ive just remembered I have three Easter eggs in the cupboard, and major pms. Dammit.

PacificDogwood · 20/03/2012 22:31

I am safe as all our horded Easter Eggs are Cadbury's and Cadbury's chocolate is Evil and Poisonous (I am a Galaxy girl).

malinois, I know it's bollocks, that's why I was laughing Grin. Presumably raw broccoli will have more negative calories than cooked because you have to put more effort into chewing?!

hmc · 20/03/2012 22:42

Pineapple is fine (had to wade in as people dissing it) - I eat a load of fruit, pineapple, grapes and bananas being my fave, and fresh from a BUPA health assessment I cam tell you that my internal body fat is 21.2% (actually slightly lower than the 22-28% ideal range).....[decides not to boast about vo2 fitness score, lung 'age' etc ]

lostboysfallin · 20/03/2012 22:51

I bought DS some little eggs, I keep replacing them and eating them again.
So to keep me from eating his chocolate I bought some kinder chocolate for myself, and instead of eating a little bit, I have eaten it all in one day.
I just can't have chocolate in the house
Fortunately it's only because Easter is coming that I have it in

So I should just buy Easter chocolate the day before, but I panic that there will be none left.

Pacificdogwood, offsetting, yes that's it exactly!

Fresh pineapple gives me such horrendous mouth ulcers I wouldn't be able to eat anything for days Sad.

How long till the end of Lent? Shrove Tuesday was 4 weeks ago. Not had chocolate. Have 2 boxes of Creme Eggs in the pantry.
Calling to me

qazxc · 21/03/2012 04:03

Feel better in the knowledge that by eating the chocolate you have saved dc from cavities, a bit like throwing yourself in front of a bullet. Also pineapple is great (loads of fibre).

Starwisher · 21/03/2012 04:06

Lol Op! Your as bad as me!

But come off it op, you do have a sweet tooth!
