Where is the fucking justice for Trayvon Martin? a 17 year old INNOCENT CHILD shot to death simply because he was walking in his father's gated community.

chewchewmeaw · 17/03/2012 19:10

Why in gods hell has that MURDERER not been arrested?

Are they looking for riots? they will happen if Zimmerman is not brought to justice. I am so sickened by this.

I wouldn't be surprised if you haven't heard this story yet - very slow in reporting it.

He was begging for his life': Family's anger as police finally play 911 calls made by neighborhood watch captain who shot black teen

Trayvon Martin,17, was shot dead by George Zimmerman, 28, last month, who claims the killing was self defense and has not been charged
Police finally gave into mounting pressure on Friday and released eight 911 calls
The teen's family say the calls show Zimmerman was the 'aggressor' not Trayvon

The police have finally released the 911 calls made in relation to the killing of an unarmed black teenager who was shot by a white neighborhood watch captain.

George Zimmerman, 28, had called 911 to report a suspicious man and can be heard pursuing Trayvon Martin, 17, on foot against the dispatcher's advice causing the teen to run away.
Moments later the police are bombarded with calls from terrified neighbors as a voice in the background can be heard desperately screaming for help before the sound of two gun shots.
When police arrived at Florida's Retreat at Twin Lakes Townhomes they found Trayvon, who had been returning from a store with candy for his younger brother, had been shot dead by Zimmerman.

Trayvon Martin, 17, left, was killed by George Zimmerman, 28, right, after the neighborhood watch captain pursued him as walked in a gated community

Zimmerman had called 911 after spotting the teen walking through the gated community.
'This guy looks like he is up to no good. He is on drugs or something,' Zimmerman told the dispatcher from his SUV.
He added that the black teen had his hand in his waistband and was walking around looking at homes.

'These a---. They always get away,' Zimmerman said on a 911 call.
During Zimmerman's initial call, he told the dispatcher he was following Martin and the dispatcher told him, 'You don't need to do that.'
But Zimmerman sounds as if he continues to pursue the teen saying: 'He ran.'

In Zimmerman's 911 call he said Martin, pictured, looked like he 'up to no good' and on drugs as the teen returned home with skittles for his brother
He then refuses to meet police officers at an agreed location and asks for them to call him on arrival instead so he can tell them where he is.
Sanford police officials, who have not charged Zimmerman after accepting his claim that his actions were in self defense, finally released eight 911 calls on Friday after mounting pressure.
Martin's family had demanded the release of the calls to help better understand how Martin died while walking home from a convenience store last month.
'He was yelling for help, and no one could help him. He saw his life being taken away from him,' the teen's father Tracy Martin said.
He said they will continue pushing for charges to be filed against Zimmerman.
'We?re hoping this doesn?t happen again to another family, and that America opens their eyes ... even though this won?t bring Trayvon back,
we don?t want there to be another Trayvon,' Mr Martin said.

The teenager's parents; mother Sabrina Fulton, right, and father Tracy Martin, left, are said to be devastated after hearing the 911 calls of their son's last moments

Benjamin Crump, the attorney for Martin's family, said that the 911 calls show that the teenager spent the last few moments of his life terrified and Zimmerman should be charged
After listening to recordings of 911 calls, Martin's family said they're more convinced than ever that the Zimmerman should be charged with a crime.
'You hear a shot, a clear shot, then you hear a 17-year-old boy begging for his life,' said Natalie Jackson, the family attorney. 'Then you hear a second shot.'
The case has been turned over to the State Attorney's Office which can decide whether to file charges or present evidence to a grand jury.
Attorney Benjamin Crump, who is also representing the family, told reporters outside Sanford City Hall that Martin's parents both broke down and cried as they listened to the recordings.
'They are completely devastated, and they are in unbelievable grief,' Crump said. 'The last seconds of his life were in absolute fear.'

Martin was visiting his father and stepmother in Sanford where they live at The Retreat at Twin Lakes, pictured, when he popped out to buy snacks for his younger brother
He added that a third witness has come forward saying it was the boy who was crying for help.
Martin's parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, previously sued to have the recordings released. A hearing for the case had been scheduled for Monday.
Moments after Zimmerman's initial call, dispatchers were bombarded by seven 911 calls from frantic neighbors describing a fight between two men, screaming and then a gunshot.
'There is somebody screaming outside,' one female caller said, as an unknown male voice can be heard crying in the background. Then a shot is heard.
A male caller described a physical altercation between Martin and the shooter.
'I just heard a shot right behind my house,' The caller said. 'They're wrestling right behind my porch. The guy is yelling 'Help.' I'm not going outside.'

By the time police officers arrived, unarmed Trayvon, who had been carrying Skittles and soda, was dead on the ground from a single gunshot
Another woman said a man in a 'white top' was on top Trayvon.
Earlier on Friday, Martin's parents called on the FBI to take over the investigation, saying they no longer trusted the Sanford police department.
Sanford police Sgt. David Morgenstern said the department stands by its investigation but welcomes help from any outside agency. FBI agent David Couvertier said the agency has been in contact with Sanford police and is monitoring the case.
'We are committed to having somebody review this to see if we made a mistake,' said Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett. 'If we made missteps and there is something there, we will act accordingly'

Trayvon's family believe Zimmerman should be charged and brought to justice for shooting their young son
Several Sanford residents who spoke to The Associated Press said they think there would have been an arrest already if the shooter had been black and the deceased had been white.
They said blacks and whites in this city of 53,000 residents were pretty much in agreement that an injustice had been done with no one arrested, and that there was no racial divide in how the case is being perceived. The city is 57 percent white and 30 percent black.
Zimmerman's father delivered a letter to the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday, saying the way his son is being depicted in the media is cruel and misleading.
He also says his son has received death threats and moved out of his home. George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.

Sporks

I have asked a very rational question. I await a rational answer. That is all.

Mr zimmermans previous convictions cannot be used as evidence to his mindset on that night. No justice system in the world could operate like this on the grounds of fairness.

You believe he should be found guilty of second degree murder ? If so why ?

Boomba · 20/07/2013 14:55

YET sym you seem perfectly happy to believe, without any evidence, that Trayvon confronted Zimmerman first. You believe that Zimmerman acted in self-defence, but not that Trayvon acted in self-defence;

DESPITE the facts that Zimmerman (an adult) persued a 17 year old child, who tried to run away from him, AND Zimmerman had the gun and a history of violence. Whilst, Trayvon had a packet of skittles and no history of violence?

There is no evidence to support Zimmermans story, that Trayvon was smashing his head into the pavement. And no reason to think that Trayvon wasn't only acting in self-defence what ever his actions. Zimmerman was following him with a gun. He attampted to get away by running through a pedestrainsised area. Zimmerman continued to pursue him on foot, with a gun

Boomba · 20/07/2013 14:57

what relevance is his history of child molestation??? are you for real?

symfem · 20/07/2013 15:02

Yes I am for real. What relevance does an unproven child molestation accusation have to do with this case ?

Enlighten me ?

creighton · 20/07/2013 15:05

it proves that he is a criminal and has ongoing criminal tendencies

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:07

Zimmerman shot 17 year old Trayvon to death

The options are

  1. Zimmerman murdered Trayvon
  2. Zimmerman acted in self defence..and so Trayvon was guilty of what...attempted murder??

Zimmerman was following Trayvon with a gun...for no reason what so ever

You have got to be fucking determined, to believe that Trayvon was guilty and not Zimmermen, given the evidence

Viviennemary · 20/07/2013 15:08

This makes me totally furious every time I see it on TV. There has been no justice. The USA should hang their heads in shame.

symfem · 20/07/2013 15:12

Here is how a trial works

I need to be shown beyond reasonable doubt that Zimmerman assault traynor.

The prosecution has to prove this. They could not. The defence doesn't have to prove traynor attacked first. They merely have to find enough to dispute that zimmerman assaulted traynor.

Let's assume traynor was acting in self defense (remember there is no evidence of this), then if Zimmerman felt his life was under threat, he now resorts to self defence. None
Of this is relevant, because we don't have the facts to prove it either way.

The facts of the case lead us to a point, traynor and Zimmerman confronting each other. They end there. Anything else is conjecture, bias and prejudice, the very things people are railing against here, are what they want to use to get a conviction.

symfem · 20/07/2013 15:13

So being accused of a crime means you are a criminal and will do it again.

Better lock up the Birmingham 6 so.

symfem · 20/07/2013 15:16

Boomba

Zimmerman being found innocent doesn't mean trayvon is guilty. It means there wasn't enough evidence to convince a jury beyond reasonable doubt.

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:16

sym let me ask how you would feel if Trayvon was your child? What if he had goe to the local shop for some sweets and a 30 year old man had been following him? If your son had take a pedestrai route ad ru in attempt to get away from the man? But the man had continued the pursuit on foot and then shot and killed your son?

Would you think it reasonable that your son should have defended himself?

What if that man had a history of violence and child molestation? and he claimed that he had shot your child in self defence? and he also said that he had no regrets about any of the events that lead to the murder of your son

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:17

no, for Zimmermans defence of self-defence to stand; it is a given that Trayvon is guilty

FreudiansSlipper · 20/07/2013 15:18

question needs to be asked about why and who are these people that carry loaded guns

he did not live in an area that is ruled by gangs, he was not part of a gang himself (as far as we know) or involved in criminal activity and he was not going hunting

so why the fuck is he walking around carrying a loaded gun, he is doing it to have control over others there is no need for him to be carrying a gun, especially a loaded gun but he wanted to act as a law enforcer to have power over others and this is what happened sadly the laws allowed him to carry a gun, but not to murder anyone

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:19

I have no doubt that Zimmerman is guilty

LittleSporksBigSpork · 20/07/2013 15:22

The question has been answered, in this thread and the other threads on the subject. Repeatedly. I have already spent hours putting together lists of links with all the information and posted them in two threads, including this one. I am not going to spend the energy to go digging through them just for you. You're not that special. If you gave a shit rather than trying to rile people up, you would go look. It is not the job of others to educate you, put some effort into it yourself, we're not your google or personal researchers. And I don't give a shit whether you agree with us or not and I am not going to put forth more effort to win you over. Any cause would be better off without someone who refuses to do any effort and is antagonistic to people behind the veneer of debate. Yours is quite easy to see though, 2/10 for effort, for coming in on page 16 and thinking you can jump straight in.

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:23

fucking hell sym the whole thing is on a recording to the police!!! how much more evidence do you need??????

Like I said before...the only way you can think Zimmerman is not guilty is if you think that;

  1. he was right to suspect Trayvon was upoto no good, and
  2. you dont think Trayvon had a right to self-defence, but you think that Zimmerman did
symfem · 20/07/2013 15:33

BoOmba - the of you had a child argument is a worn out and frankly nonsensical point. If I had a child and I allowed this prejudice my decision as a jury member than I have no place on the jury. You base your decision on evidence not emotion

  • you may be 100% convinced, I'm not sure of what, but again that just proves you are a danger to the legal system if you ever sit on a jury
  • again the prosecution doesn't have to prove trayvon is guilty. They have to provide reasonable doubt to the jury, which they did.

Sporks- you are the one coming across ignorant here. I have read the transcripts of the proceedings, that is the only evidence the jury has. There isn't enough to convict for second degree murder on that evidence. You trying to denegrate me is coming very close to personal attack, if you had the strength in your conviction you wouldn't need to resort to dismissing me as a rabble rouser. So again the evidence provided to the jury was not sufficient to find him guilty.

symfem · 20/07/2013 15:37

Freud

The area may have been a gated community but it was in a
Bad area, and had witnessed a spate of recent robberies.

But you are right, gun ownership inevitably leads to sad cases like this, and that is where the anger should be focused primarily.

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:45

homour me then sym

what would you think of the case, and the outcome of the trial, if Trayvon was your son?

FreudiansSlipper · 20/07/2013 15:46

not everyone feels the need to carry a gun

my family and extended family live in la and other parts of california no one carries of even owns a gun

he wanted to enforce the law because it suited his nature and that is one of a bully the law allowed him to carry a gun but not to murder someone

i do understand that the fear of a criminal carrying a gun there is not the same as it is here but still only a few choose to carry loaded guns around with them criminals and those who feel the want to take the law into their own hands

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:48

its cognitive dissonance again...there is no doubt that Zimmerman murdered Trayvon

self defence is not valid, if you have pursued someone with a gun, they try to escape from you, you persist, they are not armed and you shoot them dead

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:50

The area may have been a gated community but it was in a
Bad area, and had witnessed a spate of recent robberies

irrelevant Trayvon was not a robber. He was a child

symfem · 20/07/2013 15:52

You are asking if my opinion would be biased and based on emotion if this happened to my son. The obvious answer is of course.

Do you want a legal system based on personal bias and emotion driven response.

Now I refer you back to my statement, on the EVIDENCE provided to the jury, the charge of second degree murder could not be proved.

Did he follow the kid. Yes
Did he shoot the kid. Yes

What happened in between that is unknown, and only Zimmerman knows this. It's the prosecutions job to disprove his story. Sadly for them, the forensics backed up zimmermans story

Boomba · 20/07/2013 15:52

whereas I think you and the jurors that did sit on the jury are a danger to the justice system

symfem · 20/07/2013 15:55

Boomba - again you have drawn a picture there. That's good for you, but you are crucially lacking something. That word again evidence.

He followed him- he shot him

It's the gap in between you struggle with. The prosecutions case was weaker than the defences. If so he has to walk

  • I mentioned the gated area in reply to why he was carrying a gun, it had nothing to do with trayvon
