and I'm not in RL!

the bully thread upset me, as I do hate it when everyone piles in, I really do

and It does happen alot

then i though...HANG ABOUT

I have been rude, I have sworn at people, and I barged into MN royalty threads and called them all "sad cxxts!, maybe not in those words exactly

who I am to comment on others, really?

so, long weekend away I think

I know its only words in a screen, but its left me feeling, well not too good aboujt myself TBH

its soo easy to barge in a post something blunt, maybe too easy

OP posts:
pictish · 16/03/2012 14:44

It ties in with being expected to know the posting history and personal background of every other poster you come across I think.

pictish · 16/03/2012 14:47

That rings a bell with me Everlong - what was that thread about again?

Good for you Porca.
I have to honest that I had noticed you being a bit fierce but I assumed you were just having bad mn moment.
I get like that. I start to feel like Mn is full of arses and stupid shit and then I wonder if I am getting my own fucked-offedness reflected back at me.

I think I may take a break soon. Just until it feels a bit more fun. I wonder if I am being more of an arse than usual. I would hate to think so.

Fair enough everlong.

Pctish - Although I largely agree, sometimes OP's will get a much harsher response if in the last 24 hours for example they have started 3 controversial threads and been pretty rude to other posters in their follow up posts. It is not surprising then that some posters may post things like ffs - you gain. And of course that will look rude in the extreme to others who don't know what that individual has been like in a very short space of time.

I am against carrying arguments to other threads, but there have been occasions where I have understood why an OP has had rude or nasty responses.

Oh I agree. I'm not disputing that. If it is relevent then it should be recounted.
But sometimes it isn't relevent, and is a bit of a sneaky manoeuvre to tip the argument back into their favour, and I think it's playing dirty.

Al0uise · 16/03/2012 14:53

BarbiGirl I totally agree.

I do too, but let's not kid ourselves that there is no emotional manipulation going on in some threads either.

MardyBra · 16/03/2012 15:06

Good on you porca. I know we've crossed swords in the past, but to be fair I think I was being unreasonable at the time. Because MN is straight-talking, it is hard not to tread the line between honesty and too much honesty.

I do always wonder about your user name and whether there is an expectation that you will be "miserable" in your posting style. I think that sometimes people have a preconception that I will be overly - er - mardy because of my name. How about a name change to porcaallegria for a while?

Pagwatch - noooooo to break please. You are the voice of reason on MN. My litmus test is always "what would Pagwatch say?"

Pagwatch · 16/03/2012 15:14

Grin I go with 'what would Margot do?'

BupcakesandCunting · 16/03/2012 15:19

" I wonder if I am being more of an arse than usual."

Yes you are.

YANBU.

Mostly, I'm fairly polite and easy-going on MN (whereas in RL I'm polite but uptight....) but a few threads have really got my hackles up this week.

OP - I've seen a few of your posts over the past week and I have thought Hmm a few times, but I don't think you've actually called anyone a cunt (have you???)...you seemed a bit abrasive, but as you say, maybe you're just taking this whole interwebnetthingummy a little bit too seriously.

We all do it sometimes....

I even told someone to f the f off (on the same thread the OP got cross with everyone for 'piling in') but that was because it was the 3rd thread I had seen by that OP on the same subject within 24 hours....so it was clearly being posted to create irritation. Embarrassingly, I rose to it...although I did come back and apologise. Swearing really isn't my thing :)

Have a nice relaxing RL weekend and I look forward to sharing some MN silliness with you in the future.

lesley33 · 16/03/2012 15:30

Yes Filly - don't google!

And I do wish people would challenge and report posters more. I have just done so on another thread I happened to go on and nobody else had challenged the poster at all, in spite of it being quite a few posts earlier.

Pagwatch · 16/03/2012 15:31

It's difficult though Buppy. I set the bar pretty high.

catgirl1976 · 16/03/2012 15:36

I don't like reporting posters lesley.

If someone has been a tit to me, I like it to stand as a memorial to their tittishness.

BupcakesandCunting · 16/03/2012 15:38

Well Pag, that thread you started the other day about when you kicked that old man who was collecting for the blind was a new low for you...

lesley33 · 16/03/2012 15:38

I'm happy with that policy if it is a post directed at me or someone else who is more than capable of reporting it. But when the MNer in question isn't on the thread we have no idea if they would be happy for it to be left up or not. And that why I reported it.

BupcakesandCunting · 16/03/2012 15:38
lesley33 · 16/03/2012 15:39

Yes but Bupcakes...you were pretty rude to Pag. You did deserve the multiple deletions you got Grin

Pagwatch · 16/03/2012 15:40

In fairness he ended up lower than I was.

Fillybuster · 16/03/2012 15:41
Grin
Pagwatch · 16/03/2012 15:41

I am close to being rude but can't quite get the wording right.
