Am I missing something?

OP posts:
Vaffanculo · 14/03/2012 22:59

Would you like to explain what you mean?

iceandsliceplease · 14/03/2012 22:59

I think I've missed something.

AnyFucker · 14/03/2012 23:00

eh ?

D0oinMeCleanin · 14/03/2012 23:00

I always miss the good stuff Sad

S'not fair. I've been here nearly all day [lazy day]

GrahamTribe · 14/03/2012 23:00

I must have missed it too.

Bohica · 14/03/2012 23:00

What?

MN can be about building online friendships, are mods not allowed to enjoy themselves whilst working then?

SaraSidle · 14/03/2012 23:00

Why can't mnhq be friendly?? Why wouldn't they be??

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/03/2012 23:00

so, you'd really hate it if say we had a nice chat here and then the next time I'm on a thread and spot you I say

"hey bogs me old hearty, how the devil are you?"

That would be unreasonable?

Confused Hmm

Honeydragon · 14/03/2012 23:01

I think they are lovely and friendly with everyone.

StealthPolarBear · 14/03/2012 23:01

I've never really seen this. Some are friendly, others are stern, but to all posters it seems, not just specific ones

GhastlyBespoke · 14/03/2012 23:01

Would you like to elabOrate?

Moodykat · 14/03/2012 23:01

Odd. Confused

RobinSparkles · 14/03/2012 23:02

Yep, you're missing something op (or I am). I've never seen any of MNHQ seem pally with any posters Confused.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/03/2012 23:02

Ah, right, misread! Whoops Blush

I like it when MNHQ are friendly - it's the Stockholm syndrome isn't it. They are my captors but I luffs them.

SwedishEdith · 14/03/2012 23:03

What do the mods actually do though? Do they just read lots of random threads, gently policing mn and passing on PMs?

Devora · 14/03/2012 23:03

I don't know what you're referring to, but I think unethical may be overstating the case. Unwise, maybe?

Mostly, though, I think: why do you care? I don't know if it's my age, but I can't get emotionally connected with the MN community like some posters seem to. I love this site, it's such a useful resource and I've got loads from it. I've also connected with some individual MNetters and moved that into RL friendships that mean a lot to me. I've been here for donkey's years. But it honestly has never bothered me that, under any of the names I've had, I've never been part of any in group, been a 'popular' MNetter etc. Because MN is, after all, just a kind of interactive magazine, isn't it? I enjoy it, but I don't need it to enjoy me.

IamtheZombie · 14/03/2012 23:03

Zombie seconds AnyFucker's post. But then Zombie usually agrees with her.

eh ?

McPhee · 14/03/2012 23:06

There's some very odd threads tonight

Have you all got your period Grin

lisad123 · 14/03/2012 23:06

I don't see how it can be. It's a chat forum not really a professional/client relationship Hmm

ToothbrushThief · 14/03/2012 23:07

It's me isn't it?

They are pally with me Grin

MNHQ-please pretend you recognise my user name and back me up on this

Yes.

Look up meaning of 'ethical'

ProcrastinateWildly · 14/03/2012 23:09

Unethical? They're not your gp, just people who run/work for an internet site, that you may choose to post on, or choose not to post on. Don't think ethics really comes into it.

boglach · 14/03/2012 23:09

people get upset, hurt even on mumsnet. Yes it is a great resource and support network in the main but there is an ethical question about protecting the vulnerable

I don't think moderators should be partial it can corrupt that process

OP posts:
SecretNutellaFix · 14/03/2012 23:09

are you sure it isn't the posters appearing to be pally with HQ, who then do their jobs and, you know, answer the questions and points put to them?
