To want a job on a sex chat line?

Ok I don't think I really do, I think I'd feel a bit grubby but I was speaking to a mum at school who was telling me this is what she does during the day and can make about £200 a week!

I have visions of Big Mo in Easties being Miss Whiplash whilst doing the ironing. I could well do with an extra £200 a week though - who couldn't?

Anyone done this?

There's an ad on gumtree at the moment looking for chat line staff. I did it in my college holidays many moons ago-best laugh i've had in a job!

I follow this blog and the lady did 3 entries on a guide to working on sex line, from money to whether the person can see your number. I was surprised to read you have to use a real picture on some

Taking the plunge soon into adult chat. How on earth do you sort out paying for tax on this type of work. Secondly is there any chance my employer could find out what I do? Sure it would warrant dismissal otherwise. Thoughts please asap from people who have or are doing this type of work currently. Thanks ??

I've done it on an off when contracting was scarce and i needed somethinhg to tide me over between contracts, usually 20hrs a week was £100. I couldnt do more personally as that was my limit for being patient with some very socially challenged men who were to be frank hard work and would probably be described as rather odd if you met them in real life.

Yes its hard not to laugh, there are some strange fetishes out there. Though some really interested me. My 'wedding dress guy' who put the wedding dress on paraded about then took it off and set it on fire (go figure) was a lovely man, we had really nice chats. A lot of them were lonely older guys who wanted a normal chat tho not the sexy character stuff. Ive me a lot of women who did it on the quiet to top up a low paid job. Don't see any shame in it.

Ruthiemummy67, You're supposed to declare it and fill in self employed tax forms if you earn over £2K a year . Oh an dont go for the Manchester based line that insists you do a Fri night til 6am. Deathly, and no calls after 3am. I switched to other line instead.

Katinkka · 23/02/2015 18:14

I've done it to pay off a hefty store card I ran up. It was ok at first but then it got pretty tedious tbh and a LOT of people want to talk scat and other horrid things. Personally, I made about £500 in about three weeks or so then quit. This was with adult work. Good luck.

Can anyone here recommend the best agency to sign up with? Or ones to avoid! Thanks x

I did it a lot years ago when DCs were younger. It supplemented other part-time income, worked with their school hours and suited me just fine. I needed to supplement my income as a single mother

I still do it now sometimes all these years later. Its a good way of saving up for a holiday, for instance. I don't intend to do a 9-5 ever again. This supplements my self-employment + the 16 hours p.w. work I do outside the home.

I got into it after reading an article in a women's magazine about it. Im not prudish at all and thought it would be easy money. It isn't...it can get to your mind talking smutty to mostly men all day, for instance....you feel burnt out. Then again on other days its fine. I just balance as necessary, I know when Im feeling up to it and when Im not.

But, I won't lie - when you can sit on the settee in your oldest pyjamas, hair in a mess, barely move a muscle, MN'ing or watching tv whilst waiting for calls, or you can't sleep one night and think eff it, if Im going to be up for a couple of hours I may as well take some calls - and make good money then do the same tomorrow - it really does motivate you to continue.

No, it isn't brilliant money but if you put in the time its a good earner + you don't have travel costs to think about

I didnt think about it too deeply, and I had short-term goals with it..ie, ok earn this today, that'll pay for haircut & treatment. Earn this tomorrow, thats the DCs school lunches covered, earn this amount per week during the 6 week summer hols so the DCs assault on your pockets won't feel so painful...!

I still don't quite believe it when I hear of women who do this full-time. I simply don't think you can, unless you are single no other responsibilities..you'd have to be near your 'phone all day, up for talking all day thinking up varied scenarios etc . My brain would sizzle.

But yeah, I could do 10 hours weekly, on a week I wasn't so much feeling to hear all the "phone talk". & on another week when I knew I needed more money to get stuff done could very easily do 30 hours..especially "graveyard shifts" when you earn more...you're working from home structuring your own hour so you work when everyone's in bed if you like

I know it wouldn't be for everybody and quite understand that. But it suits me 100%...its guys on the end of the phone (a few women call too) I cant see them, don't know them so I don't feel that involved. & itsnot always sex talk either
