To want a job on a sex chat line?

Ok I don't think I really do, I think I'd feel a bit grubby but I was speaking to a mum at school who was telling me this is what she does during the day and can make about £200 a week!

I have visions of Big Mo in Easties being Miss Whiplash whilst doing the ironing. I could well do with an extra £200 a week though - who couldn't?

Anyone done this?

I did it for a while but I was sacked because I was shit I just couldnt stop laughing to be honest I was just not cut out for it

There are plenty of companies out there that you can work for.

its a job and needs the same professionalism to continue

if someone calls, you tell them to call back at a more convenient time

if you hang up, you get warned and rightly fired if it continues

if you dont show for shifts, laugh at the customers (imagine that happening at Boden Customer Service) or act like a wally wanting to earn money for no effort, you wont last long.

it is hard, it can be mind numbing, it has its cons, it also has its pros.

anyone going into it for a giggle is going to last seconds. anyone going into it with the mindframe you would have for any job ie, to do it to the best of your skills and earn a wage for your efforts, then id recommend it

posted above my experience, but i think it also depends on you, if you are not a very good or confident talker, the earning is hit a lot

the highest earners are the most open minded, within reason of course, and can fill those awkward gaps

Actually I took it all very seriously. I would no more laugh at a customer than I would if I worked in any other service industry.

Yes, you're paid by the minute and even though you're logged on, you only get paid when you're actually talking to a customer... but equally, UNTIL the phone rings you can do whatever you like. If you've got a "proper" job, you can't just decide to watch a recording of Eastenders or put your washing out to dry, can you?

there are several very good ones about: ringforsex.com, chatrecruit, livelines

there are plenty out there but be careful, only those 3 i know of are 100% kosher and have been running well before I began, there are plenty out there but the last thing you want to do is get caught out

oh and the bed routine with OH is no where near talking on the phone to a client, any more than you work at a shop and say thank you have a nice day and then go home, take something from his hand, and say the same thing

soooo many wrong assumptions!

Do you have to have set hours every week? Can you do it without a landline?

I have to say, I'm quite interested as well. I'm not taking the mick, I think I could be professional about it. I'm not particularly extroverted, but there's no one listening apart from the caller and maybe the chatline? And even if I'm only earning £20 a week, that's £20 more than I have a hope of getting anywhere else at the moment. At the very least, I can use it as an emergency fund.

I worked in a sex chatline office ten years ago.
it was a real laugh to start off with and i met a great bunch of girls who i am still friends with.
some of the callers were high on drink or drugs.
I did two girl calls (just want to say that we girls were NOT doing things to each other,we just pretended we were.)
i had to pretend to be a transexual as well.
I did dominatrix calls which i didnt mind at all.
But i absolutely hated the Adult Baby calls.
I particularly remember the guy who was high and liked shoving lighted candles up his arse.
Considering that the screaming sounded like something out of the Excorsist he might not have been faking it either.And he cried afterwards.
I had no choice but to take this job as at the time i only had the choice of this or workfare. (the provider (Reed,Pelcombe wanted me to work at a soup factory for 3 months for my JSA) i would do a sex chatline job again if i needed to. Im not ashamed of what i did. Its nothing like prostitution. the guy cant see or touch you.

You do need a land line yes. with regards to the hours, they will ask you to put in a minimum of a certain amount, but you can log in and out as you please. the company I did asked you to commit to one night shift per week also.
