AIBU to think that Florence (of And The Machine fame) must have some incriminating photos of someone at the BBC?

Seriously, the level of over-promotion is just absurd - endless trailers for her, heavy duty playlisting of every single bloody song off every album . And her songs make my ears hurt.

Why the totally OTT favoritism ?

(Disclaimer - I would not really accuse Florence of blackmail. But I'm buggered if I can figure out why she is on my radio all the time.)

I know what you mean. I like their music, but the level of coverage they get does seem ott.

I think they are just desperately hoping that someone they perceive as "cool" "edgy" and "a bit weird", takes some of the shine from all the shiny boy bands and Justin Bieber types out there.

They fail to realise that you can't make someone "cool".

The fact that she claims to have been born in August 1986 (making her 25 yo), takes away some of the little credibility she has. More like 1976!

If she wasn't 6 ft 2 and red head no one would have given her a second glance

Says a lot that her biggest succcess was a cover version of a song thats been recorded MANY times

As you can see, I'm not a fan

I'm interested in what's "amazing" about her as well. I wonder what the age is of people who do think that?

She just seems to be marketing man's idea - her dad is in advertising and her mum is a pre-Raphaelite expert, or something. Put the two together and, et voila!

I adore Florence and am going to see her soon. She is amazing live, and her performance at the Brits didn't need all the usual fluff olly murs as her voice is not massively edited for records.

However I have read that she is everything from 31 to 21 so I'm not inclined to believe any age that is printed.

I'd much prefer Florence to so the likes of Rhianna, even though I'm quite happy to listen to both of them.

She can actually sing. Unlike Rhianna who just seems to dance half naked here there and everywhere! We can't all like the same music. That would be boring Smile

And I'm 21 btw. But that doesn't mean anything.

Ah, well I think your age probably does matter LiamsMummy. When you're as old as me you've seen and heard it all before and she just seems derivative and unoriginal. And she opened up the xmas lights for Harrods or something - hardly edgy.

I remember reading on her that she just shouts in tune - good description Grin

And you can hate Florence and Rhianna

I loved when noel Fielding covered florence for lets dance for sport relief, id of been mortified if i was her though cos he was the spitting image of her (wish i knew how to attach a link to show you all).

P.s i dont mind a bit of florence but not too much, but neil diamond i can take all day long, money talks........ahh love that song
