To think that the Ocado website is crap?

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 13:43

I thought I'd give it a go today and do my online shop with Ocado.

Well, I've flounced back over to Sainsbury's because the Ocado website is SHIT. Not logical or anything. I don't know how anyone finds anything on there. Cup-a-Soups are next to beans are next to Cif bog cleaner.

Poor show, Ocado. Poor show.

Have you tried to check out? There's about 4/5 screens of offers you have to go through. Hmm

YouChangeWithTheWeather · 05/03/2012 13:46

You think it's shit? You haven't tried the Waitrose one lately Grin

It's pants compared to Ocado. And those of us who committed to getting John Lewis vouchers for 12 months, only weeks before Ocado announced they would not longer accept JLP vouchers, are now forced to use the damn thing Hmm

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 13:50

What?

Surely you just type what you want into the search box and it appears on the screen? Isn't that how you do it on any website?

The check out screens can be irritating though, I do agree with that.

AmandinePoulain · 05/03/2012 13:52

At least you have Ocado. Here is a choice between Tesco (who I'm boycotting because of workfare) or Sainsburys (who attach a mandatory 40p charge for carrier bags that I don't even want and have no option for bag less deliveries Angry

BlingLoving · 05/03/2012 13:53

all online shopping sites are shite in the beginning. You have to commit hours to setting one up. It's a dastardly plan to make sure you never shop elsewhere ever again!

But having said that, I will agree that Ocado makes browsing much harder than Tesco (the other store I use). You can't click on a handy link to see similar products or similarly placed products. Well, you can, but you won't be inspired.

Whatevertheweather · 05/03/2012 13:53

Do you browse the site then? I have my list of what I want type it in the search bar and bob's your uncle Smile I do it all on the iPhone app adding things throughout the week as they run out and you don't have the hideous checkout problem on the app. Love it.

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 13:54

I do browse rather than have a list so I might be my own worst enemy, actually.

Still, though. SHIT.

zebedeethezebra · 05/03/2012 13:56

Yes, its rubbish, and so is their packing! But Waitrose is 10 times worse. Haven't tried Tesco or Sainsburys as I like Waitrose food.

Icelollycraving · 05/03/2012 13:56

Yabu. I love ocado, one online shop with tesco & about £50 of mistakes I realised how much I love ocado. The drivers are so polite too.

Whatevertheweather · 05/03/2012 13:56

Browsing is the work of the devil and miraculously adds at least £30 to my bill no will power

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 13:56

You can't search shelves in ocado, because they don't have any.

Tesco allows you to search as if you were in the shop (so the same things come up online as being on the same shelf). Of course you can't go and buy your groceries in the mega-warehouse in Hatfield so this is not an option.

Surely, you just type in "chicken" (after first going to the appropriate section on the menu at the top, which tesco also has) and it narrows it down.

If you don't specificy the section (fresh veg, meat, bakery etc..) and type in "chicken" you'll get chicken oxo, chicken crips, etc... but this is also true of Tesco.

I fail to see what is so hard about this.

bibbityisaporker · 05/03/2012 13:57

With Ocado you can type in a whole list in the search box, rather than having to do one item at a time.

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 13:58

Christ, maybe I have low expectations but I've never had a problem.

I don't think it's any harder than Tesco, although again, the flash deals get a bit annoying.

EdithWeston · 05/03/2012 13:58

I have fallen in love with the Ocado app. I even coughed up to continue my delivery pass, because it's just so much the best way I've ever found to get through a shop.

Whatevertheweather · 05/03/2012 13:59

Their packing has got a bit ludicrous recently. Eggs on the bottom of the bag Hmm But as I got about £40 worth of free shopping last week for a burst packet of prawns I won't complain Grin Driver noticed it has split and refunded the entire contents of the bag no questions. I managed to re-package everything with no damage, genius.

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 14:00

I didn't say it was hard I said it was SHIT.

Any of the online sites are confusing when you use them the first couple of times ime - and I have used a few. They all work slightly differently, but once you are used to one it all makes sense and works fine.

I use Ocado these days but have used many in the past.
I find Waitrose, Tesco and Asda the worst.

Never noticed cup of soups and CIf cleaners together though!

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 14:03

But I don't get why bup.

How do you search for things with Sainsbury's then?

Do you not just type the item into the search box and up it pops?

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 14:05

It is true though, the first time you use one, it's a pain in the arse.

I find it quicker to just all my favourites, go to my trolley, remove the stuff I don't want and then add in any extras afterwards.

First time I did a shop, it did take a long time.

You don't even have to look for special deals, because when they check you out, they give you the swap option to get the best deal for the type of product you're looking for.

That I think is great, saves a lot of time.

BlingLoving · 05/03/2012 14:06

That delivery pass is the single biggest reason I stay with Ocado. If I am crap and lazy busy, I get to point where I land up with a delivery every few days. Delivery pass makes it worthwhile.

And actually, I love the Flash sales. I got loads of good meat on them in the last few weeks.

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 14:11

Yes loving the delivery pass.

Two shops a week every week for just a few pence each time.

They always seem to have great deals on nappies too, really cheap huggies and pampers when on special.

I haven't shopped at Tescos for years and am not likely to go back to them any time soon. They aren't even that much cheaper IMO.

I don't shop by searching for individual items. I do it by section i.e Sainsbury's lists things by section: Frozen (then frozen sub-sections) storecupboard (then sub-sections) drinks (then sub-sections) etc. Ocado is all over the joint, like it's been put together by a panda bear wearing boxing gloves.

I just went to Ocado and Ssainsbury's (you can tell I'm bored).

When I type in cup-a-soup, cup-a-soups came up. Ditto for Cif and beans.

Can't see the problem.

So OP, I declare YABU
