To think that the Ocado website is crap?

I thought I'd give it a go today and do my online shop with Ocado.

Well, I've flounced back over to Sainsbury's because the Ocado website is SHIT. Not logical or anything. I don't know how anyone finds anything on there. Cup-a-Soups are next to beans are next to Cif bog cleaner.

Poor show, Ocado. Poor show.

BUT I'm not going to sit there and type each individual item in that I need, am I?! Is that how you people internet shop? It must take you fifty billionty years, you mad, mad fools!

Still shit.

But Ocado has subsections too - don't understand how you mean.

So if I was looking for cup a soup, I'd go to Store cupboard - tins and cans - soup

or I'd search cup a soup

T be fair beans are in the tins and cans section too, and I know cup a soup sn't really a tin/can but other soup is hence why I'd go there first or search.

Hulababy · 05/03/2012 14:33

I shop either way but normally I am shopping from a menu plan so for quickness I do just type in each item and click on it, esp as many things are in my favourites anyway so come up first on the list.

I find it far longer to do it section by section.

That's how I do it.
I thought that's how you do it the first time you ever shop anywhere?
It's always quicker the next time because anything you buy gets stored in your favourites and then when you do another shop, they all pop up so you don't have to search for them.

How do you do it at Sainsbury's then?

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 14:39

I do it at Sainsbury's by nutting the keyboard and pressing "buy"

OP posts:
Whatevertheweather · 05/03/2012 14:41

But don't you then have to scroll through lots of things you don't want to get to the thing you do want in the sub section Confused

Surely typing it in is quicker and easier?

Ah how timely just had a text to say Andrew in Apple Van will be delivering my shopping today with no substitutions Smile

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 14:45

Andrew in Apple Van? Where the shit are you doing your shopping? Balamory?

Hulababy · 05/03/2012 14:46

Mine is coming later tonight too - Gareth in Strawberry Van (then reg number) No items missing :)

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 14:46

I love Leo in Lemon Van.

He is fucking gorgeous!

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 05/03/2012 14:49

YABVVVVVVVVU. Ocado is amazing! Waitrose is shite. Big fat shame I signed up to 12 months of JLP vouchers for my weekly shop. I now have to spend my precious Saturday morning actually going there in person. Not happy!

No I love it

And the ocado iPad app is just brilliant, especially if you use quick pin. Took me 10 mins last night, easy easy

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 14:51

They seem to have changed the van names.

No more beetroot, cabbage or courgette vans then?

Pornyissue · 05/03/2012 14:53

Also they do lily flame candles

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 14:54

Oh fucking hell they call their vans fruit names? I was right to take an instant dislike.

OP posts:
DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 14:57

No bup no!

Try 'em.

You'll get a very nice, polite (and often good looking driver) who carries all your food into your house for you, takes back your old bags (if you've shopped there before) and will refund you any problems there and then on the spot.

Tesco delivery IMO was fucking dire. I hate Tesco.

Pornyissue · 05/03/2012 14:58

I like the fruity names, it's adorable

Whatevertheweather · 05/03/2012 15:50

Aaah do they always try and alliterate their drivers and vans. C'mon Bups you gotta love a bit of alliteration with your home delivery Grin

orangina · 05/03/2012 16:02

No, you are wrong OP, 'tis marvellous. Set up a list, shop from there and the specials, and bob's your uncle.

Tesco is pants, Asda always about 10 seconds off its sell by date, Sainsburys was truly shite, my heart belongs to ocado (tragic)....

Sparklingblue · 05/03/2012 16:09

I had Marlon in onion van this morning :-)

Bramshott · 05/03/2012 16:14

Bupcakes - do you click on "view by categories"? That breaks down the gargantuan categories of eg. Fresh in fruit, veg, dairy etc. Once you have done a few shops (if you're anything like me and by the same shit all the time) then almost everything you want will be in your favourites.

I tried to defect to Waitrose for the free delivery and better range, but their website makes me want to tear all my hair out and eat my fists, so back to Ocado it is!

OriginalJamie · 05/03/2012 16:16

I have no problem with it

TeWihara · 05/03/2012 16:18

I have been on all 4 big websites this weekend (am trying them all out!) and thought Ocado was easily the best of the websites - I love that they split their categories down so much. Also I could get a free delivery slot (admittedly about 2 weeks in the future, but it was free! Whereas with sainsbury's there were no free slots at all even if I went 3 weeks into the future.)

I do have a very specific list before I start. Online shopping is not for browsers I have decided, trying to find offers you might actually be interested in is 20x harder on all of the sites than in store.

OriginalJamie · 05/03/2012 16:20

And it's always hard the first time. Once you've set up your first Shopping List, you're well away.
