To think that the Ocado website is crap?

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 13:43

I thought I'd give it a go today and do my online shop with Ocado.

Well, I've flounced back over to Sainsbury's because the Ocado website is SHIT. Not logical or anything. I don't know how anyone finds anything on there. Cup-a-Soups are next to beans are next to Cif bog cleaner.

Poor show, Ocado. Poor show.

YANBU - It's dreadful

No logic to it - not laid out in "aisles" which is normal and sensible.

I want the lovely goods but the website it too horrible

Can't use it myself

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 16:33

But I dont buy the same thing week in, week out so the first time is hard argument is a moot point because every time would be my 'first time' because I buy different stuff each shop. I've used Sainsbury's and Asda before and never found them that weird even on my first goes.

catgirl1976 · 05/03/2012 16:36

exactly buppy

What sort of person buys the same thing every week?!?

The sort of person who has meal plans probably.........I am not that organised or structured.

I need the order and logic of shelves so I can go round the virtual supermaket in my head like the real one.

I'm not odd, buppy isn't odd. Everyone else is odd. Ocado are very odd. Beans cannot be next to Cif. Universe will come undone

dinkystinkyexpectations · 05/03/2012 16:38

Bupcakes - while the ordering is a pain, the delivery is generally pain free (or if something is wrong/broken they'll immediately refund and give you some credits or a free bottle of wine the next shop). I've shopped with Tesco (easy to navigate, shit selection, rubbish delivery), Asda (dire - half first order missing, didnt even turn up with second delivery and didnt bother to tell me they werent coming), Sainsburys (crap delivery service- all meat at least 1 day past its best before date) and Waitrose (awful website, delivery v late) and found Ocado is the best of a bad, bad lot..

Pornyissue · 05/03/2012 16:42

Do the websites differ regionally or something?!

It so easy, even dh can use it.

jelliebelly · 05/03/2012 16:43

Yabu I love love love Ocado. Delivery pass fab. iPhone app fab. 1 hour slots, never late, and rarely anything missing. Weekly shop takes 10mins tops.

AND this week I got a free bottle of wine worth a tenner because it was the anniversary of when I started shopping with themSmile

OhTinky · 05/03/2012 16:48

Big Ocado fan here - it saves your shopping list, the app works, drivers are early/on time and polite. PLUS I got a free bottle of champagne, I blooming LOVE Ocado me! And it was proper champers, I looked on the receipt and it should have cost me £27! Grin

Im not a fan of the 4 page checkout though... It's like the sweets in front of the till in real life shopping. And I fall for it everytime!

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 16:56

Right, I am giving it another go...

OP posts:
DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 16:56

Why would it be laid out in aisles?

It comes from a fecking warehouse!

Would you like amazon to put things in aisles for you too? Hmm Grin

Bread, cereal, milk, yoghurt, fruit, lunch box stuff, potatoes, the list goes on. These are all things that we most people will eat on a weekly basis.

Bups you are actually beginning to fascinate me Grin

Catgirl and buppy we will arrange an interactive webinar and help you learn how to use it.

You will be converted and eventually learn to heart Ocado, I'm sure

did I mention that you get a free bottle of wine after your first shop for about the next three shops?

DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 16:57

You can do it!

catgirl1976 · 05/03/2012 17:09

If it isn't in aisles, how can I navigate around the imaginary supermarket in my head??

I can't just go hither and thither to random things like jam and then bacon. That makes no sense. I must go through each "aisle" as if it were a real supermarket, calmly and methodically starting with fruit and veg, moving seamlessly into the bakery and beyond.

That is how I shop. Ocado seem to think I already know what I want to buy. I don't!! I haven't a clue till I see it on the shelves.

Ocado are discriminating against me. I should be able to buy a stupidly expensive Heston Blumenthal ready meal if I want one. But I can't. Becuase I can't function without aisles :( :(

ceeveebee · 05/03/2012 17:11

YABU, I have used Ocado for about 5 years and find it so easy. They do have shelves, for example, fresh, frozen, food cupboard, drinks, baby etc and everything is then sorted into categories. So really do not know what you mean by CIF being next to beans, it just is not true! Must be using the site wrong or something.

AmandinePoulain · 05/03/2012 17:14

I'm Envy of you lucky people that can have Ocado deliveries after reading this thread (free wine! Grin)

I just told sainsburys I wouldn't shop online with them again after an email conversation about their ridiculous need to provide me with carrier bags (12 bags for a £80 shop? Really?) because 'some customers prefer it' and 'they can't think of a way to pack my shopping without them' Hmm so now I'm stuck with Tesco!

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 17:17

Free wine?! Why did I now know of this before?

OP posts:
DamnBamboo · 05/03/2012 17:32

I got free wine.

De Bertolli Shiraz.

I put a few bottles into my first shop then for the next three shops, I used a code given to me on the receipt for the previous shop and entered it at the 'till' to get a free bottle.

After three weeks they stopped Hmm but they had me hook line and sinker anyway.

Bramshott · 05/03/2012 18:23

I get free port once a year on my shoppingwithocadoiversary

Hulababy · 05/03/2012 18:32

Just had my three year anniversary with Ocado so have a free bottle of Prosecco just arrived :)

catgirl1976 · 05/03/2012 18:50

Ok - if there is free wine I may possibly be able to overcome the difficulties of the non aisle, strange layout thing

I'd do a lot for free wine................ :)

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 05/03/2012 18:58

I think they check your shopping history to determine if free wine is appropriate and if so the type. My muslim workmate uses them and gets free chocs on her anniversary as doesnt drink wine.

catgirl1976 · 05/03/2012 20:09

Hmm if they check my shopping history they'll be sending me Betty Ford vouchers.

BupcakesandCunting · 05/03/2012 20:30

BupcakesandCunting · 06/03/2012 10:30

Right, did my Ocado shop last night. After I eventually worked out how to use the site, I LOVED it. Blush Especially since I got my voucher code for a free bottle of wine next shop. They clearly know their audience. Now, does anyone know if I can add or delete items retrospectively? Only I've just done a cupboard audit which I probably should have done pre-shop and I've ordered shiteloads of stuff that I have. :(

OP posts:
bibbityisaporker · 06/03/2012 10:33

In the email confirming receipt of your order they will give you a time up to when you can amend it. When you go back in you need to click on Edit Order and don't forget to check out again!!! - a bit like a Mumsnet namechange, you need to save your amendments Wink.

BupcakesandCunting · 06/03/2012 10:35

Ahhh thanks Bibbity! I knew someone here would know!

BupcakesandCunting · 06/03/2012 10:36

Balls, it was at midnight last night. Oh well, that'll teach me.
