to NOT want a cleaner?

it seems to be very common on MN; paying another person to clean your house. Why can't the adults in the house do it between them? And once the kids are old enough to hold a duste,r teach them to help out as well.

I'd hate someone else in our house cleaning up our mess. It sends a bad message to children too. And no-one in this age of dishwashers, washing machines, vacuum cleaners is too busy to do it themselves.

I take all posters on here equally until they prove themselves utterly bonkers. I've not come across her posts before.

breatheslowly · 03/03/2012 21:06

There seem to be a lot of you should on this thread. You might as well say "just because, end of". It has as much logic.

DamnBamboo · 03/03/2012 21:07

I do take pride in my home theinets it is clean and tidy.

Grin
DamnBamboo · 03/03/2012 21:08

Why wouldn't theinet be taken seriously?

otchayaniye · 03/03/2012 21:15

I used to have a housekeeper. Still cooked and did plenty about the place.

Now only have a cleaner. I do agree about everyone (even my three year old) chipping in

OP YANBU. Whenever I think I really like MN, I go and read a thread that sends me into a parallel universe and I realise I loathe it. I am with the OP totally on this.... and for those bleating about 'women's work' being a good reason to not do your own cleaning - how many of you are employing a MALE cleaner??

ArielNonBio · 03/03/2012 21:36

But how many MALES apply to be cleaners??? Don't be absurd.

Chubfuddler · 03/03/2012 21:36

Give me a good reason why I should do it myself.

blushingcrow · 03/03/2012 21:37

Thank you ,ConstantCraving ...Threads like this make me loathe MN too

ArielNonBio · 03/03/2012 21:38

Well why are you posting then? Go and do your housework instead.

DamnBamboo · 03/03/2012 21:40

What difference does it make if the cleaner is male or female?

Why has this become a gender issue?

Surely it's about paying someone, anyone to clean your house!

Please answer me, why is it wrong to do this?

CreepyWeeBrackets · 03/03/2012 21:40

Male cleaners are too expensive

And lets face it - would be utter shit. Well these ones would be.

PurpleRomanesco · 03/03/2012 21:42

Oh FGS stop it. You are starting to sound like idiots now. Why does the bother you? I don't have a cleaner but would love one.

Honestly, It makes you loathe MN? This just reeks of envy.

breatheslowly · 03/03/2012 21:45

My cleaner is male. Does that make it ok now?

breatheslowly · 03/03/2012 21:46

I would like to make it very clear that my male cleaner is fully clothed when working at my house.

Chubfuddler · 03/03/2012 21:48

I don't understand the point if the semi naked male cleaners. My cleaner cones while I am out. She might strip off for all I know.

trixymalixy · 03/03/2012 21:49

My next door neighbour has a male cleaner. He is very much in demand and has a massive waiting list because he is so meticulous. I'm sure that's the reason anyway Grin.

blushingcrow · 03/03/2012 21:49

It's not the fact that some posters have cleaners good luck to them , it's the fact that most MNetters think it's the norm .

Chubfuddler · 03/03/2012 21:50

Who think its the norm? Who has said that? There is a massive amount of stating as fact on this thread.

It's definitey not the norm in my circle of friends or work colleagues. Where has anyone said it's the norm?

ConstantCraving · 03/03/2012 21:51

No purple not envious. How to begin to explain? The world is divided between those who would have a cleaner and those who wouldn't. I wouldn't.

Glittertwins · 03/03/2012 21:52

Eh? Who said it was norm??
