to NOT want a cleaner?

it seems to be very common on MN; paying another person to clean your house. Why can't the adults in the house do it between them? And once the kids are old enough to hold a duste,r teach them to help out as well.

I'd hate someone else in our house cleaning up our mess. It sends a bad message to children too. And no-one in this age of dishwashers, washing machines, vacuum cleaners is too busy to do it themselves.

I cannot change the wage my staff are paid - I am their manager, not the owner of the company.

I have worked as a commercial cleaner myself and really enjoyed it. I have had far higher paid jobs that I really did not like. By working hard as a cleaner I got promoted up to manager. I used to be proud every day I went to work in this job knowing I was not on income support and was trying to support myself, my disabled husband and my baby.

Many of my staff do domestic work also for some extra cash. One of them is turning into a businesswoman, employing other workers and is doing well for herself.

Employing a cleaner gives clients extra quality time with their family, it gives staff a wage and shows children that if you work hard you can have little luxuries.

I don't understand why the OP bothered asking the question? Genuinely confused? Who cares? Who's business is it anyway? Weird... Confused

LeQueen

I absolutely agree. Cleaning is not degrading, I used to love doing it and many of my staff really enjoy their jobs.

Glittertwins · 03/03/2012 12:11

what Lequeen says.

I have to add, that I am not great at cleaning somehow. I can do an adequate job, but it is never as professional a job as when it has been done by a professional cleaner.

Some people have their house cleaned by others. Some people have their nails cut and painted by others, some people have their clothes cleaned by dry Cleaners, some people have other people cook for them and served to them (restaurant). These are all jobs people could do themselves, but it is a luxury and a pleasure to have someone do things for you.

Other people go to car washes when they could perfectly well clean their own cars! Some even use valet service!

outrage.

not.

yabu and judgy and a bore.
