The boring stuff is probably true, the rest is made up.

Hullygully · 01/03/2012 16:09

Not just me then? Couple of easy to spot threads this week, coupled with a few high profile ones last week have sent me into a complete spin - to the point where I simultaneously believe and disbelive every single thread.

I need to start my own to see if my brain will, actually explode.

lesley33 · 01/03/2012 16:09

No not everything is made up! I know because I have posted some of it....at least I don't think its ALL boring [wonders]

lesley33 · 01/03/2012 16:11

But i know I have posted totally true stuff on here and people have doubted me Sad

Psammead · 01/03/2012 16:12

If you could just comment 'sardines' on the fishy ones, I'd be most grateful. I never notice dodgy threads.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 01/03/2012 16:12

These novel ideas should be shelved. They are shit.

ShirleyO · 01/03/2012 16:14

Hahah Chick.

I think the OP of all the orphan/lawyer/nasty family members ones is the MN equivilent of Martina Cole.

Load of old shite, same tired fucking theme and it makes you feel a bit dirty when you've finished one. And not in a good way.

ilovetopost01 · 01/03/2012 16:15

Wow the compassion!
Sad

Lemonylemon · 01/03/2012 16:16

lesley33 me too, my life is a bloody soap opera - you'd never believe me if I did post about it all. But there you go.....

ShirleyO Grin

chickens you're so right.....

GrahamTribe · 01/03/2012 16:17

Someone's sure having fun out there. I checked out Pistonheads but there doesn't seem to have been any mention of MN for some while but somethings definitely fishy around here atm.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 01/03/2012 16:18

If these stories became books, they'd be self published and free on the Kindle. And reviewed by the author and their mum.

seeker · 01/03/2012 16:21

I don't mind the big lies. It's the little ones repeating urban myths about lunch boxes and old ladies in Boots and at bus stops that piss me off.

Oh and people who don't know what NC levels mean. It's never the 2bs in year 2 or the 4bs in year 6 who don't know what they mean. When did you last see a SATS thread where the answer would be "yes, well done, your child is perfectly average."?

OracleInaCoracle · 01/03/2012 16:21

ilovetopost, yep. I have no compassion for fuckers who make up stories to suck trauma, cash, sympathy and time from genuine posters who need help. and it the twats who troll who make it harder for genuine posters.

now, this chocolate philly....

softpaw · 01/03/2012 16:27

if anyone ever seemed to notice my responses, i might believe ANYONE was there.....

The boring stuff is probably true, the rest is made up.

Maybe in your world.

In my world I could tell you about:

My best mate's sis whose son and husband beat their neighbour to death.

Or the kid in my brother class at school who hung himself after getting caught importing kiddie porn.

Or the friend of a friend who got married secretly so she could get round visa problem and kept it a secret for years. Never actually telling her parents. Even when she got 'married' again.

Or the about my deeply respectable male friend who was into dogging websites, had a separate hd for his porn and had a threesome with his wife and another woman.

I could probably (definitely) go on. I don't live on a council estate, nor am I on benefits nor any other cliche. I live in deepest darkest middle england and I'm incredibly dull.

The best trolls are the ones who tell the truth actually. IMO.

fallenpetal · 01/03/2012 16:29

Im so glad you all think this too! Ive clicked on a few lately and thought wtf! and ignored them...some I really cant decide on till others doubt the op...Id be grateful for lots of sardine comments too lol

Seriously, do these people have NO life?

LadyBeagleEyes · 01/03/2012 16:31

You should all just dereail these threads like narkypuffin was doing last night.
Though admittedly I now know more about Paraguay than I ever wanted to know.
And snipe for that matter.

Trills · 01/03/2012 16:31

It's not about how boring or how unusual the story is, it's about how you tell it.

But we won't go into that because any discussion of the details of how you say it ends up being Top Tips for Trolling

ScarletAvenger · 01/03/2012 16:36

top tips for trolling...

... actually have a full back story before you make your first post. Oh whoops.

Except real posters still get flustered make mistake or are inconsistant anyway especially in the face of the troll hunters...

I think some posters really would be surprised at which posts are real sometimes.

lisaro · 01/03/2012 16:42

Lesley33 'But i know I have posted totally true stuff on here and people have doubted me'

You liar!!
Seriously, though, the fluffy wuffys will always feed the trolls. They need to open their eyes and harden up a bit. Grin

adamschic · 01/03/2012 16:44

I'm sure that many people's lives are very raunchy and interesting. Mine is, but I wouldn't post about it all over the internet on an open forum for the whole world to see.

I use mumsnet for other reasons.

ScarletAvenger · 01/03/2012 16:44

Hmmm maybe this is a challenge. For people to post real posts and see if the troll hunters fall for it.
