I am sat on the ferry to work [stealth boast sorry!] There is a man two seats away from me snip snip snipping his nails! AIBU or is that just weird and gross?

Weird and gross

(really hope it was finger and not toe nails Shock )

pleasethanks · 23/02/2012 20:21

It is foul. Is keeping careful hold of them or are they pinging about the place? If so, keep your mouth firmly closed for fear of one going in your mouth.

I also hate when people clean out their nails with a pen lid or paperclip etc on their commute. Ming.

Livinginoz · 23/02/2012 20:22

He left them all over the floor and has now got up and moved Angry
They didn't ping near me, thank God!Grin

Eewww.

I can see why if it was a broken nail and it was snagging, but just the one! Not a whole flippin set.

HowCanADoorBeAJar · 23/02/2012 20:26

A man was sitting opposite me, cutting his nails this morning on the tube this morning. They were flying everywhere. I felt ill and it was certainly not morning sickness related.

pleasethanks · 23/02/2012 20:26

I once had to change desks with a horrible guy in my office. He was a greedy slob who smelt like grease. Anyway, when I sat at his desk, I moved the keyboard and there was loads of finger nails bits that he had bitten and left there. voooooooooooomit

My son sucked his [own] toes on the tube today- however he is only 22months and it looked quite cute!! Pretty gross. What did he do with the clippings?

Icelollycraving · 23/02/2012 20:38

Repulsive. I told someone this when they were clipping their nails behind me on the bus. Beyond rank.

ooer · 23/02/2012 20:40

Gak.

Envy - is sick face, not envy. Poor you.

BalloonTwister · 23/02/2012 20:59

it's only a stealth boast it it's not the Isle of Wight ferry! Grin

Icelollycraving · 23/02/2012 21:41

Is it the woolwich ferry? :o

Livinginoz · 23/02/2012 21:48

It was the Manly to Sydney ferry, past the bridge and the opera house Grin [that was an actual boast!]
He left them all over the floor, got up and sat somewhere else, maybe he disgusted himself!

OP posts:
Icelollycraving · 23/02/2012 22:04

Well that does sound more glam than the woolwich ferry!

LAlady · 23/02/2012 22:17

Bit like the lady who Is naked, bent over, cutting her toe nails in the changing rooms at my gym. Said nail cuttings are left over the floor.

FilterCoffee · 23/02/2012 22:28

YANBU. Ugh!

M0naLisa · 23/02/2012 22:37

Eurgh gross!!!

AndiMac · 23/02/2012 22:41

Were you sitting outside on the ferry? Because although still gross, I would be ever slightly more tolerant if it was outside and likely to become quickly fish food.

What is up with that?!

A guy last week was standing up on the bus cutting his nails. I was looking at him with utter disgust and he didn't get it. He looked surprised at my expression.

I'm pretty intolerant of any personal grroming on public transport. Hair brushing, putting on make-up, etc. Get up 10 mins earlier or do it when you get to the office.

carocaro · 23/02/2012 23:48

Women next to me in the movies once took off her flip flop and started to pick under the nails in her feet, it was vile, I told her to stop, she did.
If you are inSydney the sun is out the sky is blue, what more do you want?????

pepitoincognito · 24/02/2012 00:01

I had first kiss with now DH on that ferry. Now I am wondering if we were embracing in a nailclipping and footcrust den. Nice.

CointreauVersial · 24/02/2012 00:09

Oh dear.

I've done it on the train a couple of times. Blush Only fingernails, though, and I did collect my clippings. And not in Sydney.

They were all ragged and shredded, and it was rare to actually have 20 minutes sitting down with no interruptions.

Livinginoz · 24/02/2012 04:20

Cointreau, that is no excuse!

Although I am this afternoon wondering where an appropriate place to cut your nails is, as apparently the living room in front of the TV isn't, according to a girl I work with! Hmm

I once sat next to a chap on the tube cleaning his ears with a baby bud. Foul.
Felt like puking into my own handbag! On the upside he did take the bud with him when he got off.
