To want to know how the crap this hotel can charge £250 a night?!

Just hunting for a hotel for DH and I for our anniversary. We're going to go to London for a couple of nights and try and re-create the weekend that we should have had last June on my 30th (spent the weekend in the hotel room with a sickness bug!)

Anyway... just checking OctopusTravel and clocked THIS stunning looking hostelry. £250 a night for such luxurious surroundings is a bargain, I'm sure you'll agree.

Seriously, I stayed in nicer backpacker's hostels when I was going round Europe in the '90s. It's a typo innit? £25 surely?

surely that is the price for moving in for a year?

fullofregrets · 20/02/2012 22:56

Or to buy the establishment?

ENormaSnob · 20/02/2012 22:57

Can't open the link Sad

OldGreyWiffleTest · 20/02/2012 22:57

Judging by the reviews it should be £2.50 !!

rhondajean · 20/02/2012 22:57

I've just tried booking.com cos I couldn't believe it either and it's 100 for a double. I think that's steep for it!

It's sold out during olympics btw...

Marilyn1980 · 20/02/2012 22:58

the search for "OXO Tower the hotel" is over. shithole

BloodyDogEscapedAgain · 20/02/2012 22:58

Seriously?! I've stayed in way way better for way way less!!!

Its like that scary thing at the beginning of The Beach

PrisonerOfWaugh · 20/02/2012 22:59

Do you think maybe they don't actually want any guests?

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 20/02/2012 22:59

£250 for a hotel in London is normal, but not one that looks like that!

Is the date you wanted really soon, or do you think it might coincide with a particularly big event at Olympia? Prices do get extortionate near exhibitions.

MaisyMooCow · 20/02/2012 22:59

It's awful. Reminds me of something you see on the horror film when someone has been abducted and held in some dodgy hideout.

Seriously though, I have to book hotels in London on a regular basis and it's apalling some of the rates they charge for so called 4/5* hotels. Most of them are flea pits compared to similar rated accommodation around the country.

"Its like that scary thing at the beginning of The Beach"

I bet the cockroaches are queuing to get out. For another £45, you can stay at The Ritz!

They have confused themselves with another hotel, clearly. We see grim Edwardian terrace, they see boutique specialness.

The Westminster Park Plaza is very nice and it has a pool.

galletti · 20/02/2012 23:00

Yeah they have the decimal point in the wrong place. Are you going during the Olympics - not that that should make ANY difference.

Pandemoniaa · 20/02/2012 23:00

I'd want to be paid £250 to stay there. What a dump! But I'll bet crap hotels all over London plan to rip off visitors in 2012 - it's the fucking Olympics, innit?

QuintessentialyHollow · 20/02/2012 23:01

I would say that Octopus Travel must be making killing on their commission. If you go to Hotels.com the hotel is only £50 per night....

ENormaSnob · 20/02/2012 23:01

Buppy, you are older than me Grin

BupcakesandCunting · 20/02/2012 23:02

Lords Hotel has similar lofty ideas What kind of Lord would stay there?! A drunk lord, that's what kind.

I'm going September, kitchenRoll.

"Rather drug den chic" Oh holy hell. It really is terrifying isn't it. I don't understand the prices at all. Send in Alex at once.

MaisyMooCow · 20/02/2012 23:03

I'm itching just looking at these places.

QuintessentialyHollow · 20/02/2012 23:03

Again. Octopus.com. Use Hotels.com instead. They give the actual prices, not a 400% markup for a killer commission.

BupcakesandCunting · 20/02/2012 23:04

As does Camelot House Pissing myself laughing at the "tiger" bedspread on one picture and WHERE the blue fuck do they buy these "Aztec" bedspreads from? I know they hide a lot of spunk/period/sick dirt from previous patrons but come on!

Vomiting.

Taking my own bedding everywhere from now on.

tethersend · 20/02/2012 23:10

Ha, I pass the beautiful Acropolis hotel on my way to work.

I wouldn't stay there if you paid me £250 Grin

tethersend · 20/02/2012 23:11

Seriously, don't stay in Shepherd's Bush. At all.

squeakytoy · 20/02/2012 23:13

They have definately put the decimal point in the wrong place.. and it is an absolute shithole around there anyway...
