To want to know how the crap this hotel can charge £250 a night?!

Just hunting for a hotel for DH and I for our anniversary. We're going to go to London for a couple of nights and try and re-create the weekend that we should have had last June on my 30th (spent the weekend in the hotel room with a sickness bug!)

Anyway... just checking OctopusTravel and clocked THIS stunning looking hostelry. £250 a night for such luxurious surroundings is a bargain, I'm sure you'll agree.

Seriously, I stayed in nicer backpacker's hostels when I was going round Europe in the '90s. It's a typo innit? £25 surely?

I won't, Tethers! I'll probably end up staying where I normally stay (Grange Fitzrovia)

Another to make your skin crawl I'd rather stay at Bates Motel.

OMFG those cannot be real surely??Shock i know its london and everything...but f88k...surely not!! Id pay £50 for one of those for the night, max, jesus-the hilton only cost me £60pn when i stayed there and that was 4* with all/everything/anything you can eat breakfast!!

Theyve got to be taking the p8ss surely?? how do they customers!? the review under the links are terrible too lol

squeakytoy · 20/02/2012 23:26

Actually.. looking at other hotels, is that for dates while the Olympics are on? because everwhere seems to have quadrupled their prices...

I think I might rent my house out for a month... at those sort of prices I could go on a nice long holiday, avoid all the disruption that the Olympics are going to cause, and probably still make a good profit!!! Grin

Nobody reads my posts. Sad

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/02/2012 23:43

C'mon Buppy those yellow walls, the blue curtains, the stripey bed bases and the MFI wardrobe....

You'll have Mr Bupcake down to Focus Do It All Outlet to re-create 'The Look'

BupcakesandCunting · 20/02/2012 23:52

It will be featured on Changing Rooms soon. Lawrence Llewelyn Bowlegs will be waxing lyrical about the trend of "hostel chic". Formica furniture really gives that Shepherd's Bush one-star feel, whilst an "Aztec" bedspread will create a focal point whilst clashing stylishly with the bile-coloured walls.

Acknowledges Quints posts

The others are too busy frothing at the sheer preposterousness of the prices

QuintessentialyHollow · 20/02/2012 23:54

Why, Thank You (muchly), HerRoyal!

BupcakesandCunting · 20/02/2012 23:55

We are frothing at the decor, as well actually.

tethersend · 20/02/2012 23:58

I bet there's a lot of froth on the bedspreads.

I'mhereallweek.

BupcakesandCunting · 20/02/2012 23:59

Tethers! Arf!

keepingupwiththejoneses · 21/02/2012 00:09

Haha! quints, that is a serious price hike!

keepingupwiththejoneses · 21/02/2012 00:14

quintes it is £500 if you put the dates the OP has. That is so wrong. OP try this one only £358 ans so much nicer, nearer the city centre too.

Queenofcake · 21/02/2012 00:25

The red/orange curtains look remarkably similar to the curtains supplied in my Married Quarter which have the date they were issued as 1992.

Just thought I would share that useless nugget of infomation with you.

MrsDistinctlyMintyMonetarism · 21/02/2012 01:41

Those look terrible!

We used to use Superbreaks a lot when we spent 7 months living in hotels, they have some great prices. Here's what I got when I put in your dates and spending no more than the palace ^^!!

It reminds me of an hotel I stayed in at Kiev many years ago during the Communist era - and trust me, that was bad!!!

TubbyDuffs · 21/02/2012 05:44

They are taking the piss!

Ugghh I can almost feel the bedbugs biting now!

HillyWallaby · 21/02/2012 05:51

I'm bewildered. Confused

Especially as on the same page there is a link to this for more than a hundred quid less.

ReebleBauble · 21/02/2012 11:15

My DP works with a lot of hotels in London both swank and wank ones. They've all been hiking their prices for the last year due to the olympics. One 5* hotel was charging a grand a night for a single room without breakfast... and it sold out 6 months ago.

Try trivago.com. It searches all the hotel websites for the best deal. I've even used it to score cheaper rooms at our wedding venue Grin. Special wedding rates my arse!
