Are you sure you're not from Kansas?

Spero · 21/02/2012 13:05

The papal envoy to Ireland was dispatched back to the Vatican!!

Pause to wipe enormous egg off face.

That's me told then. What a completely acceptable response. No doubts whatsoever there about just how evil the Church had been. We can all furl up our banners now.

computer explodes due to irony overload.

ScarlettCrossbones · 21/02/2012 13:06

ScarlettCrossbones thats something you will have to figure out for yourself really 'shrug'

Ah, another lovely, fudgy, meaningless answer from a Christian, continuing to skirt round my question. How true to form.

Spero · 21/02/2012 13:09

You see little Timmy, your sense of what is normal and healthy in relationships has been completely fucked up because of what Father O'Malley repeatedly did to you in the choir stalls, with the full knowledge and connivance of the local bishop who just shunted him off to another parish when it all got a bit awkward... buy hey, its all ok now because the Papal envoy to Ireland was dispatched back to the Vatican.

Sorry, only read the thread title and OP, but why is Chris offensive? My cousin is called Chris. He's really really nice.

ScarlettCrossbones · 21/02/2012 13:18

LOL Creepy!!!! Didn't notice the third mistake in the title until now! Grin

SarahStratton · 21/02/2012 13:20

It could be 'Chuff'. That's a tiny bit rude.

Spero · 21/02/2012 13:21

Tapdancing fucking Zeus.

Who fucking well invented the internet. I have 76 pages of tedious drivel to read before 2pm. Its not happening is it.

76 drivelling pages of work related stuff I mean, not this thread which is deeply interesting and in no way simply consists of two opposing camps who will never ever agree with nor understand one another.

ReduceRecycleRegift · 21/02/2012 13:25

I know a few nuns, in moments of exasperation they'll say things like:
Jesus H Christ
JAAAAYSUS mary and the little donkey
and many other creative "swear preventers" Grin

I don't think it's offensive, but I grew up in a Catholic country where its done by everyone, Catholics, priests, nuns, children...

madhairday · 21/02/2012 13:32

'His other quirk is using 'Christian' to denote bad driver... unfortunately whenever I've started to open my mouth to object sure enough, there's been a fish logo on the back of the offending car. grin'

Grimma - Grin dh and me say that too - and we are, as you know, fully fledged Christians.

But we are good drivers too.

Fish stickers do, unfortunately, appear to render their owners incapable of driving at the speed limit, or indeed anywhere near it.

'Tis why we won't have one Grin

madhairday · 21/02/2012 13:39

What or who is Fenton?

DioneTheDiabolist · 21/02/2012 13:40

Spero, you said that there was no evidence that members of religions were challenging crimes committed. I gave you evidence that they were.

Scarlet you started out believing that Christians have a definitive view of what will happen when you die, now you think it wooly. Have you changed your mind?

Technodad, I used to be an atheist.Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 21/02/2012 13:41

Spero... well, the Papal envoy thing seemed like a start. Sadly this suggests some would like to get back to business as usual Sad.

Dionne.... think some more vocalisation badly needed.

'Dr Martin (Archbishop of Dublin) said the Irish people had a great affection for the Holy See. ?I do not think it will be long before other arrangements are found?maybe not immediately, ?? he added.

He said the relationship between Ireland and the Vatican would continue to deepen.'

madhairday · 21/02/2012 13:42

...unless you mean Fenton in Stoke, in which case I can understand why it may be regarded as a vaguely amusing swear word? Grin

madhair - the viral dog.

woollyideas · 21/02/2012 13:42

Madhairday, here you are:

(Wonders whether the man calling Fenton is a Christian or a blasphemer...)

woollyideas · 21/02/2012 13:43

Sorry - cross post!

CreepyWeeBrackets · 21/02/2012 13:43

I hope it did mean, "Chuff". Or maybe "Crisp".

My cousin Chris is a godly young man who is committed to helping vulnerable young people day and night so I would hate for his name to be besmirched further

madhairday · 21/02/2012 13:44

haha that is funny Grin

DioneTheDiabolist · 21/02/2012 13:45

Archbishop Martin has also spoke out about his anger with the clergy when he was investigating clerical sex abuse.

CreepyWeeBrackets · 21/02/2012 13:47

Fenton is my ringtone. I should change it because when a middle-class bloke is yelling at me my initial instinct is, "oh fuck OFF", so I tend to enjoy his increasing outrage as I ignore but sometimes miss interesting calls.
