I am sure you must look really great in it or your would not have chosen it. I had two city hall marriages, plus attended another two. and there were brides there in wedding gowns getting married. Your dptb and yourself are who matters. Keep trying it on, and see if you relax over your choice. It is a very nice gown.

iscream · 19/02/2012 08:28

or you* would not have chosen it

pranma · 19/02/2012 08:34

It is absolutely beautiful. Congratulations.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 19/02/2012 08:36

I felt the same when I picked my dress up.

That dress is really beautiful, don't panic!

happyhorse · 19/02/2012 08:39

It's a beautiful dress. I had a hotel wedding and chose a simple dress and with hindsight wish I had chosen something a bit more special. I think yours is perfect - not over the top but not plain and boring.

I hope you have a lovely day.

duckdodgers · 19/02/2012 08:40

Its lovely. And its on a model - its you your DH to be will be marrying and Im sure he will think youre beautiful no matter - youre only a 14!

How much was it?

ZillionChocolate · 19/02/2012 08:43

Gorgeous. I agree about simple accessories. I think a (complicated) veil might distract from the back of the dress.

I think happy real brides look better than the expressionless models.

LydiaWickham · 19/02/2012 08:45

that's a gorgeous dress! Just because it's in a hotel doesn't mean you have to go simply dressed. The only woman I know who had wedding dress regrets afterwards were woman who felt they'd gone too simple/safe/cheap and wished they'd pushed the boat out a bit more (as you only get to wear something like that once, but you may have opportunities to wear a plain cream dress again).

If your DH is anything like mine, he'll just be grateful you're walking down the ailse and agreeing to spend the rest of your life with him, he couldn't give a shit if I was in jeans or a replica of Jorden's pink wedding dress, just that I was there

FriskyMare · 19/02/2012 08:53

That dress is stunning! Makes a change from all the strapless dresses around at the moment.

flibbertywidget · 19/02/2012 08:55

Age is just a number, add in one of those GOK WAN undercracker things and bob's your uncle.

IT is a stunning dress, it is your day, everyone will think you look beautiful and you will have your hair and make up done and feel special.

I am 40 and I would wear this, if I wasn't mahoosive and if I was getting married. Sadly, I am more likely to climb Everest than marry DP.

FriskyMare · 19/02/2012 08:57

I love the bermudas and the bermeo too (like sleeves me :o).
Wanna get married all over agin now!!!

OBface · 19/02/2012 09:00

Really really beautiful dress OP - not a huge meringue and Pronovias lace is very expensive looking. Super choice.

I had a civil ceremony (DH is hindu) and went for a detailed dress. Why wouldn't you - it's your day to be fabulous! Have a wonderful day.

After the wedding cake thread, tempted to start a wedding dress thread...

marmiteandjam · 19/02/2012 09:01

Sooo gorgeous, that is just the sort of style I would choose if I ever get married again.

kitsmummy · 19/02/2012 09:10

Oh that's utterly beautiful. I had a Pronovias lace dress (can't remember the style) and it was bloody gorgeous (pic on my profile I think, check it out, it might reassure you).

One of the best things about it? When I went dress shopping with my mum and was looking at lace dresses, she was very much "Oh, I just assumed you'd go for something plain, every wedding I've been too recently the brides had really plain dresses". This made my day, the last thing I wanted to do was look like every other bride! She totally loved my dress, as did everyone else, I think you'll look stunning

EnjoyResponsibly · 19/02/2012 09:16

Love it!

My advice would be to Keep your flowers simple. Don't go frothy, maybe a bunch of creamy calas.

ILoveSanta · 19/02/2012 10:59

Love your dress, totally gorgeous wish I was getting married so I could wear it

porcamiseria · 19/02/2012 11:02

BLESS, I think its lovely

Heswall, one of my BF is from heswall said its the best town ever!!! is it?

Antalya1 · 19/02/2012 11:07

Thank you so much everyone, some really good sound advice there...I feel a little better about it today, I've never spent more than £60 on a dress before (thanks to Outlet's)! and it will definatly be going onto e-bay afterwards!! and DF will love it...but then again as was pointed out I could turn up in a bin bag and he would still just be glad that I was there !!

Finally managed to get through to the Bering dress on this iPad and it is gorgeous, in fact all of them are lovely. What a fab company! I'm sure you will feel special on your day.

annalovesmrbates · 19/02/2012 11:24

Finally found it, its amazing! Enjoy your day!

CiderwithBuda · 19/02/2012 11:24

It's beautiful. Very elegant.

Sannebanana · 19/02/2012 11:30

I think it's beautiful :) It's simple with a twist, not too simple but not over the top either, it's lovely. I'll have it if you don't want it! :o

CMOTDibbler · 19/02/2012 13:34

Well, I'll be 40 this year, and a 14, and if I was marrying dh (instead of it being our 15th anniversary), I'd def buy that dress. It is gorgeous and vvvv flattering.

valiumredhead · 19/02/2012 13:40

Are you kidding? That dress is stunning!

newbiedoobiedoo · 19/02/2012 13:49

It's beautiful! 40s is not old! And I can only imagine it would be very flattering no matter the size! Though a 14 isn't big?!

I wish I'd had a dress like this. Enjoy wearing it and being stunning!
