Show us a picture, then. Wink

I think it looks beautiful, it will probably look wonderful on you.
And you are allowed to wear a beautiful dress like this at any venue.

mockingjay · 19/02/2012 00:08

Hi OP - it's beautiful, congratulations!!

I am in a similar position, 6 weeks to go and dress has just been made. It's been made a lot longer than it was supposed to be and is unalterable due to lace etc. I keep telling myself I won't care what I've got on once I see DH Smile

hadagutsfull · 19/02/2012 00:15

It's beautiful and I'm sure you'll look beautiful! I felt the same when I collected my dress - told my mum I hated it and shed a few tears. On the day though as I was getting ready everything fell into place and I was really happy with it and how I looked. Put it down to the stress of getting everything organised. Good luck! Grin

serin · 19/02/2012 00:15

Wow! Amazing dress, so refreshing after years of identikit strapless dresses.

Very elegant.

slowestwildebeast · 19/02/2012 00:18

agree with Serin (see above previous comment) you'll look lovely :)

aldiwhore · 19/02/2012 00:40

Its beautiful. Just go easy on accessories!

:)

stressheaderic · 19/02/2012 00:51

Cost a few quid that. Beautiful. Tasteful, classic, yet of the moment. I love it.

MaisyMooCow · 19/02/2012 00:55

A really beautiful frock, you'll look amazing on the big day!

I agree with aldiwhore it's a gorgeous dress and needs very very minimal accessories, perhaps just some pearl studs and a small pendant or even no necklace at all.

PipTrillPip · 19/02/2012 01:19

That is a gorgous dress OP

LesserOfTwoWeevils · 19/02/2012 01:22

Gorgeous dress. Smile

featherbag · 19/02/2012 01:26

That is stunning, you have nothing to worry about!

Rowboat · 19/02/2012 01:43

Such a beautiful dress. This is the one day you can shine out, so who cares about age, venue, etc. if you love it. And you must do to order it. I agree that many very simple dresses are actually a bit dull..i tried on loads of dresses that just merged into one.
Also my best friend just got married in a gorgeous lace number in front of 30 people in a hotel. It was totally appropriate because she looked beautiful. Don't worry, you'll look amazing and it'll be a wonderful day! Congratulations.

flyingspaghettimonster · 19/02/2012 02:28

I like it... I think it is quite simple.

Give yourself a day or two to get used to it. See if it grows on you. If not, you still have time to find a sample dress. You should be totally happy with it though... I feel like such a bitch, bit I didn't love my dress. I fell in love with a huge red silk gown by a major designer with a train about 2 metres long... but second hand it was still a fortune so I ends up designing line with an amazing period costume designer. I loved the material I chose and should have loved the gown... but it ended up costing more than the one I originally loved and I just didn't :-( it made me dislike my wedding photos too as it was such a costly error. Maybe if I had had a few weeks of it hanging on my bedroom door where I could see it I would have been ready for how it looked... as it was only finished the morning of the wedding I didn't have a chance to change anything.

So please do try to fall in love with it before the big day and good luck!

Solo · 19/02/2012 02:37

How lovely! and not an uncovered shoulder in sight! gorgeous!!

NoMoreMarbles · 19/02/2012 02:52

Beautiful dressGrin I loved my dress but wished I had chosen the lace version as mine was rather severe and quirkier than I was going for... Still the dress still makes me sigh whenever I peek at itSmile

You need to allow yourself to love the dress and forget the "modelly" version! Look at the "you" version I would bet that you look beautifulSmile

spamm · 19/02/2012 03:02

You need to decide what you want to feel in your dress. I tried on some beautiful empire line dresses and I could see that they looked beautiful on me, but felt wrong. I felt like I was wearing a nightgown.

I needed to feel like I was getting married, and I bought a large pouffy, tulle skirted dress, looked great and felt fabulous.

The Bering dress is wonderful, but the important thing is how it makes you feel. Do not worry so much about the environment, location, etc, but does it make you feel special. Good luck!

AngryBeaver · 19/02/2012 03:07

It is utterly sumptuous.I promise. My best friend had one very similar and I was sooo jealous,I wanted to get married again just to wear one like that.Sheer class and elegance.
Please dont worry, you will feel like Heidi Klum on your big day...and so you should.
Just to sum up...JEALOUS!

mybrainsthinkingfuckyouagain · 19/02/2012 03:20

I was expecting a Miranda chiffon-based anaphylactic shock...
I am disappointed to find an exquisite and elegant gown rather than the anticipated meringue.

You will be gorgeous - size 14 is fab, in your 40s yeah and? you will be gorgeous you stealth boaster you! Wink

sweetestchilli · 19/02/2012 03:21

Haven't read all the thread Blush but I got married 8 months ago. My Wedding dress was pronovias.....they are gorgeous dresses! On the day I tried my dress my chief bridesmaid said 'yes thats the one'! I doubted for ages, (it wasn't what I wanted) but on the day it was perfect!
I hope you have the wonderful, fantastic day me and DH did...xx

WillSingForCake · 19/02/2012 07:29

It's beautiful, and you'll look fantastic. If you're feeling bad about the cost, you can always eBay it after the wedding. If you do it quickly, whilst the dress is still for sale at this shop, then you'll get a good return for it, as some people will have seen it in store & then do a search for it online to try & get it cheaper.

Proudnscary · 19/02/2012 07:58

Darling you will look FABULOUS!

I love the lace, it's beautiful.

Stop panicking, you will be a knockout.

x
