I had no idea.

I've been away from the UK, and just saw the actual proposals/rules on another thread.

Its bad right?

I imagine there is another thread on this so if there is, sorry ...I can't find it! :)

Imperialblether....yes and no....yes there is, but only once the divorce is final...and no, it costs a fortune for legal council to do it and the states is notorious for just letting international claims slide.

UnlikelyAmazonian · 18/02/2012 17:19

Meglet, are you talking about your ex in your post? I guess so. That's shit,. It's doubly shit though that a husband can fuck off to thailand to shag whores, taking all available cash with him, leave his wife in the shit and pay nothing whatsoever towards his children (he also has two daughters by his exP) forever more.

What happened to Cameron's pledge to deal with feckless fathers?

Oh yes, silly me again. Fuck all happened to that pledge. Just another speech written on a piece of bog roll.

I really must remember to buck my ideas up and try tio find my ds a role model male, a good secondary education, make him healthy five-a-day meals, be with him when he is in pain or has a temperature, keep him free from nits, try to get him well travelled so that he has an expansive view on life, make sure i keep slogging so that he can see that working Pays (hmm)

oh, and remember absolutely not to slate his absent father (who is lecturing [lechering??] doncha know at a fancy uni in thailand while he bangs his new burmese wife) as that might damage my son..no no i must pay my taxes, tell my son his daddy loves him, be fucking poor and continue to clean up other peoples' shit.

This is what my university educashion trained me for.

trustissues75 · 18/02/2012 17:19

Imperialblether - in addition, the fuckwit quit his job and in his financial affadavit is claiming zero coming in (more money spent on lawyers playing detective to look for his heidden wealth) I simply cannot afford to go after the wanker.

UnlikelyAmazonian · 18/02/2012 17:21

..can I just add, apropo of absolutely nought, that I loathe phil tufnell and a question of sport. Phil tufnell makes me want to sick up an old lady's twice regurgitated vomit

UnlikelyAmazonian · 18/02/2012 17:21

..as you were..

ClothesOfSand · 18/02/2012 17:22

Happymum, I can understand that perspective. But come June, I really want a full time job again and as DD starts secondary school in September I don't have constraints. I don't want to have to compete for a job against a whole load of people who don't want one of the few jobs available and are being pushed into it by the government despite it being bad for their kids or their health.

I also don't want DH to have to work full time when he is disabled and it could make his health a lot worse, thus possibly making it impossible for him to work part time in the long term. It seems ridiculous.

DillyTheDinosaur · 18/02/2012 17:23

So as from next year (do you know which month?) The NRP will have to pay extra, which will go to the government, and the RP will receive less, as the government will have to take a cut, and both will have to pay set up costs?

Are the figures set in stone yet?

KalSkirata · 18/02/2012 17:24

where are all these jobs Tory Apologists?

trustissues75 · 18/02/2012 17:25

UnlikelyAmazonian - indeed. Where is the push to go after the true blaggers - the fathers who dissapear, mentally abuse you for not doint a good enough job, threaten you with shit like PAS because you dare to try to explain to your child what exactly is happening....where's the money to track them down? Oh, no, it's probably easier to just go after the vulnerable and poor who have no voice because they can't bloody well afford to exercise their rights!!!! I watched a programme on the supreme court the other week - one of the judges there voiced his concerns on the every decreasing funds for legal aid. He said: "What is the point in having a right if one cannot afford to exercise it?"

alistron1 · 18/02/2012 17:27

I remember the tax credits coming in during 96/97 and you got a change in your tax code and the money was in your pay packet. DP was working full time as a new teacher and we (with 3 kids ) were entitled to £96 a month. Luckily I got a part time night/weekend job in a call centre earning £600 a month so we didn't need to claim. It struck me though as time went on that the whole WTC system was a method to hide the fact that wages in general DO NOT cover the cost of living. This has in part been driven by the housing boom of the noughties.

Why is it impossible for someone working full time on the minimum wage to support themselves? It's a scandal that housing and fuel costs are out of reach to MANY working people and that they NEED to be subsidised by the state.

DanJARMouse · 18/02/2012 17:30

If every one of the 239,372 vacancies was taken tomorrow THERE WOULD STILL BE 1,647,128 JOBSEEKERS OUT OF WORK.

(Office of National Statistics, December 2011)

And thats those on JSA. Which doesnt count many of those actively seeking work. We need more jobs, not jobs being taken away and given to slaves.

trustissues75 · 18/02/2012 17:30

Alistron - I completely agree....minimum wage is a joke.

Pekka · 18/02/2012 17:33

I welcome the Universal Tax credit, it seems OK to me.

EauDeLaPoisson · 18/02/2012 17:33

Just to pick someone up on an earlier point about single parents being unable to find a job that fits in with school hours- you get A job and use before/afterschool club surely? Im sorry flame me to hell here but I cannot see needing to use childcare for a couple of hours to accomadate your working day as a reason to stay at home and get benefits for it, sorry but really I don't

cazboldy · 18/02/2012 17:36

what about if your school has no before/after school club?

alistron1 · 18/02/2012 17:37

Eau, I have 1 kid in a breakfast club for 2 mornings a week. I have to pay up front every half term and it's a sizeable chunk out of my budget. The cost of childcare is unaffordable for many. I am lucky that I technically work 3 days, but it's spread out over 5 thus minimising my childcare spend. And if I had more than 1 kid that needed before/after school care or a pre-schooler I'd find it hard.

clare8allthepies · 18/02/2012 17:37

dilly the taper rate means that for every £1 your income goes up your tax credits goes down by 41p

alistron1 · 18/02/2012 17:37

Pekka, well bully for you.

Feminine · 18/02/2012 17:39

Eau, cos its easy to find jobs and childcare isn't it Confused

pekka would you mind elaborating?

I'd like to see something good in it...

ClothesOfSand · 18/02/2012 17:41

I'm lucky that my children are now older and I will not have to use out of school clubs. When I was working full time, I finished work at 5.00 pm or 5.30 pm on some days and I could not get back in time to pick the children up from out of school club as it finishes at six and there was only one bus an hour to the place where school was. I don't know how lone parents would do it without a car, which many people can't afford.

happybubblebrain · 18/02/2012 17:42

7 out of 10 of my local primary schools have no before/after school club. I'm lucky that I found a good nursery that makes it possible for me to work. Lots of areas won't have this.

PersonalClown · 18/02/2012 17:44

EauDeLaPoisson- My son is autistic. He has the mental age of a 4 year old while being a very tall 9 years old. (he wears 13-14 year old clothes)

There is NO special needs childcare provision around here. No childminders willing to take him on and no breakfast/after school clubs.

Dp works shifts so can be out as early as 5 am or not in till after Midnight. So how am I supposed to work if I can't find a school hours job?

DillyTheDinosaur · 18/02/2012 17:44

clare8allthepies - thanks for explaining Smile

Every £1 above what limit does your ctc start to decrease? Is there anyway to work this out? Is there an online calculator?

And does anyone know what 'disregarded income' is?

ClothesOfSand · 18/02/2012 17:45

I don't this thread is really about people staying at home. It is about the number of hours people will be expected to work.

DillyTheDinosaur · 18/02/2012 17:45

Can someone just write a post which sets out the number of hours people will have to work?
