I had no idea.

I've been away from the UK, and just saw the actual proposals/rules on another thread.

Its bad right?

I imagine there is another thread on this so if there is, sorry ...I can't find it! :)

Thanks hookaduck, hopefully thats the case!

LadySybilDeChocolate · 19/02/2012 17:17

What happens to students with children who work part time, thus claiming tax credits, to fund their studies?

I have no confidence or faith in this government at all and I believe that they are irreversibly damaging our country. When is the next general election?

LineRunner · 19/02/2012 17:20

This is going to be a disaster for those (mostly) women and their children, LadySybil.

How can this even pass the basic equalities tests?

LadySybilDeChocolate · 19/02/2012 17:23

It doesn't. It's highly discriminatory and it wouldn't surprise me if someone sued them under the Human Rights Act. I wonder what the Fawcett Society make of it all. Wink

LadySybilDeChocolate · 19/02/2012 17:25

fawcettsociety.org.uk/index.asp?PageID=1208 I think we need to stand together over this. Smile

LineRunner · 19/02/2012 17:41

Count me in. For standing together.

gettingagrip · 19/02/2012 17:41

not sure if anyone has linked to this piece of hogwash yet....

Critics of Government work experience programme are 'jobs snobs', says minister

Feminine · 19/02/2012 18:05

lady 2015 ...I asked yesterday.

I was wondering how much time they had left ....to do more damage Angry

Lady, could you post this link from the Mirror to fawcett society please?

I've only just seen it but the last 2 paragraphs are right up their street.

linkyloo

molepom · 19/02/2012 18:19

I wonder if anyone has thought about protesting about getting HMQ to over throw the government by protesting outside her own palace and other residences?

Until there is a huge riot that lasts days on end or massive protests that stall the country, I can not see anything being taken seriously by those who can do something to help us all.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 19/02/2012 18:24

I've tweeted then the link molepom Smile I doubt the queen would step in, it is within her power but the last monarch who tried to do this was executed (Charles I)

molepom · 19/02/2012 18:29

In which case if she doesnt step in she's just as bad if not worse than the government themselves as she actually has the power to stop them.

molepom · 19/02/2012 18:30

Thanks Lady for tweeting that.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 19/02/2012 18:40

She has the power, I don't think she's 'allowed' to use it though.

molepom · 19/02/2012 18:43

So, she has the power, but isnt allowed to use it, therefore making it redundant so she hasnt really got any power at all then.

Right?

LadySybilDeChocolate · 19/02/2012 18:46

That's it. Have you ever known a UK head of state to reject a prime minister? She 'can' do that as well. She's pretty powerless to be honest, just draws in tourists. Blame Charles I, it all went tits up for the monarch after he was executed. It's the House of Lords which have the power, the House of Commons can still over rule them though. Sad

Glitterknickaz · 19/02/2012 18:49

Oh come on, the Queen is purely decorative.

molepom · 19/02/2012 18:51

So there's no-one. Sad

molepom · 19/02/2012 18:51

I know that Glitter, I was just hoping, that's all.

Glitterknickaz · 19/02/2012 18:51

Have you seen my DWP link on the other threads, mole?

molepom · 19/02/2012 18:52

I have. Just tweeted it.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 19/02/2012 18:53

It's down to the people. I can't understand why no one is getting worked up over this (apart from us and a few newspapers). I'm not sure what can be done to start no-confidence proceedings against the government. Wink

molepom · 19/02/2012 19:09

That's up to the MP's the last I read but a bit of pressure here and there wont do any harm.

There are a lot of people getting worked up about it, it's just that the press are keeping it quiet, it wont be long until everyone gets fed up of the media blackout and will start to take more drastic mesures to be heard...the summer riots will be nothing compared to what I can see happening.

littlemisssarcastic · 19/02/2012 19:58

Can anyone answer my questions please?

How will UC work if you have no children, and are only claiming housing benefit/council tax benefit at the moment?

How will UC work if you are unemployed with no children and are currently getting housing benefit/council tax benefit/means tested JSA?

Once transferred to UC, will claimants still be required to 'sign on' every fortnight? I don't understand how people will be able to sign on for UC if any of those people are either working, caring, or doing workfare at their appointed sign on time?

LineRunner · 19/02/2012 20:01

I don't know, littlemisssarcastic.

I had imagined that if in work there would be forms and a phone line, rather the expensive, inefficient bollocks that is Tax Credits at the moment.

I think that a lot of this will be 'declarations' with a sample being actually checked.
