Today is my last day of "freedom". Tomorrow morning I will leave the house at 7am for an elcs for DC2.

She arrived yesterday, the spare room is made up but she stayed up late last night watching a film and fell asleep under MY SOFA BLANKET! ;)

I came down about an hour ago and she woke up for a chat but wouldn't go upstairs.

I know it's not the worst thing in the world but I just want her to FO upstairs so I can fart, pick my nose and sit with my legs akimbo and did I mention she's hogged my blanket??? Aaargh!

I'm sure if you sit down and start farting and nose picking she'll get the hint and go upstairs.

karatekimmi · 12/02/2012 05:16

I'd be annoyed too, as currently can't sleep due mainly to pregnancy but not helped by snoring husband! My sofa and blanket has been my haven in pregnancy, watching shit tv at stupid o clock. Tell her to do on then blame grumpiness on lack of sleep/pregnancy!!

BoysInCoatheads · 12/02/2012 05:32

YANBU.

I'm currently sat warm and snug on the sofa with my blanket and it's lovely.

YWNBU to snatch the blanket away, screech at her for stealing it and flicking whatever you find in your nose at her, all the while farting of course. Hormones innit.

AlpinePony · 12/02/2012 05:42

BLANKIE

my BLANKIE

[Stomp]

I'm delighted to discover my fellow insomniac-blanket people.

I mean seriously, there's a sofa in the dining room but it's minus 5 in there. If I go upstairs (ugh, stairs) I'll wake people up.

I might turn all the lights on and start banging pans. Scrambled eggs anyone?

TopazMortmain · 12/02/2012 05:43

I'll have some eggs!

Do you have a slobbery dog or sharp toed cat you can launch on her?

AlpinePony · 12/02/2012 05:50

I have two very annoying dogs which I have foolishly left behind the stairgate. Time to unleash the hounds I think! Good thinking!

OP posts:
TopazMortmain · 12/02/2012 05:53

Yes!

A Baskerville moment. Ace.

AlpinePony · 12/02/2012 05:57

topaz you are an evil genius! She was awake before I'd even re-shut the stairgate! ;) I then proceeded to empty the dishwasher and now she's properly on her feet.

I'm sending subliminal 'go upstairs' messages.

YABU for talking about snuggling and crap tv. I'm also heavily pg and in need of some but have been up for the last hour trying to keep ill 18mth old DS entertained so ill 3 yr old DD can sleep. If I stop holding his fricking tractor book and making affirmative noises he screams...one-handed typing and very grumpy this morning.
Reclaim that blanket (and good call on the dogs Grin )

Our heating goes off at night so even with a blanket you'd be cold on the sofa in our house. Agree re hiding the blanket from her so the sitting room isn't a cozy place to sleep. I think it's rude to stay up after your hosts have gone to bed.

RuleBritannia · 12/02/2012 12:11

2rebecca

Yes, guests should be the ones to go to bed first. Etiquette.

I think you'll find that tonight's the night you wash the blankets.

ddubsgirl · 12/02/2012 12:21

ugh i remember coming home from hospital after false labour to find in laws asleep in my bed!i had to try and curl up on 2 seater sofa and sleep, ended up laying on floor and no sleep,in pain dh had gone off with his bro for a walk.

ShowOfUmblestAnds · 12/02/2012 12:28

Kill her.

Use blankie, my blankie as a defence.

FutureNannyOgg · 12/02/2012 12:43

Is she still asleep? Why not try shaving her eyebrows like a pissed student.

PoultryInMotion · 12/02/2012 12:52

Ooh how exciting, last day of freedom, I hope you have something lovely planned? I had a lovely day planned for the day before my induction with DD, big meal, film, hot choc, the works! So of course didn't I end up going into labour Hmm Grin

TopazMortmain · 12/02/2012 13:10

Mwahahahahahaha rubs hands together

Dogs are awesome

FlightRisk · 12/02/2012 14:43

Ah lequeen Ds and I are still in our pj's and we won't have a bath till our sunday night bath tonight. Pure Sunday bliss Smile

AlpinePony · 12/02/2012 14:54

Right well what with the annoying dogs and my dishwasher banging she got up and everyone else was up 15 minutes after that. My wonderful husband (!) actually had a go at her as he'd realised without prompting (!) that I like my early morning P&Q and he's said he's dragging her upstairs tonight if needs be.

LeQueen Yes, they're very much a family for falling asleep on the sofa and it annoys the shit out of me.

I'm not sure I'd have asked us to stay up later than us as we're an hour ahead of the UK, had been up since 3am UK time and were in bed by 8pm UK time which is probably a bit of a piss take to demand of a guest!

My last day... I went to the supermarket and got angrier and angrier with people - the fucks. People kept staring at me and knocking in to me - WIBU to get a flashing sign sewn on to my hat saying 'I'm having a baby tomorrow - step the fuck away you asshat!'?

Oh pony YANBU at all. I'm a bit Sheldon like I have a couch spot and a Blankie, my grandpa bought me the blankie when I was two weeks old, it's MINE and god forbid anyone else breathes near it or sits on my spot. It's a hanging offence here. And I am not pregnant.

Sympathy and hugs, just don't get too near the blanket while I hug you.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 12/02/2012 15:13

Alpine - dare I ask how long she's staying??

chattymouth · 12/02/2012 15:18

He he I would put some music on and through chocks on her for the dogs to find

Dustinthewind · 12/02/2012 15:29

She should just go home and sleep on her own sofa.
