AIBU to think WTF, regarding a friends FB status

A friend of mine, who I love the bones of, recently updated her FB. In bed with DD, her boyfriend and myself, having a snuggle, spooning for 3.

This is all kinds of wrong surely? She is a wonderful person, but seems a little over involved with DD who is 18. Not that that makes much difference. Totally weirded out by it to be honest. Its more than TMI isn't though

Yuck.

Animation · 11/02/2012 09:17

Hope he wasn't spooning the mother. Blush

alessthandomesticgoddess · 11/02/2012 09:38

I just read the part about the BF. I think I've changed my mind.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/02/2012 09:40

She clearly just meant they were having a big snuggly cuddle, YABU (and have a dirty mind Wink)

aldiwhore · 11/02/2012 10:53

I always thought spooning was traditionally a cuddle with one facing the other way, only recently has it been appropriated by the Joy Of Sex.

For me though its odd, but not creepy.

TooEasilyTempted · 11/02/2012 10:58

I find it a bit odd. I can't imagine ever wanting to get into bed and cuddle with my DS and his girlfriend if and when he has one.

Neither can I imagine my mum getting into bed for 'spooning' with me and DH.

And as for putting it on FB, weird imo.

mrsjay · 11/02/2012 11:08

ARGHH THE BOYFRIEND WAS THERE i read it as the mums boyfriend maybe step dad , no thats wrong wrong wrong !

mrsjay · 11/02/2012 11:10

I cant imagine jumping in for a cuddle with my 18yr old dd and her boyfriend I dont even sit on the couch with them ,

slartybartfast · 11/02/2012 11:14

i a m sure it must have been a "hijack" as suggested earlier

antsypants · 11/02/2012 11:16

I don't even cuddle friends, so it is very weird and U to me, but whatever floats your boat, going to be a bit awkward when they split up.

BupcakesandCunting · 11/02/2012 11:43

Wrongity-wrong.

Voidka · 11/02/2012 11:55

Wrong on lots of levels!

sheepgomeep · 11/02/2012 12:16

Wrong from this camp too. Creepy as well.

SnapesMistress · 11/02/2012 12:21

Gah, I love PIL's but snuggling in a bed with them?

lolaflores · 11/02/2012 15:16

Thanks all. Myself am a big fan of a cuddle fest with tout famille in bed. excluding DD's boyfriend. No freaking way. He smells anyway. I didn't comment on her FB, but what do you say

antsypants · 11/02/2012 15:20

Ask her if she's auditioning for the Jerry Springer special "my mom has a best mate complex which has result in her being unable to appreciate boundaries" Grin

Sposh · 11/02/2012 15:24

Grin that he smells anyway. They all do, don't they? teenagers, that is.

nickelDorritt · 11/02/2012 15:24

spooning is properly a cuddle where you both face the same way.

it is weird that it is DD's BF and DD and friend, though.
it wouldn't be so weird if it were friend's BF and friend and DD

lolaflores · 11/02/2012 15:24

best mate complex that is the nail on the head there. Parenting as a nasty word

My friends mum was like that flora, she told me all about oral sex when I was 12 and used to have very experimental and noisy sex when we were at my friends house, she also used to try and make us cuddle with her on a Sunday morning, with her boyfriend, who was only 10 years older than us...

My poor friend was mortified for all of her teens.

She always said she wanted a mum not a mate.

But her mum had serious problems of her own that I now understand drove her behaviours.

lolaflores · 11/02/2012 15:35

is it about trying to be young? Avoiding growing up

OP posts:
antsypants · 11/02/2012 15:40

With her she had been abused by her dad all through her childhood until she got married, so she had no idea of what a parent was, about what was appropriate, or about when it was appropriate, so she would come downstairs and tell us how many times she came, or the unforgettable occasion where she discussed lubrication brands whilst in her knickers.

She has never accepted her age, and she is in her 60's now, she still picks up young men, still has risky sex, still takes drugs...

Some people are too broken to fix Sad

But your friend just sounds like one of those mums who are trying to hang into their child, their youth, and perhaps their friendship with their child because they don't want to become redundant.

Which is sad in its own way

silverbay · 11/02/2012 15:41

eeeuuuurgh.

wonder if anyone will comment on the status, or if there will just be an awkward silence?

ShowOfUmblestAnds · 11/02/2012 16:19

Grin No spooning.

We all have rotten colds/sore throats and are squashed on a sofa under a duvet. We always watch the rugby with them, no illness will stand in the way, but we need duvets and lemsip. There is also a 4yo and a baby under the blankets.

FIL sits on the floor and surreptitiously tickles feet when we're sucked into the game. He's a card isn't he? Hmm

It is weird op but not wtf weird.

GoingForGoalWeight · 11/02/2012 16:26

It is weird. Maybe swhe was exaggerating, for the Shock factor? Each to their own..
