AIBU to feel upset that a well known journo sent me a shirty tweet?

I follow someone who I find amusing and likeable but recently tweeted her for giving away the ending to a series on telly (watching on sky+).
We've exchanged many tweets over the years and I sent a low key grumble but got a nasty lob back.
Ffs- I've felt all snubbed all week. Am I daft?

HomeEcoGnomist · 10/02/2012 22:16

onesunny - wouldn't feel too pleased about that, he probably pinched it off someone else Wink

bibbitybobbityhat · 10/02/2012 22:17

I truly don't remember ever deploying it in the past. Can I search? Will try.

X post Squeever

lol at johann hari. that was also bonkers. what an idiot, i really liked him.

re ronson, iirc he kind of intimated in his email that it was a mutual friend who pointed out that i'd been saying things on mn about him. the weird thing was itwas a bit of a jokey thread anyway, so i think he was actually fishing for a column. we have a few mutual friends but only one who would qualify as a reader of MN. (can't think that the others would know i was even on there, iykwim, they're more geeky worldmusic.net types than mners). so i blame her. Grin not that she's my friend friend, but was on FB list and had emailed etc. this was all pre-twitter so before massive explosion of fandom. but maybe not, seriously, who knows? Grin it was all a bit bonkers when his fucking WIFE appeared though.

JerichoStarQuilt · 10/02/2012 22:23

How can you possibly know what someone meant from 120 characters or whatever it is?

Confused

There is a big in-crowd thing among journos where they are very sugary to one another but often quite condescending to the average punter. I like Grace Dent's columns but have had the same kind of snarky tweet exchange with her, on the basis that I didn't like her snarkiness about a big group of other people.

cocobeefsteak tell me more about the EK/ GD breakdown and falling out, would you? I'm intrigued. PM if you don't want to post it, please please?

India Knight can be very funny, but I came to the realisation a while back that she actually seems to believe some of the whacko opinions she states rather than spouting them 'ironically' for entertainment values. They have had their sense of self-importance quite skewed.

BarryShitpeas · 10/02/2012 22:31

"You all belong in an asylum" Grin or however his wife said it.

Siane · 10/02/2012 22:37

I do like India Knight- she's clearly a nice woman. That's why it bothered me. Twitter is weird- in any other exchange you can be yourself but here you're limited to 140 chars and know you can be blocked for fuck all which inevitably leaves you feeling shite. Balance of power all one way, 100 times more hierarchical than real life.
What got me is complex actually- more that in real life if someone is shitty with me they get it straight back but on Twitter you can feel like a different person. I should have said ' that was fucking unnecessary' but didn't and that's what's really bothering me..

...to be fair... it was a good point.

hey just in case anyone thinks i am fingering Moran for the crime of handing over email address, i am not. a judicious bit of googling can extract that from the internet. Grin

PopcornBiscuit · 10/02/2012 22:41

Oh, India Knight. Not a great fan I'm afraid. There's no need for her to get shirty with you.

DodieSmith · 10/02/2012 22:44

Did you think she was your friend?

animula · 10/02/2012 22:45

Huh.

I've been blocked by India Knight.

No idea why.

It makes me feel slightly paranoid: she has five gazillion followers - why block me? I don't think I've ever even tweeted her. It makes me wonder if there's some kind of "Minority Report" thing going on, and at some point in the future I have committed an out-of-character (perhaps brain disease-related?) crime of appalling stalkery dimensions.

Rather worrying.

Definitely miss her appearances in my time-line.

PopcornBiscuit · 10/02/2012 22:46

Hahaha! I'd take that as a compliment animula :o

"I've been blocked by India Knight."

NormanTebbit · 10/02/2012 22:51

Maybe she was having a bad day

Devora · 10/02/2012 22:52

I've met India Knight a few times and found her quite unpleasant. Bitchy. And with a weirdly unpleasant anti-lesbian shtick going on.

BUT we have some mutual friends - people who I like and respect. So who knows [baffled shrug emoticon].

Siane · 10/02/2012 22:54

Dodiesmith- not sure what you're getting at there. Of course I didn't think she was my friend- I'm a 40 year old woman with 2 kids, 3 stepkids, a career and a range of normal shit to deal with. It just took me aback. So I posted on here. Cos I've had 3 wines and am wondering idly why it actually bothers me..

Who is Emma Kennedy?

Petrean · 10/02/2012 22:54

Who is Rhodri Morgan? And when is 12th night?

animula · 10/02/2012 22:54

PopcornBiscuit - I think I'd feel that way if I'd earned it. As it is, it feels a little misattributed. There again, I can be a little literal: I've never understood why people want to wear football strips of teams they've never played in, or sweatshirts from universities they haven't attended. Perhaps I should get into it. Embrace the now.

dodiesmith - I'm sure that wasn't to me but you've made me think about what it is I miss.

I think it was rather like getting postcards, from a randomly and enigmatically pen-friend.

A wonderful palliative-after-the-event for the dire letters i used to receive from my French and German pen-friends that were doled out at school. who would write interminable letters about what they liked/didn't like; who was in their class; their favourite hobbies, etc.

I think my foreign language skills would have been a lot better had they actually been postcards, sent frequently, of swift events and thoughts.

Petrean · 10/02/2012 22:55

Thank god for google... Off to find out...

Siane · 10/02/2012 22:56

Emma Kennedy is a writer, performer, actor. She's on programmes on radio 4, raises money via a high profile moonwalk, lives on Twitter and is bbf with the Twitterati. Very overtly.

OP posts:
animula · 10/02/2012 22:58

that should be "Randomly and enigmatically assigned pen-friend".

She was a definite oddity in my time-line - but that was the charm.

Devora - that's not good.

LeBOF · 10/02/2012 22:58

Rhodri Morgan twitterhugged me when we were the last two standing on his Twitter timeline on the night the Chilean miners were being rescued.
